Sorry for not showing the oil change and reason for that is because the skid I have in the Jeep does not align with drain plug. The skid has a hole to allow for the oil to pass through and that is misaligned and works for previous Jeep 392. It got messy and decided not to add that.

Every 392 I’ve owned blow by quite a bit of oil.

I agree and has the 392 Charger and there has been a decent amount during every oil change. Imagine using a vehicle for 75k miles and not having one.

Which catch can kit is that?

Great question and this is the one from J&L Oil Separator Company. I added the link in the description. Sorry for not having it, slipped my mind.

Your Hemi is not direct injection so there is really no benefit to installing a catch can. It is only on direct injection engines that there is concern with carbon buildup on the valves. Port injection engines have fuel wash that is always cleaning the intake valves. Note that some manufacturers are adding a fuel injector to the intake manifold on direct injection motors specifically to help clean the intake valves.

Bottom line is...do you need a catch can? No..as the factory ignition has more than enough power to burn off the residue and not effect emissions. BUT....say you put a tune on you car "requiring" premium fuel. Could that un-captured oily atmosphere then make a difference? Yes.....could cause a degree of engine pinging. A can would eliminate that. But beside all that, I guess you have to ask yourself do I want all that oily air constantly circulating through my intake system? If no big deal, leave it alone. If it is, a catch can will eliminate the issue.

@@AnayanationAutoDetailing Bottom line, installing a catch can on a port injected engine won’t harm anything, unless you forget to empty it, but it is not necessary. Also, it doesn’t matter how much compression a direct injection engine has, there is going to be carbon buildup on the intake valves and that is when a catch can is useful. Also, the 392 manual says "Use of gasoline with an octane number lower than recommended octane can cause engine failure and may void the New Vehicle Limited Warranty." ... "The use of 91 or higher octane “Premium” gasoline is required in these engines." So even the factory tune requires premium fuel as the knock sensors do not retard timing on a 392. You WILL damage your 392 if you don’t run premium fuel, even without a custom tune. Catch can on a port injected engine is for the OCD, but won’t hurt to have it… just a waste of money as it adds no value. Catch cans add much value to direct injection engines, especially supercharged engines!
