They are painful to look at though - it's hard to accept that all the beauty, love and labor could not last more than a handful of years. "Wingwood" was a peculiar house, originally it was a smaller Craftsman style cottage but the Stotesburys enlarged it and transformed it into a Federal style mansion. Not all of the re-design was successful: the door in the center of the portico is fake - the circular staircase is on the other side of the wall.
