Crazy that you barely discovered this song. It's been probably my all time favorite song of any genre since the release of the album. It still blows me away every time I hear it. What a masterpiece.
An absolutely beautiful giant of a song. Fell in love with Daft Punk's music once I got into my teen years which is when I was exploring electronic/dance music. They had a amazing career.
I agree, there's so many great underrated songs on Random Access Memories, although Touch is one of the best journeys in music history. It's a never skip for sure
Great video Trey thanks for the review :) I think this song - with the focus on 'touch' and people being apart longing to be close - is apt given all the Covid 'lockdown' shennanigans going on across the world (probably why the song gives me such strong emotions having not seen some close family for a year). I first heard the song on the soundtrack of the US show 'Mr Robot' - it was a hugely poingnant turning point in the series and this song was perfect for it. 100% agree with you on being an 8 minute song that doesn't feel long... it's credit to Daft Punk on their ability to keep you hooked throughout. The 'ragtime' part you called out gives a lot of vibes of one of their big hits 'Get Lucky' (which is the next song on the album coincidentally!). It's also no surprise they used the choir 'hold on' part on the outro of their 'Epologue' finale video. Very fitting with the goosebumps and almost spiritual feel it brings. Hope others enjoy it too!
the irony though, is the song is about needing more than touch, how touch alone wasn't cutting it to satisfy the soul, that its love instead. perhaps we can still foster and experience love without touch
If your looking for more classic French artists like them, I can help you with pleasures. If it’s the and of daft punk, never forget, there also producers….

If you're going to do anymore Daft Punk you simply have to react to 'Georgio by Moroder'.
