As a man, I can relate to these lyrics. After 12 years and several children, I walked away from a woman I love and still do. Her love of alcohol exceeded that of me and our children. Loving her has made it difficult to seriously move on but as Mary says, “love will return”, some day. For now it’s me and my babies.

I behaved stupidly mistaking a long term relationship for real love and 6 years ago while driving in the car with my then 2 year old, his child, I heard this song. He hid the birth of his other child from me for a year. Once I learned of the baby, I could do nothing but shed tears. Praise God for healing through the grace of time gives. I'm better for it.
