I live about 1 1/2 hr north of blue river. Me and my wife love this river, and we go all year long. caught my first Smallie this year on a ned rig. From large and small mouth in the summer, trout in the winter, and catfish always good fishing. Probably the most scenic kayaking trip in the state and easy to paddle back where you started
Great trip! Went there one time in the winter near Tishomingo and it was crowded with people. We hiked a trail along to get away from the crowed area and we came across a guy sitting in a chair fishing with a shotgun under his chair lol. Said hi to him and asked if he caught anything yet. He said yes, and he brought his shotgun to keep folks away from his honey hole! We kept going and found a spot to fish caught some nice ones.
@@pinhookfishingclub what a crazy story! I know it can be crowded in winter but I've never fished there during that time. I plan to try it this year if I can.
I've fished Blue River. Its better thru winter into sping months otherwise it is seriously snakey AF till Fall. Good trout fishing in places in thru winter
Hey dude cool video! I’ve been trout fishing here a few times but would like to try smallmouth towards the end of summer. Where did you put your kayak in at? Not sure if I’ll need mine that time of year but would like the option if it’s worth bringing.
@@brackcantrell3189 Thanks for watching! We just found a spot as close to the water as possible for our truck to launch. If you launch in the campgrounds there is a spot right down by the water in the bend of the river. I marked the areas we fished on a map in the video.
Those aren't bluegill hybrids...those are green sunfish (lepomis cyanellus). The one with purplish coloration looked to be a pumpkinseed/green sunfish hybrid.

Im also from OKC. Great video. You definitely got a new subscriber
Dude! I could almost feel the bite of the fish at 9:30, watching your line move and the fish swimming with the bait- Ça c'est bon!
I love this place dude. I may get a tube just for fishing there.
@@jabronijoeoutdoors your yak is perfect for the river, nice and light and very durable. Your video has me wanting to go fish some rivers!
@@joecarnyman I want to plan a river trip where I stop and camp overnight along the bank somewhere. Maybe you can join in!
Nice fish brother!
Goin this weekend I'm only 30 minutes away, an my job own a pecan orchard on the river
I fished the blue a little bit when I was in college at Ada. Used to be full of big small mouth and spotted bass was a good time
Still is, my man! I try to go once a year after the trout crowds have cleared away. Though I might give the trout thing a shot this year winter.
@@jabronijoeoutdoors that was a great video!
@@jabronijoeoutdoors Caught my first rainbow in late winter this year at Blue. Going this weekend to see how bad the crowds are.

@@donhaworth5862 I mainly go for bass fishing, but I'm gonna do some fly stuff for trout this winter now that I have a fly rod. Thanks for watching!

Oh I see it now thanks man! What month were you fishing in this video by the way?
@@brackcantrell3189 This was the last week of September last year.
Loved the video! Could you tell us where yall launched on the river?
We launched at the bend in the river by the campgrounds in the morning, and up by Desperado Springs after lunch.

Thanks for watching and the information! Admittedly, I am terrible at identifying sunfish species.
Where did yall put in at?
I marked the areas on a map in the video. We started down in the campgrounds by the rivers bend, then we went up to Desperado Springs.
