Lining in Russia, it's very important for me to see a foreigner fucking baffled by it. It helps me see, that I don't live in a normal situation. I swear, it used to different. The "I'll surely go to prison for this" mentality never went away out of my life, but there was a time I wasn't so scared. I want to cry every time I realise how scared I actually am every day. It's not normal. It can be different.

You do not live in a normal situation! This is not the world. 10% of the population (and how about relatives and friends) oppressed in a way I thought only by countries like where women wear burkas and are never seen in public or go to school. Oppression in Russia for such a natural human experience as being gay is more criminal than vice versa. Hope that makes sense. I had no idea this still existed and I’ll show this to my gay and straight ally friends (which would be everyone I know).

It seems that this report was filmed in 2014. This is very important - 11 years have passed, and everything has changed completely. The LGBT community is officially recognized as an extr*m*ist organization and is banned by law, protests (like in the video) are practically impossible, and many LGBT activists have been ki*lled.
It is important for people to understand that this is not the current situation in Russia; since 2014, things have gotten MUCH worse.

      @@zazu_furry Actually, no.
There are laws in Russia that prohibit extremist activity. However, Russian court (which is not justiceful at all and is under the control of Putin) considers any opposition as extremism.
For example, Fond Bor'by s Korruptsiyey (Anti-Corruption Foundation) and Shtaby Naval'nogo (Navalny's headquarters) (network of Alexei Navalny's (Russian opposition leader from early 2010s to his murder in 2024) team and supporters),
Ya/My Furgal (I/We Furgal) (movement of support of illegally imprisoned governor of Khabarovsk krai Sergey Furgal due to him being fairly elected instead of pro-Putin candidate, fairly doing his job, and being more popular than Putin in Khabarovsk krai. Supportes of this movement demand for release of Furgal and resignation of Putin),
      And LGBTQ+ community as well.
So there is a penalty for participating in extremist organisations, founding extremist organisations, showing exremist symbolic, and financing extremist organisations. If you are not straight or/and cisgender, you'll definitely break the law in some of this cases just by the fact of your existance. And there are people who already suffered from this. Here are some examples
Anastasia Ershova was arrested for 5 days for wearing LGBT+ flag earrings
Alexander Klimov, Diana Kamil'yanova, and Vyacheslav Hasanov were arrested as an art-director, administrator, and owner of queer club Pose in Orenburg. They can be sentenced up for 10 years in prison
Unknown person (probably Ilya Zhuravlyov, but the source cannot be checked). His case details are unknown, but he is formally arrested due to participating in extremist organisation.

I love the sentiment in this video of how we all need equality - but try to be careful with the “we’re better than them because we have equality” smugness… let’s not forget Alan Turing was castrated a handful of decades ago after literally INVENTING THE COMPUTER AND WINNING WORLD WAR II!
And here in the US, Lawrence v. Texas just happened in 2003!
A kid born that day still would not be allowed to drink… we literally had similar laws as the Russians less than the age of a kid ago-

We humans we have the autonomy over our own life and we should be free of being who the fuck we want to be we shouldn’t be asking for permission on any government or person or religion to be how we want to be or accepting how we are and want to live because everybody should be worrying about their business. Repressing things doesn’t stop them just hide the reality but those “kids” will grow and find the truth

I think sometimes the powers that be at a national level (i.e. leader of a nation) makes the simplest of things far more complicated and a burden than they need to be. Focusing on such attributes in a certain demographic within that society is at best, short sighted, at worst - unfair, undeserved, and unjust.
For the record, I'm a card-carrying heterosexual, female, nearly 60 years of age, born n bred, living, and will eventually die, in Australia. As a mother ( 2 sons 29yo and daughter 26yo) I can deeply and sincerely say I could not care less what they choose in terms of their sexuality (for the record also, 1 son hetero, 1 daughter hetero, 1 son asexual). My judgement - as with anyone I meet regardless of circumstance - is are they a good person? Do they live by generally accepted, respectful values? Contrary to the doctrines of my own upbringing, I don't give a toss if they do or don't subscribe to any religious doctrine. The so called Ten Commandments are not necessarily a Christian governance - living by them just makes you a decent person whatever faith or not you believe in and/or live by.
Born in 1965 in Seymour, Victoria (Australia). The things in your life that make you stand out different to others - whoa. I am an 'only child' - that once got me loads of sympathy "... oh wow, how can you live not having a brother or sister ... how will you cope - your parents are so SELFISH!" (Not their choice. Mum had a medical condition that destroyed her hopes of having a bigger family). I was an 'only child' - OMG but how that wound up biting me in the ass "you only got ONE set of parents hahahaha I'm on my THIRD!!!". Even WORSE - I was (and despite aging considerably) - AM, a REDHEAD - yes! I am a RANGA! ... Face it, if it wasn't either of those two points, kids will search far and wide and if they don't come up with anything tangible will just invent something to justify their perception of you being DIFFERENT. I got picked on about my surname. The street I lived in. The type of dog we had .. in the vernacular of my 2020 something kids, WHAT THE*EVA!!! Sadly, despite their millenium-ages long belief "they know best", "adults" are often no better. That is very, very sad. You'd think as mature, life-experienced adults who have had more than enough opportunity to see what really matters, and really ... we have much more significant things to moan about.
Ok, having come through all of that so called life or character building rot, living in 2024 and seeing what apparently leads online community "news" (??!) at best lunatic armchair laptop self-promoted "experts" on the subject, when it comes to ABC ... DF... LBQT WHATEVER, I do not feel that criteria worthy of prominence in judging any person - any more than the colour of their hair, their place in the family lineage, their religeon, creed, whether they are purple with yellow spots. All I expect, as a member of a community, a society, is that we our lives demonstrating humankindness, tolerance for any perceived or actual difference in others, leaving such judgement to our human betters i.e., whatever God or deity one does or maybe does not believes in. There is not, nor will there be, a mere mortal human being equipped to do so. All we can do is use our humankind gifts as nest we can "for the greater good". I wish the world to coexist in harmony, working as best we can towards our common goals as human beings. Life on this very unique, very limited in resources planet, requires ingenuity and respect for a global community - there is no moral place for any belief of uniqueness or higher entitlement over others. The majority of us can work with that. We are pretty much entry level humans. We're average. Barely making minimum wage, just living day by day. Nothing special. Our vision for our future is simply that there be no problem in having our basic humankind needs met by those in power to make that happen. Sadly, we are reliably disappointed by the values and purpose of those in such a position, who typically use their privilege to make sure their own needs are met above and beyond the needs of those who elect them for whom they achieve a position in the world capable of meeting such need, My God, what a diabolical abuse of privelege that is.
I absolutely HATE having to enunciate this, but seriously - keep our minds above navel level, there is more to judge a person by. Look at your felllow human as a partner in life's journey, whichever milestone or touchpoint you meet them. Give, and do, as you would like others to give and do for and to you. Nothing biblical about it - just humankindness and decency.
The world is facing so many terrible, gut wrenching, soul searching realities. It is not about how many luxury yachts we own, how many different holiday venues we have. It's about recognising the challenges humankind face - as a global community, and how each of us can contribute towards that vision of global wellbeing. Who we share our sheets (or hearts) with, should never, ever be a criteria by which we judge people. Come on. We're supposed to be the most intellligent form of life on this planet - we're embarrasssing ourselves. We must be better than that. Or we can simply resign ourselves to accept that without a better attitude to humankind and the Earth we call home is set up to fail, and that is on us.
