Have you tried Amouage Myths Woman? That's the version I tried, I really did enjoy my sample. I don't recall the women version having some vetiver or an ash accord, but yes the chrysanthemum was at the forefront, with the moss and a bit of musk/ambergris. Lovely. Nathalie Lorson doing her thing!
Great great review, as always! I fully agree with all your comments about perfumery. I believe I ‘saw the light’ a few years ago. :-) However, in my whole collection the ‘Dark Side’ is my number two all time favorite. It hits all the important parts of the brain (independently of materials, price etc). The wearing experience is the best. I have perfumes 10x more expensive, I love the classics and have Areej le Dore (my favorites OE IV and Al Majmua), BUT the ‘Dark Side’ is just amazing for me.

It would make more sense to increase the price in that scenario.

I agree,,, i think the problem is that there are now so many new launches each month, back in 80's and 90's there were far fewer releases each year so a designer brand can afford to be different because the choices were limited. Hence releases such as Fahrenheit, Jazz, Kouros, Anteus,, I also love Lagerfeld classic for a warm, amber winter fragrance (and its 25 quid UK which is crazy )Now there are so many they have to fight harder to get sales and get attention so they tend to play it safer,, so I do agree that there are so many same, boring fragrances. I like Amouage, Nishane, Amouroud, Kajal and for decent, safe work fragrances I use Mancera. The other place I have found is some independents have different fragrances, such as ATH, but even then his High Voltage smells like Aventus. For Amouage (my favourite brand) i have Lyric, Journey, Epic, Shinshine, Beach hut, Portrayal and Enclave. with you all the way Sam, teenagers from the 80's were the kings. 😆It seems to get something eciting and different that you used to get from designers you now have to buy niche,, or you buy the designer "premium" lines. We now have a luxury category (i would think niche is luxury if you measure by vale) and the cost per ml is crazy. The good news is that some of the older fragrances are still around and as long as they have not been reformulated to death are great and often very cheap,,, my favorurite old cheapie is Lagerfeld classic it brings back memories but I don't think it smells old at all...
