mid-2022 and this game can stand toe to toe with ANY current gen triple A game and do battle better than just about any of them. Absolutely incredible technology, incredible voice acting, amazing gameplay. Probably my favorite of all time. I’m currently working on like, my 5th playthrough and I’m still finding new shit and new things to do. One of the best projects Rockstar ever put out among a series of other incredible Rockstar projects.
This technology blows my mind. I'm playing it now, and never have I seen such beautiful facial capture. It's incredible. I hope the now defunct Team Bondi's new project, through WB games, will be released
I just finished playing through this game earlier, and I'm still blown away over how this was ahead of its time. L.A. Noire is one of those games that are so freaking good that not many recognize.
When I saw the actual main actor for Cole Phelps, I was like, "OH MY GOD!! THAT'S EXACTLY HIS FACE IN THE GAME!" AND, I can't believe they have Brian Krause in this! Mainly has value if you're a fan of Charmed, but still. I need to play this game.
I loved this game. I'd love to see another video or two of the actor's performances in the MotionScanning or the body capture. It's very interesting stuff!
This isn't anything new now as most if not all triple a games do this, but for its time in 2009-2011 this was ground breaking technology and set LA Noire apart from any game that had been made at that point in time. Really wish we would have gotten a sequel or prequel to LA Noire. It was one of my favourite games as a teenager. The story was amazing.
The best thing: This game isn't a run-about-shooting-free-roam-maniac-simulator like GTA. The point of the game is to tell if people are lying. YOU have to decide, and whether you're right or wrong affects your decisions and how the story unfolds. That's what I call awesome.
@Evilhamster95 This game was developed in Australia. In Australia may 20th is Autumn. Its nice to see a game that isn't ALWAYS on American dates or seasons.
The only thing that puts me off are how the hats are placed on top of their heads, just seems wrong. Probably because they were put on after they're analysed.
Ive just started my playthrough after several years of trying to get my hands on a copy, i can confirm to anyone who hasnt played, the game is incredible!! There are small glitches which dont impact gameplay however they are incredibly hilarious
Anyone else noticed that it's Brian Krause at 2:48 ? Leo from Charmed for those of you that don't know. His animation seems to be the best, and cool that he's in the game.
@Mohrkai He said incredible in regards to video games as a whole this past decade, not that this game itself if super amazing and important. This game has awesome facial animations, and he was merely commenting on it.
@ShinFuYux This is why it's called uncanny valley. The closer you get to true realism, the more flaws and subconscious unease you feel. In this case, the eyes strike you as odd, even though the face is more accurate now (which makes it more obvious when their expressions don't fully match the context).
@Neclecful hes not saying it isn't incredible it just needs more work (which will come in time) also the eye lines seem a little static the head seems to be looking at the right places it just the eyes seem a bit off and stiff
@Octamed well this game is looks to be alot like heavy rain, where its built up on cutscenes while there is still gameplay. But in this game it seems to have shooting sessions and stuff but the motion face capture thing would probly be only in cutscenes but its a game that is made up on a balls load of cutscenes so its gonnna be pretty cool
This is the most impressive game for graphics I've ever scene. I hope all game lift up to this level! It's awesome to know this came out of the brains of my country :) Go Australia!
@bbvproductions The PC age isn't "over." With the constant advancement of the hardware and ability to upgrade, PCs will always have their place in gaming. When a new console is released, it's certainly powerful but with a 5 year cycle, the technology available to a PC owner will have considerably outpaced it. Factor in the added utility that a console simply doesn't have. Consoles will continue to advance, but I don't see them advancing to the point of rendering a PC useless anytime soon.
It kind of sucks that the texture department isnt exactly all that great but facial animations,in a way, really make up for it. Lets just hope the actual gameplay is good.
recording the faces seperately from the motion capture, wouldn't that make the facial expressions out of sync with the body movements? nonetheless, it looks great.
I swear, more games need to incorporate this technology.
L.A. Noire was an underrated masterpiece.
Yup buddy.
Always said it has the best face animations in gaming history - never been beaten.
as good as it looks, It is just too expensive and also not flexible if you want full body mocap
this game still looks really good for having come out in 2011. i love that the facial capture serves a practical purpose for questioning characters.
This game was ahead of its time and the technology
Just like almost every Rockstar game has been.
After Completing This Game :
I Realised Most Legends Are Underrated
@@goatlogico Toways kids care only about superficial graphics.
@@Latitz Yeah, Bro
@@Latitz LA Noire was technically developed by Team Bondi and not Rockstar though. It was only published by Rockstar.

