    This guy would been amazed what 3'x3' piece of plywood with 2'' hole in one corner tide to his side bar would of slid across the sand easily, keep one in my trailer it works good, I've never had to use it but I've let other people it's a lifesaver.

      Why not just lift the rear and tow it that way so the driver can just sit and steer.

    Just a thought. Snowmobiles, the mountain sleds have wide skis so they dont sink. Make a bracket to attach to the ski a set the damaged corner on the bracket and strap it down. We kno skis and snowboards work on sand. I admit I'm Alaska and don't crap about dune life. But less drag would make the toy vehicles job easier.

      head troll Uhm some of the best touring buggies actually use big old smooth aircraft tires. works great! You don't need paddles unless you are racing. Even then all the paddles are doing is throwing the sand which causes an equal and opposite reaction in the buggy. Just driving around on the sand the paddles are really annoying.

    all these comments about getting stuck, he had a equipment failure, ive seen cars drag race on pavement snap axles and such, but they don't have to worry as much about grit getting past a seal, and why does it always turn into a chevy vs ford thing, run a chevy or ford hard ive seen plenty of blazers and broncos jeeps, toyotas, etc break too

      Superb traction in 2WD and more correct weight distribution.

    • @shananagans5
      @shananagans5 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      In the sand it puts the weight far back so they get great traction with the big sand tires. The big paddle tires even give them a thrust effect in that the sand they throw out behind them propels them forward. They can lift the front end off the ground & fly over the sand. They can also brake the rear wheels independently to help steer when the front wheels are in the air (like a tank) or just to turn & cut real fast. They are designed from the ground up to perform in the sand dunes & they are insanely fast.

    • @DieselRamcharger
      @DieselRamcharger 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      tpcrb distribution of weight is NOT correct…it just makes them fun to drive. front engine is bad cause it makes the front end spin around on you. true. but i still think the mid engine cars are better at pretty much everything than the rear engine cars.

    • @DieselRamcharger
      @DieselRamcharger 10 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      so they wheelie. the real reason is because these cars are based off volkswagen beetles, they all use the same style of transaxle. Though these days they run aftermarket boxes, not the old bus stuff. But its still the same style. There are plenty of mid engine sand cars out there, and they generally handle better and go faster. they just don't wheelie as easy so people call them slow. {wrong}

    its funny how the camera zooms in on the ford truck. the ford truck did not pull the buggy out by itself, the truck had to get help from another buggy because the truck kept getting bogged down, even in 4 wheel drive. It was probably because the ford had the wrong tires for sand, but the ford sucks.

    • @projectcg6172
      @projectcg6172 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      cartman350 Gotta agree with cartman350 and nooki1102 I have a dodge Dakota and my transmission is going out, front driveshafts are making loud grinding noises, wont shift into 4wd and rear end slips some times. And ford is as good as they came I have a ford esctort that's still running over 200,000 miles on stock engine and components not to mention the clutch is still original nothings been changed on the car so your argument is invalid Ben Sullivan.

      ???
      As opposed to fords automatic transmissions ? Might want to talk to a shop.
      Dakota's unless they are the 5.9 SLT models suck because they use V6 crap that wasn't intended for heavy duty use.
      Dakotas in the V6 lineup were marketed for people who could not afford a real truck. Just like ford rangers and chevy S10's Nobody ever compares a Dakota to those though. You know why..... Even as classless as a dakota is... it still out classes those other two by heaps.
      As for real trucks.......
      My Ram has pulled out more fords than I care to count. I have towed more chevy silverados with blown 4L80E transmissions than I can count on both hands. And yet somehow you are able to manage that Dodges all somehow have bad transmissions, drive shafts and rear ends ?
      Please elaborate on exactly which parts in these groups fail because I have had my truck for 12 years and beat on it since day 1. Outside of replacing the harmonic balancer and intake manifold (intake issue is well documented and a cheap fix) and a junk dash (I glassed a new one in way better now..) I haven't had any real mechanical issues with my truck.
      In my shop yard I have:
      2003 silverado 6.0 112k miles (blown trans, chewed up tcase)
      2012 Ford F-150 eco turd 34k miles (blown motor, waiting for dealership to replace)
      1989 Bronco 5.0 178k miles (Blown transmssion, this is the 5th AODE that has been put in it. Going for a C6 swap)
      1997 Ford expedition 5.4 Triton 117k (Blown transmission, 2 previous transmissions in this vehicle, and a rear end, and heads thanks to the timing chain guides failing at just over 100k miles.)
      2007 Ford fusion 51k miles (This car has had three transmissions previous but now the engine seized due to vibrations from the last failed transmission)
      2007 Chevy Duramax diesel 74k miles (Allison transmission failed after a crimp failed on a factory hose and this thing dumped all of it's ATF out on the freeway. This happened previously but the stealership replaced the known bad part with a similar junk part. I have made a new line out of steel braided PTFE and AN fittings.)
      1999 Ford Ranger 90k miles (7 inch rear end exploded on gravel road. Spider pin sheared off and hit the axle housing. getting an 8.8 in to solve this issue.)
      There are only two things Ford ever got right. EVER. The C6 transmission and the 9 inch rear end.
      Any other car that had Fords name on it that wasn't a huge piece was always some aftermarket job.
      General Motors has been plagued by bad transmissions and transfer cases since the release of the 700R4. The 4L60 (not E) was the upgraded version and fared better in the short run, but now that the early 90's cars that came with them are rolling over 150k miles they are failing left and right. I have a TH400HD in a 75 chevy that has NEVER been rebuilt and still breaks the tires loose getting into second gear. The 4L60E is fail, so is it's big brother the 4L80E. Neither of those are worth 2 cents without serious aftermarket upgrades to fix common issues that the factory knew about but failed to acknowledge.
      My dodge RAM came with the notorious 46RE. All of my friends warned me this transmission would fail.
      Here we are over 100k miles later. I have been running 33 inch tires without any modifications to the drivetrain and I can still pin it to win it without worrying it will give up the ghost. Shifts hard and crisp and never gets hot even when I tow my 35 foot sea boat.
      The reason my transmission lasted this long? Because Dodge actually acknowledged they had issues with previous years transmissions and they addressed those issues with revised hard parts.
      The dealership even made sure to bypass the one way fluid valve in my truck because the factory had already put it on before the part was deemed a trouble item. Yes the dealership took the time to check my truck over and make sure it was a solid runner before they delivered it to me.
      There was a known issue with the corporate rear axle posi clutch pack in my truck. I pulled the diff cover to see if I would be affected and guess what. I already had updated parts.
      Ford knew since 1988 that the AODE was a P.O.S that was destined to fail because it was a bad egg even before they converted the Rotten AOD over to electronic control. Did they EVER, EVEN ONCE revise any hard parts in that tranny?
      Nope.
      Yet Dodge drivelines suck......
      Yes sir, you seem to know a lot more than a certified master mechanic.
      You should drop by your local AAMCO and check out what kind of vehicles are in the parking lot. You'll be amazed.
      Yep Dodge must be junk..........

    • @cartman350
      @cartman350 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bobby D The fact that I've seen multiple Dodge than any other vehicles on the emergency lane with a snapped drive shaft. I even seen several snap off while driving. Also seen where multiple Dodge vehicle destroyed their rear ends. Plus I hear from people who owned a Mopar vehicle even said they had issues with their transmissions. SO that's why I know they are crap.
