I was surprised you didn't have any soy there. Do you get protein mostly from nuts and grains? Curious about your protein intake as the American Academy of Sports Medicine recommends 1.2-2g/kg/day. Do you find you don't need as much as a runner or do you manage to get in that range as a vegan? Def. enjoyed the vid Harry.
I always get a kick out of those hats.... wonder if fructose gets used better or as well as other sugars..but assume so with...your fitness level. Nice diet...broc is a wonder veg.
Oats are naturally gluten free but most are processed in factories where wheat, barley or rye are also processed. I do not personal mind getting oats that aren't specified as gluten free but for people who may have problems with coeliac disease they will avoid them.
Hi Harry. I have been using minimus trail running shoes but I want to start using normal trail running shoes instead thanks to some of your advice in a previous video. I do shorter distance runs (21km or less). Hoka is not sold where I live, but Solomon's seem to be the most popular here. Is it worth getting Hoka imported and what do you think of the Solomans? Also, what type of Hoka would be best for fast pace and technically easy trail running?
You really ought to eat protein. You barely eat any. You don't even reach 1 g per kg of bw. Really like your videos, but you do need protein even though you're a vegan. You barely get any from fruit.
I'm not saying he needs to eat high protein. I'm saying he ought to start eating protein to begin with. He's barely eating any at all. There's nothing wrong with being a vegan at all, but you guys are just like religious people claiming god created earth or others saying the earth is flat even though science clearly states otherwise. Eat your veggies and carb up but common don't neglect protein!
Matthew Johnson - it's healthy being vegan mainly because you eat a lot fruit and vegetables not because you don't eat meat. Obviously you shouldn't eat red meat all the time or only eat meat. I compare people who don't believe in science to people who don't believe in science. There's nothing wrong with being vegan, but you still need a nutritious diet including protein.
@Jannik Agree fruits aren't high in protein. Veges don't have a lot either. From what I've seen Harry eats nuts and oats (I'm only a new follower so don't know what else). They are "high" in protein. Foods like chick peas and beans have (what I consider) enough protein. How much protein does the average person need? How much protein does an athlete need? I remember Arnold Schwarzenaggers protein intake as being 1g per kg of body weight per day - for someone who wanted to build bulk - and he was successful - perhaps that's a benchmark to consider? So perhaps an athlete needs 2/3's or this, 1/2, 1/3? Who knows. Perhaps we don't need as much as many people believe. How much does a runner need? Harry doesn't look malnuritied. He looks lean fit - and IS fit. Does he get enough protein? Perhaps. Perhaps not.
That's right fortified foods are one area I get B12 as well as nutritional yeast, which I will sprinkle over meals from time to time. Occasionally I will supplement through sublingual drops or capsules during heavy training cycles.
Saved to watch,,,important and Valued video and ...a fav runner who shares with us common folk! Stay healthy!
Loving your adventures, Harry. I would definitely like a Speedgoat 2 review.
Wow...3.38min/km...even in the mountains..holy moly.^^
I'm training to get a 5.4 min/km time in the flat terrain for my first marathon :D

For someone who is also training (not as hard) these kind of videos are really valuable

Just started watching your videos and was so happy to see that youre a vegan athlete! Youre awesome :)
Can you make a top ten protein or nutrition bar
Thanks for the tip about malases. Didn’t think of that yet.
Nice to hear you are a vegan too 🌱

great video!
I have one little question, why you choose gluten free oats but not regular ones?
Oats are naturally gluten free but most are processed in factories where wheat, barley or rye are also processed. I do not personal mind getting oats that aren't specified as gluten free but for people who may have problems with coeliac disease they will avoid them.
@@HarryRunsUK oats are not gluten free, at all

Great vid. nice and long too.
Thanks Jaimin!

Hey Tiaan it sounds like the Hoka Challenger ATR 3 would suit you well, I would recommend ordering some and trying them out!
Second also great videos
You look a bit worn out, hope you're okay!
Thanks for the concern Isabel, I was within a heavy training week so was feeling a bit tired naturally.
Hello T.harry it's me
Hey Ashley! Hope you are enjoying Grade 5!

And with your high protein diet how good is your running?

Can I ask what you do to get your vitamin B12 in?
Think the Oat milk if fortified with B12, at least the Alpro one is
The non-organic Oatly is, but sadly the organic isn't (the one in your vid). It's worth saying that most plant-based milk are fortified!
