Been splitting some wood lately. Older but new to the game. Half the work is bending over. Damn ya son! You've saved the day! May the wind be at your back.
I don’t know what I love more - the brilliant idea, or the fact that the video is less than five minutes. Videos have been getting way too long and it really limits all the neat Content we have time to get exposed to.
Good idea! Also to save the bending to pick up all the pieces you might be able to keep them together and carry them to the wood pile before removing the chain and bungee.
Genius idea. Here’s my revelation: I went from a huge, heavy splitter to a Fiskars design. Like night and day. The big one is now just used for those really stubborn blocks. Thanks.
Thank you. I also try to swing only as hard as I need to to, to get it to split, rather than making every swing 100%. It is actually quicker and more efficient.
Oh my gawd, so simple, can’t believe I’ve been missing that for years! Lotsa big trees in British Columbia, various sizes, this will work on them all. Thank you!
That’s brilliant. On that front though, unfortunately a lot of our hardwoods in Australia just can’t be split, even with a heavy head. Will keep it in mind for the older, softer stuff though. Great job.
Nice work guy! Pretty slick. That maul kinda looks similar to one I got. Trooper 12 lb. You ever get elbow pain? I wrap some foam pipe insulation around my handle and gorilla tape over that. It stops that shockwave from going into your arms.
A tire is bulky, but a thrown retread....... now there's the sweet spot. Accommodates multiple rounds of different sizes and holds them all together while you bust them up.
Dude! Where has this hack been all my life!! Also, this is a safety thing; I had a log of Silver Maple blow apart and hit me in the ankle and it hurt like a B****!
I usually carry to my wood stack to pile with the chain still on it, but for demonstration purposes, I knocked them down for viewers to see the end result.
I once saw a vid (can't find it anymore) where a guy put about 12 rounds on the ground, lashed them all, and he split all the rounds without handling any of them...

And the sun to your face!
Oh man are you right about that!
I can only imagine how many millions of people have split logs over the Centuries without thinking of doing this. You are a very clever guy.

Yes, I usually take the whole bundle at once to be piled but I pulled it apart for this video to show all the pieces.
Very good idea...Greetings from Germany Peter...
Great video no annoying intro no talking gibberish no annoying music just straight to the point
Been using a tire to hold the log to be split but it only accepts a limited size of log. This is a good idea dude. Can’t wait to give it a try.
Same here- old truck tire- don’t know why I didn’t think of this. 😳🍺
Genius idea. Here’s my revelation: I went from a huge, heavy splitter to a Fiskars design. Like night and day. The big one is now just used for those really stubborn blocks. Thanks.
Strong guy to swing that heavy maul all those timea 👏💕👍⚒🌲🔥
That idea is as handy as a pocket on a shirt! 🤠
You make that look easy lol. Good job, definitely trying this out.
Thank you. I also try to swing only as hard as I need to to, to get it to split, rather than making every swing 100%. It is actually quicker and more efficient.
Ash is your best friend here.

Brilliant
I used to put the round inside a couple of tires stacked together too the same effect but this is even slicker. 👍
You are my HERO!!
My back is thanking you, right now.
Gotta love the simplicity of this. Why didn't I think of this decades ago?
What a great idea that was very smart young man. Thanks for showing it to us.
Great idea...I've got plenty to split in the spring....this will save time and bending over. Thanks for sharing.
This is a great idea. Thanks for sharing.
Deeply satisfying to watch. Grand idea
Nice work! Very efficient! Bravo that man!
So many times I am disappointed watching these types of videos.
This was a pleasant surprise. Keep up the good work!
Отличный результат!
Привет из Москвы!
Great idea! My splitting station is above my wood store so this is going to save my aging back. 😂😂
I live an urban reality and don't have to deal with this type of work.
But still, that was effing brilliant !! Thanks for posting ~~~
Ffs I used to chop sticks when I was young and it was dam hard work, if only yt was out then , love the video ❤❤
This broke the internet for me.
Sir, thank you kindly for sharing this.
Brilliant! I will definitely copy you. Thank you!!
Great idea!
Love it :) thanks. You just saved my back.

