The sliding tethers have been a well needed innovation for the Hans device. If it had been thought of a lot earlier we may have less drivers opposing against it during the inception of the Hans, I.E Dale Earnhardt Sr.

You should have mentioned that one of the main benefits of the Simpson system is that it provides side support, whereas a hans requires a seat with ears to do the job.

Thanks for the comment. The Simpson device does offer some side support, but no way near the same amount as a seat with ears does. Also, the device is not homologated for side impact, only frontal impact, it is important to keep this in mind.

Correct but for some people replacing a seat is not an option and for the German guys it's nearly impossible to get the ear-seats street-legal on trackday-cars. In this situations the hybrid is the best compromise.
