I became an Easy Spanish member because I teach beginning and low ingtermediate level classes for retired people who want to learn Spanish. Whenever I find something suitable for the level I'm teaching, I recommend your videos because, as a non-native speaker of Spanish, I know that it's important to hear native Latin Americans talking. You often deal with topics that have a lot of interest from a cultural standpoint. You have become more skilled with pacing and limiting the scope of some videos to make them more accessible to learners at the beginner end of the scale. But having English subtitles makes it possible to use your videos for their cultural content, even when the pace is too fast or too complex foir beginners. This video (12 filler words) is especially useful for learners who are trying to undrstand informal native speaker language. You are doing a great job! I think the Japanese man uses the filler word - "este" a lot because Japanese people often use a similar sounding filler word in their own language - "eh.toh" ( ええと）to indicate hesitancy in what they are about to say. Por cierto, me encantan sus videos. Pues, muchas gracias, o sea le agredezco. Jaja.

For este you could translate as ‘so’ or ‘like this’ or ‘this thing’ and most english speakers would understand. It seems like it means ‘this thing/conept ive just mentioned/described’. Hope this helps.

En turco decimos "ishte" en una manera muy similar a "este". Las raices de esas palabras son totalmente diferentes. Es pura coincidencia

We are always ¿no? In oour daily life and I'm confused what does it really mean or if it's just a shorten word for 'ano' which means 'what?'
i know where and when to use this ¿no? But thinking about what ,why we use it and where it came from making me crazy knowing that most of our words we use today are mixed with english and spanish. Most of the time I'm confused which word I use is tagalog or spanish.😂

Vaina is a very Caribbean thing. We use it for everything. In my country also if you say que vaina means what an issue/ what a problem. And also Bueno as to remark a -regularly- bad situation. Ex if someone says: que vaina! I'm paying for internet service and the connection is terrible and won't be able to switch for the next year or so... The recipient might just respond: bueeeenooooo......

Juan, do you know what "en plan" means? Thank you for the help
"En plan" means "like" as in the way you do or say something. For example:
- He laughed and she looked at him LIKE what the fuck??
- Él se rió y ella lo miraba EN PLAN ¿qué carajos?
Sometimes, it can also express the intention of the speaker when you're giving reasons for something you did/do/will do (or something you say too), kinda like a substitute to the word "because". But this may be slightly harder to understand because, grammatically, it doesn't really make sense: "lo hice EN PLAN... generoso". It's very colloquial and a literal translation would be "I did it in plan... generous", which means I did it because I wanted/intended to be generous, in plans of being generous. And I just remembered that in english you can express your intention with the word "to" also, as in "I'll do it TO make her smile" -> "Lo haré EN PLAN.... PARA hacerla sonreír". Again, doesn't really make sense, it's just a filler word. I gotta say tho that this second use isn't the usual but I thought it wouldn't hurt to mention it as well. Hope this helps.

En España, no decimos nunca "híjole", ni "este" ,ni "ahorita ",el "pues" se dice pero no tan repetitivo, y sí, significa lo obvio.

“Entonces!” is my go-to filler word.
yea i like entonces because its 3 syllables as opposed to 2 or 1 so you get maximum stall time for each time you say it. honestly its a 200 iq word

I was surprised to hear you say "empezamos a hacer" and pronounce the word "a" separately from the word hacer.
It seems like something a non-native speaker of Spanish would say. Typically we hear it all as just one word, as if the word were ahacer.

Aunque sabemos que es a hacer. Creo que lo dijo de esta forma por una cuestión educativa.
Muchas personas (incluso hablantes nativos), confunden "a ser" con "a hacer".

@@EasySpanish - No hay duda que los hablanes nativos NO se confunden cuando hablan, pero solo de veze en cuando cuando esciban.
Tambien sucede con los hablantes nativos de ingles, cuando personas se confundan entre "they're" y "their." Suenan igual al decierlo, pero tienen significados diferentes. No se si me explico?

The only word I know in Serbian is "I know" (znasch) because my Serbian roommate growing up would always talk to her mom back home about how I was always saying "sabes? sabes? sabes?" and in English "you know? you know? you know?" jajaja

Nuestra variante del castellano tiene numerosas diferencias (nuestro acento está influido por el italiano, al igual que infinidad de palabras y expresiones que comprendemos pero que jamás usamos o que reemplazamos, nunca usamos "pues" coloquialmente, usamos el modo "vos" en lugar de "tú", lo cual afecta la conjugación verbal: "tú tienes", sería "vos tenés", casi nunca usamos la forma compuesta: "he tenido" sería "tuve" y bueno... no sigo porque seguramente hayas tenido ya la inmensa dicha de conocer a un argentino)... 😅Podrías incluirlo a uno en un video futuro, maybe.

I have listened over and over and cannot hear the words 😆
Yes, many of the people interviewed speak so fast that they don’t even pronounce the words completely. I can understand what they say, but for learners it’s quite tricky.

Gracias por este video! I watch you every day at my lunch! Yes! Soy de California y tenemos muchas palabras que están "fillers." We use "like," "yeah," "um," "No way," "Ya know?" "I mean" "n stuff," "I don't know," and so many more. I think we share so much across cultures. I know when I say, "I don't know,"...well, I do know. I just don't want to come off too strong or maybe I'm not sure if the person can understand, so it's a sign of giving up.

El uso de "este" en 5:20 parece similar a "you know" en Inglés. A veces ciertas personas dicen "you know" cada tres palabras. Hasta que no se suporte escucharlo.

I know this is an old video, but it’s done so well because you actually show real Spanish speakers using this word when they’re not even told to use it. They’re using it naturally. I never knew how important filler words were until now and I’ve been learning Spanish on and off for like 4 years. Better now then never.

El ¨siempre¨ es otra muy común.
Varios ejemplos:
¿Y siempre qué pasó? (¿Y al final qué pasó?)
No, pus siempre no fuimos. (No, pues al final no fuimos)
¨¿Y siempre en qué terminó? ¿Y siempre sí pudiste acompañar a tu hermano?¨
Equivalente de "este" y sobre usado por algunas personas en USA es "you Know." Suavizar en USA "little bit."

Te entiendo, yo creo que lo ideal es a veces no pensar en cada palabra. Sobre todo si la persona esta muy animada o en un contexto informal
*son lo más molesto de todo el idioma, *por mi mal español, para disculparte lo mejor es utilizar "lo siento" o "me disculpo por.."
