I pray the guy was kidding around but the look on Ryans face when he asked him if it was a hairdryer was priceless and makes me think that no, he was dead serious.
Does it weaken the blade if you heat it up and curve it the way you like it? Cause i got a great deal on a Warrior stick but they only had one curve left and i hate it. I wanna curve it the way i want it. If i do is it gonna break when i use it?
when he was taping his stick i thought it was fast-forwarding but then ryan started talking and i was like "holly crap , this guy tapes fast!" it takes me forever because my tape jobs have to be perfect
you can tell he tapes his stick every period but the sheer speed, he didnt even make 1 mistake when he taped it, there is not one thing not to love about smyth.....
wood is definitely a great feel but it is heavy and I never liked bottom heavy sticks. Definitely slows down your stickhandling but feels unreal..I got used to the new one pieces but I played so much with wood sticks I still miss the feel. The new composites are like a tin feel compared to wood
lol i laughed so hard at that. someone also joked about the ice cleaner in edmonton had to borrow his stick to clean off some snow. that's what i heard.
Titanium sticks????? Standard hair dryer.... jesus don't send a bender like that to a rink. The look on Smyth's face when he asked about the hair dryer is priceless!
Just what I thought, it is NOT a standard hair dryer he is using, it's a heat gun. Industrial enough to create more heat to bend wood. This is what the pros use.
Wooden sticks should be mandatory in the NHL period!.... basically its professionals using a aluminum bat in the NHL. Bring back the talent.. that's one step
Lol what dude basically every player now is a bender getting companys to bend over backwards for customized gear, it wasnt always like that really, now every defenseman on every team has his own curve made.. What do you think wanting a custom personal curve is ? How many players have there own blades specifically made by the company so they dont have to ? alot lol. are u serious lmfao. Nike actually kind of failed because they kept making super personalized stuff that never really ended up working when theyd try to sell it to consumers. Nowadays that approach would work alot better imo. They had some legit shafts and gloves in the late 90s that i wish i could get my hands on again. They had a really nice kevlar wrapped easton ultralight type shaft but the grip was rounder and alot more like how todays sticks are.
fuck heat guns i just turn my stove on and use the element to curve my blades. i still use a wooden blade with a composite shaft. i like to have my own custom curve.
@tub214hi I'm Canadian, of course I play hockey! I've played since I was 3 years old. I'm also an astrophysicist, so I am pretty confident I have far more knowledge of friction coefficients and classical mechanics than you.
how is a composite stick with a wood shaft 'old school'? Aluminum, buddy. Wood blades... grab a blowtorch and bend that blade up nice Bobby Hull style.
"Is that a standard hair dryer?"
Wow. Just wow
I pray the guy was kidding around but the look on Ryans face when he asked him if it was a hairdryer was priceless and makes me think that no, he was dead serious.
New title of the video: "How to Meet Pro Hockey Players With a Fake Press Pass" hehehe
If you use a wood stick ur automatically a badass
Hell nah the beginning 💀
Why would they film the intro when the Zamb is on lol
@yegBryTV Surfer wax is actually quite often used on the tape of hocky sticks.
Use that as a "normal hairdryer" and you'd light your fucking head on fire.
Lol
Oh my god did he actually ask is that a normal hsirdryer
Does it weaken the blade if you heat it up and curve it the way you like it? Cause i got a great deal on a Warrior stick but they only had one curve left and i hate it. I wanna curve it the way i want it. If i do is it gonna break when i use it?
They definitely recruited that reporter from the ringer
where can i get one of those knobs?
whats the point of sticky tape if your gonna wax it???
My thought exactly!
when he was taping his stick i thought it was fast-forwarding but then ryan started talking and i was like "holly crap , this guy tapes fast!" it takes me forever because my tape jobs have to be perfect
You do it several times a day everyday for years you'd probably get pretty damn fast, too.
Were do u get those was stuff ???
Just an electric personality... great for the game....
you can tell he tapes his stick every period but the sheer speed, he didnt even make 1 mistake when he taped it, there is not one thing not to love about smyth.....
@cbmaika he plays in front of the net. less stick = less surface area in a tight spot.
wood is definitely a great feel but it is heavy and I never liked bottom heavy sticks. Definitely slows down your stickhandling but feels unreal..I got used to the new one pieces but I played so much with wood sticks I still miss the feel. The new composites are like a tin feel compared to wood
i always wanted to know how he did his stick
Ryan for next coach of the oilers!
could have a field day on the commentary here haha
knob lol.
You should probably let Ryan Smyth know that. I'm sure you know so much more about hockey and could really benefit him at the pro level.
"You break your stick, and the only stick left is Ryan Smyth's what do you do ?" Jonesy: CHANGE
Hairdryer i about hit the floor there hohoaha

"Is that surf wax?" LMAO
"Lemme grab one of these goalie knobs"
then he says thats my knob right there lol
he really likes feeling the puck
Smyth would have been a lot of fun to watch on the old Oilers 80s teams. Skates hard, works hard, reckless. A much more skilled version of Buchberger.
starts at 0:48
He likes wider, thicker knobs
Dmitry Chesnokov lmao
I chuckled when he said his nob was different lolol

"I like a shorter stick...my knob is a lot different" lol
Holy sticks!!!

You don’t know what a heat gun is?
He had to be joking about the standard hair dryer
I like how once the guy said it was his dad now everybody is saying "fuck that guy" haha
!!! I do not know wood blade can be recurved just by heating!!! I thought they were formed by high temperature vapor/steam and high pressure!!!
I left my wallet in El Segundo....
welcome to edm again
Titanium sticks????? Standard hair dryer.... jesus don't send a bender like that to a rink. The look on Smyth's face when he asked about the hair dryer is priceless!

taping it toe-heel causes snow/ice build up on your stick, its common sense. before you talk about something you obviously know nothing about, think.
we all know duct tape works the best lol
2:22
Yeah it's a standard hair dryer... Yeah until you light your fucking hair on fire
Hairdryer
