CHARACTER DESIGN: TETSUYA NOMURA
I know nothing about Final Fantasy 11 except for small bits of stuff i find on the wiki, but I think he's pretty cool. I didn't know any characters until Shantotto and Prishe from the previous Dissidia games and I like them a lot. I wish people were more open to the idea that these characters need a chance to shine just as much as any other character.
Yeah, specially when both FFXI and XIV have really fascinating plots and characters.
I play 14, and I do love it's plot and characters. :D
Open minded people in 2018??? LOL, that's a rare commodity sadly. BTW I played FFXI for 8+ years, so I'm happy to see it get some love.
Actually as an 11 fan this guy was really low key, very forgettable and not a particularly important, impactful or interesting character. They had way more interesting choices than him which is the biggest problem. I do, however, love spellblades and enspellers so I really like what they did with him.
Especially Shantotto, would definitely love to play as her considering every other FF game makes it look like she's the most overpowered character In the franchise.

He's more of a Mystic Knight than a Red Mage. I mean, his Elemental Blade is like Magic Sword ability.
In Final Fantasy XI, Red Mage could use en-spells to enchant elemental properties to their weapon. So, this is why he is called a Red Mage if you played Final Fantasy XI. Above all, Kam'lanaut comes from Final Fantasy XI, therefore it is accurate to call him a Red Mage.
@@guillermoolivaiii9550 I see. You're right, I didn't play FF11 before. I only remember this ability from FF5's job Mystic Knight and Steiner from FF9.
Yeah, Mystic Knight is similar like this ,but Mystic Knight can only unleash the elemental blow once entirely before they can re-cast the spells properties again to unleash another blow. Also, Red Mage's en-spell from Final Fantasy XI has a time duration for the buff to wear off and rinse and repeat to do it all over again.
in the fight with him in FFXI, he uses a very red mage like strategy, casting a lot of debuff spells and nukes

The two themes used in this video aren't even his. Realm of Emptiness is Promathia's theme, though it does play when you fight him with his older brother Eald'narche in the quest 'Apocalypse Nigh.' The one after is Fighters of the Crystal, which is the Ark Angels theme.
When you fight him alone, he just has the default FFXI:Zilart boss theme (Tough Battle #2 I think it's officially called).
Purely from a mechanics standpoint... people gotta admit this guy is one of the best picks they coulda done. He looks amazingly fun to play as.

...and both with exceptionally long hair.
Meanwhile, their popularity is a massive contrast. So many people love Sephiroth outside Japan, while in Camel Nut's case, mostly Japanese people and some FFXI fans outside Japan like him.

Perhaps the first time my Galka Grimlok got his ass kicked. Grudge match with Kam continued past Atomos eating an alternate universe to a psychotic Galka Samurai cow blade version of Apocalypse.

An interesting character. Neutral attacks with buff pisses on Bartz's Mystic Knight. What a range, for the love of...
And he'll come alongside the new soundtrack so it will be awesome. (Many of us surely only put Triumph arrangement in our soundtrack list I think)
He seems interesting to play... but I wish there was some sort of free trial to test out characters before deciding to purchase them. It might hurt business but it could also help by removing the hesitation in buying a character you have never tried before.

I’m aware of the toxic fanbase in this thread but they no nothing of a fun character when they see one he’s a very fun character n very cool antagonist I never bought him but still trying to I wanna use him he looks really sick also he be a very fun character in super smash bro’s hopefully he can get added to that one day alongside sephiroth

Hmmm I think this is the first DLC character that I’m not fussed about (yet). Maybe as I’ve never played FF11.
Isn't his gimmick just Vaan's from duodecim? Not complaining, he looks fun.
Edit: Vaan's doesn't require you to connect with the hits, but still.
Reverse 012 Vann to be exact. If Vaan uses the same move, the second one will be worse. Kamlanaut subsequent move becomes better instead.
But Kam'lanaut get buff that differentiates a bit further. Any attack hit makes all of his element blade buffs extended. which mean he gets rewarded from both landing the same move and different move
@@truebladeseeker I remember some of Vaan's secondary attacks being better than the originals, I think they just serve different purposes.

Caius wasn't in the datamine, "Caramel Nut" is.
Nor he was leaked since Spring, "Caramel Nut" has.
Also, Caius is quite unpopular on Japan, so he would be an oddball.

Since FF11 never got much publicity since it was more about the community and the main villains could only really be known by actually playing through FF11's monumental story, I never even knew who this guy was. FF11 was fun and deserves more attention at least. And they didn't put Hildebrand from FF14 in here? That's my main pet peeve imo

Well can't wait to play as him. I mean all of those elemental attack. He seems like a Mystic Knight. But then again in final fantasy 11 Red mages can do elemental stuff to. So I'm calling him a Red Mystic Knight Mage.
Since Rune Fencer/Mystic Knights weren't a thing in FFXI until much later, he's defo a Red Mage (he can also use some nasty debuffs. In FFXI, RDM has a few debuff spells that only they can use).
Well thanks for the info. Though I've been playing as him. He's a lot of fun. Love the elemental mechanics he uses. Though does he use these moves in his boss fight?
@@GalaxiaKnightX Mostly, though there are a couple of skills he doesn't/shouldn't have. When he does Elemental Blade, he gains the Enbuff of whatever Element the Blade was. This, however, doesn't give him Ignition, Liquification, etc. Those are Esoteric Scrivening debuffs. Each one applies debuffs depending on the Element of the Scrivening (Ignition = Plague + Burn + Attack Down. Terrafication = Potent Slow + Rasp + Defence Down). Scrivenings can be killed by their Elemental weakeness, though, but only if it's magic. They have high physical defence. If you don't kill an Esoteric Scrivening, they can become a clone of Kam'lanaut at 100% HP.
Spirits Within (short sword Weapon Skill in FFXI. Is not a ranged attack) and Intervene (level 96 *Paladin* Job Ability) are skills he does not have in FFXI.

A team of Y'shtola, The Emperor and Kam'lanut with Bahamut as the summon = Good fucking luck going across the field without walking into some trap or attack.
Just imagine the field control with him and Y'shtola working together.....
That would be hell and plus with a mix of emperor or ace and his stop cards that would be a nightmare
So he's basically like a Mystic Knight Paladin. Also really love that shield. If he can throw it like a chakram I'm finished.

So basically this guy is a MMO boss but playable. He places all of Exdeath's debuffs at the same time just by existing

zack skills is similar to a mime. as he can adapt to any charaters and alter them. such as cloud meteorain and sephiroth octaslash. the only original attack he has is chain slash; which is almost similar to cross-slash. so the only skills he would have are the materia he used from crisis core; like assult twister. which is similar to blitz in FFXIII.
if another character from 7 its either tifa, vincent, aerith or yuffie. cause those 4 are getting more spotlight than the other members.

I'm convinced someone like vincet who could maybe attack while moving or has some slippery movement with his cape is a lot more unique that a warrior of light with elemental buffs.
no what you want is a marksman who dodges like an assassin. you cant call him not unique based on the fact he isnt vincent. his mechanics are pretty unique and he is easily the most interesting looking specialist
in your opinion, in my opinion he is a basic vanguard with a buff that enhances one bravery of his choice. His Ex skill is about the most unique thing about him.

Vanguard ? Really unsuited for Vincent tbh. I assumed Vincent ( if he was even here ) would be more like a Specialist ( that has mostly long range attack but has like 1 or 2 close range attack that as fast as an Assassin-type ) , or Marksman ( because he uses guns , enough said )

Point Red Hat is iconic but not needed for red mage. The rapier association is only from FFXIV afaik
