A Rarely Staged Masterpiece: Unveiling the Mystic Nigra Sum Sed Formosa

學術界對作曲家迪施華生平所知甚少，僅知道他曾在羅馬為教宗良十世工作，1522年起轉職至曼圖亞家族。1510至30年間是他創作力最旺盛的日子，儘管今天只留下少量作品，他的作品仍被奉為16世紀初聖樂瑰寶。《我雖然黑，卻是秀美》以四部輪唱開始，由第五聲部唱出貫穿全曲的「固定旋律」，全曲氣氛溫暖動人。
There is little known about the composer de Silva, except that he once worked in Rome for Pope Leo X and later in the service of the Mantua family starting in 1522. The period from 1510 to 1530 was his most prolific time as a composer, and although only a small number of his works have survived to this day, they are still regarded as treasures of sacred music from the early 16th century. Nigra sum sed formosa (I am Black, but Comely) begins with a four-part canon, with the fifth voice singing the cantus firmus that runs throughout the entire composition, creating a warm and flowing atmosphere.
