When Medium Format Is Too Small for Landscape Photography

    Sometimes even the beastliest cameras aren't enough to capture a scene like this. I have to resort to drastic measures just to capture this 3km beam of light.
    Brent joins us for 3 nights of camping and hiking at Lake O'Hara but will the bus driver kick us off the bus after Amanda cuts the cheese?
    Thankfully Brent brought 'TrailLube'! Once we've suffered through the obligatory orientation, it's time to hit the trails for some knee-breaking hiking but an arctic blast forces us to take shelter in a bitterly cold ditch.
    Brent seems to be taking my bragging quite well until I push him too far and receive an uppercut to the sweetbreads. He's just jealous that his measly 50 megapixels are no longer top dog. I'll show him with my whopping 102 Megapixels, nothing beats that right...right?
    Thanks for watching

    I've had a 100s for about 5 months now and it's become my daily driver! It's an astonishing machine. And the 2 lenses I have (80mm and 32-64 zoom) are perfectly matched to get the most out of the sensor. But even though having that huge available res is nice... for me , the real benefit has been the ridiculous dynamic range and it's low-light capability. A truly outstanding camera.

    Amanda's blue down doublet and pantaloons are simply the must-have for the discerning vlogger: you don't have any, which is why your dentures are breakdancing. I'm highly impressed with the tent central locking, but did you remember to deadlock it? Double-plip for maximum security even Clarence can't circumvent! You read it here first.

    I truly hope you end up with that FujiFilm 102MP camera system Gavin, the images are just stunning. I've re-watched one of Adam's videos this morning, and he's using his GFX100, taking images of a very large tree, but his photography friend he has with him is used as scale for the tree. Adam zooms in on the camera back display so that his friend is very large in the display, and the image just looks like he's used a 200 to 400mm telephoto full frame system to get the clear detail in the face. He then zooms back out to fit to full screen size and his friend is so small in the frame. Its almost like magic the detail captured by those 102MP sensors. Once I'd tried such a camera I just wouldn't want to go back to a lesser system. Really great images in this video Gavin. Shame we have to wait another week for the next installment. Take care and keep safe.

      Sounds like your interested in pixel peeping. Gavin could have shot this with a Sony, Canon or a Nikon and the photo would look the same. Praise the photographer doing all the hard work not a Camera.

    • @tjkrueger2655
      @tjkrueger2655 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mrsusan893 There's a reason landscapers want more.... more sensor real estate, megapixels and flexibility. It doesn't mean he couldn't take a killer shot with a Z7 or a7riV, but there's so much more to work with here in post

    • @markkeohane9850
      @markkeohane9850 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mrsusan893 Agree; while the level of detail captured is probably stunning close up, most folks look at images from a little way back when, as you suggest, there would be nothing to choose between shots taken with 102MP or 40, or less. Must admit, Gav's image looked pretty bloody good on my 4k (8.3MP) 55" TV from nearly 3m away. Higher resolution never made a great or classic image. MP = Marketing Ploy.
