- This solution should work for most of you. If you have issues were your screen is black but your phone is on, your phone is stuck in boot loop, it keeps restarting, charging issues, not charging, display is black but you can feel it vibrate, the screen show nothing but you can hear your phone ring, etc, then try this 1, 2, 3, method.

the screen on my s4 is cracked on the inside or something like that, I dropped it on carpet. it vibrates when I hit the power button and a little light at the top of the phone lights up, but the screen just stays black. how can I fix it?

Thanks! worked great. It didnt work when i only held it for a minute, so I stuck a piece of tape on the power button and left it there for awhile :)

Yeah, I broke mine and got it fixed about 2 weeks ago. I had to take it to a phone repair shop and get the screen replaced. The screen now looks and works good as new again.

to those people saying that this method did not work, maybe it's because the problem is your phone's lcd. you might need to replace it with a new one.

I did this with my s5 and half way through it slipped out of my hand and fell on the edge of the concrete stairs and smashed the screen into little pieces...thanks man now I'm up for a couple hundred bucks for a new screen

Or your display panel was broken and that's why it didn't work for you.. or your phone has board damage. Or water damage. This isn't a cure-all, but to say don't bother trying would stop somebody who this might work for from trying and then shelling out money for nothing. Its called troubleshooting. Learn to do that or don't own electronics (or be ready to pay senselessly for "repairs").

I think you should get a new samsung phone. (No further than the s5.) Take the sd card out of your old phone, and put it in your new phone.

This definitely works each time I have the "black screen of death" on my Note 4 (Sprint); however it is not a permanent fix. I have to do this at least 10x a day. I have heard it has to do with the marshmallow update.
Pressing Power and Volume+ button together helped.

you rock man, got my phone turned back on, it was android Galaxy s4 and it was stuck on reboot mode. used the step press volume up power button for 10 sec. I had pics of a family member that passed away. thanks to you(Not Verizon technician)....... I got them back. I took phone to Verizon in my hometown and he said it's fried man. so I bought new one. thank you. question for you.... how can I save my pics on new phone so I don't have this problem again? thank you.........
+Mike Chidester use an SD card or your computer and move to ur new phone. Also I suggest install Google photos app. This is free cloud so all your photos and vids will be saved to ur gmail ACCT automatically just for backup you never know.
went on the beach an took my phone out for a min to just climb up on a rock to take a photo n a wave splashed against my pocket and i can still receive calls etc and i do see lights and the samsung picture came up an then everything went blank..screen is dark and i am frustrated hoping i can save this phone....

OMG , BRO I ACTUALLY DID IT AND I AM NOT HIS ANY OF FAMILY MEMBERS, BUT IT YOU PUT PRESSURE ON THE UPPER SIDE OF SCREEN AND AND POWER BUTTON FOR 1 MINUTES IT START AFTER PLUG-IN BATTERY I SWEAR AND I TRIED WITH MY GALAXY J5
#15. Nothing else worked.
I took s5 for s green repair. Took 2 screen to get it right. Then, I lost or it floats from LTE to nothing. Mostly 3g network. I have 2 s5. Bought new 2 years ago. The other one has LTE all the time so I know the repaired phone has issues that I didn't have before. A 3 time I brought it back because the screen bubbled out from front. They fixed that, tried 7 antennas to see if they can get my signal to LTE .
Now it has a shadow on selfie mode TOO. So, we agree that this phone is bad so I buy a new phone, s8+. they said they would transferred my data and hold it for me till I bought it the s8+. I go back and all I got transferred was pics and a days worth of calls from old phone. Asked where are my text logs and contacts? They don't know... said bring in the phone... which you helped me get refixed since I got the black screen. Which I occurred because the screen they attached became unglued. Sucks
