Lovely to see this again with my darling mum, unfortunately we lost her to cancer in 2016 Aged 57.
Lovely to hear her laugh again.

She always reminds me of Liberace, her joy of playing and having fun with n her piano.

Never heard of Mrs Mills before now. Now that I've seen this I'm reminded of my own Mother's playing on the family piano. She was so popular she was usually invited to play at all sorts of gatherings. At was astonished watching her reading those complicated looking squirls bounced together. My Mother gave us a love for music. My Mother played the very music Mrs Mills played as well a wide variety of light opera. I look back fondly to that time. I can now live it all over again. Greetings from Ireland.

As a self taught stride player myself, I loved this doco. It really helped me understand why and how I manage it.

I always thought Mrs Mills played simple stuff but this stride technique is actually very very difficult in the left hand! She really was quite talented!

Came across this video today after seeing a news story about the Abbey Road studio doing a "visitor experience" and mentioning the piano of Mrs Mills - a name that had completely escaped my memory.
My dad used to have a lot of her albums, I particularly remember the cover of the seaside postcard one. At the time (I'd have been around 10 years old), I hated these tunes, but looking back now, there's a definite nostalgia to them.
I'm particularly reminded of Scott Bradley (Post Morden Jukebox) who has a TH-cam channel of him belting out tunes on a piano, and there's a very similar vibe between Mrs Mills and some of his ragtime stuff.
Great documentary. Brought back a lot of memories of people and places now long gone.

Mrs Mills was not known by me until 2016 but I know her songs bring memories to me and many more during the 1940's her in Britain.

There is a difference between Stride Piano and Ragtime. Often people refer to Stride Piano while all they're doing is playing an easy Ragtime-like melody

I can remember years ago at junior school, the dinner ladies coming into the class room during break where we all hid and watch them bash out old time hits on the piano and a sing song.

Even after her death the Beatles had to retain a 'copyright' on releasing this documentary??!¬!....The 'plastic surgeon' should have given Paul an extra 'jab' when he was doing the job!!...There were some nice compliments given about her mastery of the 'stride' piano playing (on the left hand)....I've got to give them that much!!!...It's amazing---how the English even 'malign' you afgter you'e dead and can't defend yourself!!!

As a fan of Michael Sands I consider him better than all the previous piano players he imitates, perhaps just because he is thinner, younger, and more agile than she was.

The first time I heard the Beatles on Ed Sullivan, I thought they were awful and I’m still of that opinion! I take Mrs Mills over the “unfab four” anytime.
