Hes slowed down but hes one of the best still. His intelligence for the battle has improved as he has lost pace though. That's why hes still up there. Love watching him great fighter
The Reem has 80 pro fights if you include his kickboxing, I wouldn’t say his intelligence in fighting has improved, it would be more accurate to say that experience is second to none in martial combat and he is probably familiar with every kind of situation there is in the cage.
I would agree that he was intelligent. I think when he covered up and the announcers got excited he was letting Sakai burn his arms out. Sakai had I think his third flurry early in the third round and Overeem really started at about 2:30 of the third. I think he had an idea that he could take the second half of the fight and the judges tend to remember the second half on the score cards.
MTB 2 SEA that is not a new technique for the Reem most of his fights go into later rounds and he was excellent at covering up I’ve seen him is play that style on more that one occasion believe me!

I’ve seen him use that technique in other fights and Joe throws out his patented “oh...he’s in trouble” and sometimes he walks out of it and a few time a heavy hitter will catch him flush and drop him. It’s not always a good strategy. Sakai was not throwing big bombs (relative to other HW’s), plus Sakai was throwing in a rhythm that Reem could predict and match and with very small movement could block, except the few elbows, they were out of the rhythm and caught him.

@@BEM-vf3kx Yeah potentially, but is honestly really hard to pin down exactly how Jones power and wrestling skills will translate to heavyweight. I think from Jones perspective he's better off fighting someone like curtis blaydes who doesn't have the fight IQ and isn't a puncher.
chael sakai didn't land ANY calf kicks on overeem that weren't countered, in the very first round sakai through a calf kick, and overeem countered with a pristine overhand right that landed crisp on the chin of sakai, and after that he didn't throw many calf kicks at all
Sakai is a scary guy. The lack of an audience made it even worse when he started letting off flurries, and those knees at the end, I don’t know how overeem took those punches let alone responded to them
idk when I was watching the fight it looked to me like a lot of those punches in the flurries were just hitting Alistair's arms and not actually hitting him in the head, what I don't understand is how Sakai just ate those knees to the body from Overeem
@Hidde de Roos that's crazy and I gotta give Sakai even more respect if those knees actually fucked up his ribs and he kept fighting, he's certainly got some heart to take knees like that from the Reem and keep on going
Much Respect: Chael, you are so entertaining and thoughtful !! I really enjoy how you break things down! Of course, I don't always agree, but I respect your informed opinion and thought process!

Mystery Hombre it would an interesting fight but I think Jones would be favored and would more than likely win. I like Reem and hate Jones but Jones is too fast, too long and frankly too good. If Reem won I think would be by knockout but Jones has never been dropped or really rocked and he has fought some hammers. I think it would be a great fight to watch tho and I think it would be the best path forward for Reem and would give him the best chance for a title shot. U r right tho high risk for Jones, who in all likelihood is the #1 contender after Stipe and Francis run it back.
Blake Musick They have trained together..
They have no issues with eachother..
Plus Overeem is not the type to fake that kind of sh*t..
When the fight happends, it happends and for sure it will sell.
@@BEM-vf3kx Yeah potentially, but is honestly really hard to pin down exactly how Jones power and wrestling skills will translate to heavyweight. His fight IQ is one of the best to ever do it, but Alistair has been around forever has more experiance and probs resultantly has a fight IQ than than even Jones. I think from Jones perspective he's better off fighting someone like curtis blaydes who doesn't have the fight IQ and isn't a puncher.
Overeem has been cool as fuck since he was humbled at the end of the Ubereem era
In westlin Oregon its called mooie tie.
Theres a chance overeeem can reach top 2 maybe a title shot
Please explain.he lost to the top 4 guys
All I know is never count out the reem simple
Overeem a MFKn beast 💥
chael sakai didn't land ANY calf kicks on overeem that weren't countered, in the very first round sakai through a calf kick, and overeem countered with a pristine overhand right that landed crisp on the chin of sakai, and after that he didn't throw many calf kicks at all
Talk about NIck Diaz already!!!
Call me crazy but I want to see Overeem vs Jones
Such an interesting fight
Chael: Teammate is a verb
Me: Ok great
0:43...Old Chael is now suggesting "for" us as well!...And Still!!!😁
Much Respect: Chael, you are so entertaining and thoughtful !! I really enjoy how you break things down! Of course, I don't always agree, but I respect your informed opinion and thought process!
I really want Overeem Vs Lesnar II
Overeem is so underrated
That's because he keeps getting knocked out, he's looked incredible in his last 5 fights but don't tell me you don't worry he's gonna get knocked out every time he gets in any amount of trouble lol
you mean over rated right?
@@Nordraw ok
RC Ward for someone who’s watched the sport since 2014, probably, yes.
Father Hewy Louie I’ve been watching since 2005 , I’ve seen this play out many times, he’s in it for the cash now. A gate keeper they call it. Not out of the question he could win a big fight but not likely
What is the belt buckle Uncle Chael has (visible at 5'45")? I already have the breakfast cereals, the wallet, the VPN, the t shirt. I NEED that belt!
I WANT THE BELT SO BAD
PLEASE GIVE IT TO ME
Ok great this is a very relevant thing the champchamp thing is a very real thing. So those are two very real things believe m- ok set that aside. Then you got two world champions. Ok fair play. But what really gets me is when you got this guy and he just goes out there and it's such a crazy thi- oh and by the way, I offer you this hes throwing the punches and the kicks but where is the mooey tie? This is a very relevant thing and I only offer you this because my buddy Ryan asked "Chael what's the difference between the punches and the kicks?" Ok those are all xs and ys and zs and they are very important but do you see my point? These guys with the intangibles are going out there and making a great name. Set that aside.
Sakai needs to drop a solid 20 or 30 lbs, and work on his ground game. Dude would be even faster than what we saw.
ONE MORE RUN
We all know Uncle Chael would tap Overeem out like he tapped out every single person he's ever fought.
1:14 Yoel Romero : "Am i a joke to you?"
It's a little too late for people to start realizing how good Alistair really is.
MMA fans have done a 180 on Overeem in a good way.
Overeem should get his rematch with Rozenstruik, then rematch Francis and then he would be able to get another fight for the belt
Seemed very strange fight, one guy not countering and just covering up and the other with no ground game or the ability to get up.
Reem vs. Werdum part 4, but 5 rounds
I felt like Werdum won part 3 and part 2 could've been a draw
@benadryl cabbagepatch no, I'm almost certain Werdum said he was done with the UFC and didn't want to resign
What’s next for Overeem Chael?
Sakai: Oh so you are a wrestler now.
The real question is how good of a coach could overeem be?
Hey Chael ... are the rumours true ? Connor mcgregor v nick Diaz
Lmao good on you for trying Uncle Chael but Sakai's stock did not go up. If anything it went down.
Woo!