Ppl
I've got some unfortunate news for you...
13 yrs out and there’s no comparable game to this masterpiece. Please Rockstar after GTA VI, feel free to make L.A. Noire 2.
Give us L.A. Noire 2 and i'll pre-order 5 copys!
That's what i read too, i just don't understand how this is possible. Thought it sold fairly well..
We want GTA 6 in this graphics
Ronaldo Casper um no we don’t want gta 6 with la noire graphics it’s 9 years old so yea
Who would be like Cole Phelps tho Jack Kelso
Gta 6 and la noire 2 would be a great way to start the 2020’s
I just finished playing through this game earlier, and I'm still blown away over how this was ahead of its time. L.A. Noire is one of those games that are so freaking good that not many recognize.
Rockstar makes the best games, period. I hope to see another game like this one in the future, I've a lot of fun with LA Noire back then
Rockstar publishes great games, but Team Bondi developed this game.
Sure they did.
@@jahidhosssin54456 team bondi made it but they no longer exist
They need to get a new team and work on a 2nd la noire game this game is insane

This game was absolutely unbelievable
Cole phelps could totally star in a live action film
This is insane I love this. It’s like watching the characters in real life. It’s so cool
This was on 2010. PS3/360 was by far the best and the most innovative era of videogames
Gremista tá em tudo que é lugar
That blew my socks off when I saw the real life Cole Phelps!
Every time i see Aaron Staton, i think of one thing, COLE PHELPS!
One of the best games i’ve ever played! I would love a sequence! 🙏🏻

All the actors did a phenomenal job in this one. All real acting with the face and its amazing.

Great work on the facial animations, a lot of the movement on faces has never looked this good in any game. Looking to see the final product.
i was stunned when i saw so detailed expressions in game. All games should use this technology
10 years later
Hallo!
@@farskarsgun3790 you Dutch?
Same.
I never thought there was so much work behind a video game
Because they are R* game
i can't believe this, the game was released since 11 years ago
Continually blurring the lines between games and cinema. Fantastic work.
What if Cole was never dead and he was in the sewers all along

Pretty amazing facial animation! Best in a game ever!
Why the hell is there no L.A. Noire 2??? this game was perfect I wish i could play it all over again
wow, they look so real, this is incredible how far video games have come in just this decade alone
2:09 that is literally Jesse's father from Breaking Bad. I never realized till now!
I was gonna single out Elsa and Roy but then I realized everyone did an amazing job portraying their characters!
The way all the actors still look like cgi in real life
Still amazing in 2022 - I want more of this in VR!
I've been waiting for LA Noire for half a decade. I'm pleased to see that it won't disappoint.
Proud to see the Aussies setting benchmarks!
This tech can only get better. I hope this becomes an industry standard alongside regular mo-cap. The future looks bright...
The game is awesome
The best facial expressions I have ever seen !!!
Cant believe there’s never gonna be a 2nd game
One of the best video games ever made to this day

Seeing Cole Phelps IRL is weird 😂
I want a L.A. Noire 2 and MANHUNT 3
Just finished this game for third time, and I´m pretty sure it wasn´t the last time, love L.A Noire, what a masterpiece.
Looking Aaron staton as real person feels like stimulation vibes from mark Zuckerberg
This + Kinect + 3 more years of developing = Awsome games
So they have their head in a virtual solid bubble and the displacement of their head is what is captured?
Players with autism complained about this game.
They started 5 years ago? That explains why they didn't get much time on making the textures perfect
this would look so much more amazing on a pc.
The only thing that puts me off are how the hats are placed on top of their heads, just seems wrong. Probably because they were put on after they're analysed.
Sounds like a good suspense. Having to read the face to see if somone is lying? Sounds awesome! Cant wait.
Wow. That is a lot of hard work and dedication.
Ive just started my playthrough after several years of trying to get my hands on a copy, i can confirm to anyone who hasnt played, the game is incredible!! There are small glitches which dont impact gameplay however they are incredibly hilarious
they should do this for all games.
The release date is wrong it comes out May 20th
Awesome game, underrated.
2024 video games animations still look like a fucking joke compared to this.
It's nice seeing "Autumn 2011" instead of "Fall 2011" for a change :P
And we never had this kind of facial technology in games like this again.
This looks amazing!
Anyone else noticed that it's Brian Krause at 2:48 ? Leo from Charmed for those of you that don't know. His animation seems to be the best, and cool that he's in the game.
Bloody impressive.
I fall in love with cole phelps
LA Noire was, in a sense, Mad Men: The Game. With the exception of a few actors, practically the Entire cast of that show was in this game.
I want L.A. Noire 2!!!!
abaya abaya
Nabi aman jijiga somali
Same here dude
The piece at 2:51 is perhaps the most remarkably "human". This is some impressive tech.
@Mohrkai He said incredible in regards to video games as a whole this past decade, not that this game itself if super amazing and important. This game has awesome facial animations, and he was merely commenting on it.
A very underrated game :)
ok, John Noble was the final selling point for me, I need this game as soon as it's out...!

@420Hempking he means the way the game handles during gameplay, not how it looks.
Incredible graphics - I hope the gameplay can match it.
this game looks like one massive cut scene
This game is an interactive movie mini series. Very well made.
The faces looks so real like you can see there forehead stuff it’s anazing
Sounds very interesting, might buy it off steam
This looks FANTASTIC!
@Evilhamster95 well the way i put the date goes (day/Month/Year) ascending order, but America (month/day/year) its like jumbled. just wondering
@1991MRjesse I have no idea. I'm swedish and I find it strange aswell.
"It's the future of gaming" - JP
As long as the game doesn't include an awesome murder fatality, Australia should be sweet.
is the main guy from mad men?
@Neclecful hes not saying it isn't incredible
it just needs more work (which will come in time)

No. They didn't use this technology since LA Noire.
They used motion capture
Wow, can't wait to see the final form next year. This is a big leap from using what they have now to capture CGI.