Try the Fiskars splitting maul, it's awesome.
@@jimminyjemimah try coming over here and hand splitting most Eucalyptus! Sorry to say but it ain’t happening.
What a brilliant idea thanks for sharing.
Nice tip. I couldn't imagine doing that without a log splitter
I use axe, thought frozen blocks are splitting nicely in Scandinavian winter, only short daylight is challenging.
Great idea. Just wish when i was younger i got wait til it was weathered to chop instead of vise versa.
Slick! Nice upgrade for the job!
Super tip! New to the channel and enjoy the content
Very good job and idea as well!😊💪
Bravissimo ottima idea e ottima soluzione e ottimo lavoro....👍👏👏
Super-Double Brilliant!!!!! Thank You.
Nice bit of Newspeak. Orwell would have loved it.
Wow, I wish I had seen this 40 years ago.
That is so very excellent!
I'm 64 I learned something today
Nice work guy! Pretty slick. That maul kinda looks similar to one I got. Trooper 12 lb. You ever get elbow pain? I wrap some foam pipe insulation around my handle and gorilla tape over that. It stops that shockwave from going into your arms.
Fortunately no, never get elbow pain.
Great tecnic thankyou for sharing it
Lol, sweet👍👍👍👍 "practical Polock" 😁
Nice shot !!
I wish I had some of that wood to make some woodwork. That would keep me warm (at least my heart...).
That is pretty slick.
Great video. Much easier to obtain than a used tire which tire change places are hesitant to give out due to fear of being sued.
Just borrow your neighbors spare.

Thanks for posting
Hmmm, how about leaving the chain on and rolling it right to the shed ? Brilliant system 👍
On other comments he says that that's what he does. He only took it off to show us the end result.
I like it. Good job.
Oh that’s a good idea especially for large sections like that
Dude's a genius
This is genius.
Damn, you're good.
Yep but it’s a whole different ballgame when your wood isn’t all nice straight grained and perfect like you have for the video!
Witty Brad man.😊
Pure genius.
Brilliant! 👍😎👍
Pretty cool method. 👍
If you got smaller pieces then the splitting tire is a way to go ... you never bend down to pickup the splits anymore.
man,that axe is damn heavy
WOW !!! Way cool.
Works great on a clear piece of ash…but how does it work with a knotty piece of sugar maple that you’ve really got to wale on?
Game changer 👍😁
Immediately saved under "Misc Clever Shit" 💪
Too smooth… 👍🏼
Ash?
heated my homes for 2 years, real good exercise, BUT, I wish I thought of this.
Brilliant. Thanks
If the base log was shorter you could have more downward force with the same amount of effort.
Maybe ?
I only swing as hard as I need to, not as hard as I can. I can definitely swing harder, but it's better to work smarter, not harder.
@@bjmatushyep, that's why I've always used a 10 or 12 lb maul , let it do the work👍
Just wow!
good idea
Like a boss!!!
Enjoy this while you’re young, as an old timer now, the body can’t do it any longer.
May I ask what year you rolled of the production line?😅 I'm 34 now and starting to get little problems. Like shoulder and knee.
All this can be adjusted, I am 54 and still climb trees, ride 40 mile bike trip, split wood....
Good idea.
Simple but genius
Outstanding.
Now, if he looked rich, this video would have 6 million views. Get that man a quarter-zip, and roll up the sleeves. Maybe agyle, maybe baby-blue.
Just like that👏🏽💪🏽.
Buckin Billy Ray doesn't need a chain and bungee...
stupid question...why a chain and a bungee....why not just a bungee?
Because it makes it adjustable to accommodate different size logs
When do you get to the big log?
I finished the log before you finished wrapping.
not bad, not bad
Genius. thx!
Yeah, but there's something satisfying about the two halves flying apart halfway across your yard after bringing the axe down.
Dude! Where has this hack been all my life!! Also, this is a safety thing; I had a log of Silver Maple blow apart and hit me in the ankle and it hurt like a B****!
You can move the splitted wood with the chain
Sorcerery: he is a witch!
Great idea, but I bet the wood needs to be properly dry eh!?
Just wondering if you mod the setup, say with 2 bungee, 2 chains roll it into a bucket or closer to your stack.....like it all the same good job.
WHAT A TIME SAVER !
You mean I've been splitting wood for forty years and......🤣
Wao muy hermoso
Tu cuerpo ,tu fuerza ,linda sonrisa
Excelente felicitaciones 💪😚
Brilliant
An old tire I find is as good or better cos you can put alot of smaller logs in at once, try it you can see if you like it.
Why couldn't you use the chain and Bungie on a bunch of smaller logs together too?
Klasse idee
