Hello Michael. Been following your channel for a few weeks now, and last week I brought an 1845 Exeter silver spoon. As I was born in Devon this is a great piece of local history and very proud to own it, though I have a feeling there will be more pieces to follow. Thank you for your time and effort please keep up the good work

David, congratulations. I think Exeter flatware is an excellent area to collect, some of the spoons are beautifully bright cut engraved and extremely good value. 👍

When you think logically about it your tips on how things age are obvious but that obviousness only comes with the years of experience that you have, thank you very much for sharing 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Listening to todays chat took me back over 40 years to my silversmithing and jewellery days (Psalter lane Sheffield). One of my degree pieces was a 15 knuckle silver hinged cigarette box.....seem to recall the hinge took me a full week to fabricate! but with tutorial help it worked beautifully, would remain open at 45°, no loose play. 😌

The specialist skills of the boxmaker must never be underestimated!!
15 knuckles, you couldn’t ask for better 👍

Another really educational video or two Michael ! I learn more each week which does help when out looking at auctions, we are up in York this week looking. We always look at what’s wrong first, like you said in your book, then if we haven’t found any real faults, look at what’s right, which is a good strategy (haven’t bought much recently though !) 👍🏻
