  • In this video 6 of 6 in the series I put the final touches on my Danish styled pipe, put the final sealer coat on the dyed briar then buff the completed pipe.
    To purchase my pipes please visit my website at sedercraft.com/ . If no pipes are currently available you can sign-up for my newsletter where I announce when pipes are available.

    Shellac is an amazing finish. No matter how many coats you put on it melts into itself hiding the layers before the new one to create on even layer

    You are an amazing pipe maker and teacher of pipe making . Very through … this series helped me understand more what I need to do to begin making pipes , especially bent shank pipes , than any of the other videos I have watched (which I believe has been most of them on TH-cam ) this is a gorgeous pipe and if I can get to making pipes half as beautiful I will be very pleased ! Thank you for your service ! ✌🏻🤟🏻🤘🏻💜🙏🏻~*~

    Thank you for this! Question: How did you get the airway hole and tenon hole to become one single hole? Could you post a pic of the stem removed? These videos are so helpful. Thanks again

    • @kraigseder
      @kraigseder  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That would be a good short video I could do. What I do is drill the airway and tobacco chamber using the same pivot point. The angle of the tenon is different, but the bottom of the tenon hole intersects with the airway hole. I'll make a short video in a few days showing one of the templates I made so you can see exactly how it's drilled.

    Kraig, love your pipes, how long did you let the pipe dry after wet sanding before moving on to the next steps? And have you had any issues with the water changing the fit of the stem?

    • @kraigseder
      @kraigseder  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      In front of a fan the briar will dry very fast since it's so dense. Usually an hour or two in front of a fan will dry it. I've never had a problem with wet sanding effecting the stem fit. I wet sand with the stem on and then remove the stem when it's drying. Do not try and put the stem back in until the briar is completely dry. I've never had wet sanding effect the stem fit.

    I enjoy your video! Btw I have question, about what grit sandpaper you used on wet sanding for remove stain?

    • @kraigseder
      @kraigseder  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m glad you enjoyed the video. I usually use 1200 grit when wet sanding.

  • @nathanbour1010

    Thanks so much for these videos. One thing has been confusing me regarding the drilling of the airway and and mortise on bent pipes. On this pipe you drilled the airway first, then mortise. With a bent pipe, is it normal to have the airway hole showing on the bottom of the shank like you have here? Don’t know if that makes sense but at the 1:43 mark the airway hole is visible. I can’t figure out if that’s the way it should be or not? I was making a pipe and trying to avoid that but by avoiding it I incorrectly drilled the airway. Thanks for showing these techniques.
