Is it still tradition to not allow visitors to see the baby for 40 days? I just looked it up online. All that I know is I hope all is well with Nikola Jokic and his family. He is the reason I got interested in basketball after losing interest when Magic Johnson retired. His humility and unselfishness won me over. I also remember when Rudy Gobert missed a playoff game to be with his girlfriend when she gave birth. I have the utmost respect for him for doing that. Despite the salaries, basketball is a game. I can only imagine what it will mean to his son knowing how much he valued his birth not to mention what it must have meant to his girlfriend. I totally disagreed with Dramond Green's opinion. Imagine if there were any complications during childbirth. Is the game worth more than being there for one's family in a time of need?

@@athenasf 40 days , after 40 days we baptize shild. I dont know 4 Jok that that is our tradition , so he will not be in team so soon
@bennmacstiofan4387 i would actually support that reason. The only good thing that can come of him, not being there is that the others might actually figure something out or they fail miserably, and he's even more the goat
That is a BS comment. It's a family issue. To say he personally left to get the other players to play better. First, if that's the case, with Gordon out too. Are they conspiring together?. LMAO
Whatever happened to if ot isn't Broken don't fix it! The standards and expectations of athletes in the past seemed to work rather well! If men had a Baby they would pass out cigars and were given a congratulations and got back to work! Men seem to be increasingly open to embracing qualities that were once considered feminine! And let's face it They are Feminine
I remain in the "take as much time as you want" club. Even if it wasn't for the child birth, man deserves it for his back alone. How easily people forget the weight he carries over and over and NEVER disappoints. How many games thru injuries, he could've just decided it's time for surgery on that wrist bothering him for how long again? Think about nothing and noone Joker, your dues are already paid for upfront. And then some.
Whether Jokic plays or not is up to him, his family, the organization and what other circumstances are involved. My online rhetoric had been a bit entitled to it. He has a reason and it should be honored just like I would do with any other person. It would still be good for our team to learn to play together without them and I should keep faith in the rest of the crew. I don't mind reflecting on my own ignorance. I have a lot to think about I guess.
You can't really compare the time off to a regular job because they have time off int he off season. I don't have that. I take a week every now and then but work 12 months of the year. But of course, it has nothing to do with this particular example because if it is what I think it is, of course, he deserves the time.
@Nugschris True. I made that comparison in a general sense (for most players). However, you could argue that the Olympics isn't his job but a volunteering thing. It's like a doctor going to volunteer in a foreign country, he takes time of from his "real" job to do it. But again I have no problem with this one. It's totally justified!
Guys. If we aren’t supposed to talk about it since Jokic doesn’t want us talking about it- just stop talking about it. ‘Out for personal reasons. Will be back when he’s back. Now for more Nuggets coverage’

No, he got son, and that is big thing for us serbs. Whan i got a son , i was drunk 7 days , than family and friends , i was out of this world 30 days
Good grief give this man some much needed time free. His teammates and coaches need to step up. That Olympics stint was brutal and an early season break is good for Jokic and good for The Nuggets because they are a championship or bust team. It's all about the postseason and no one gives a crap about the cup...😊 Hopefully these non Jokic games will allow Coach Malone and Gm Booth to figure out if they have 8-10 solid postseason level rotation pieces or not. Right now i see seven(Jokic, Gordon, MPJ, CB, Murray, Russ, and Watson) I am not that high on: Saric, Strawther, Nnaji, and Jordan....as postseason level rotation pieces. Ideally a team would want a solid 8-10 postseason rotation pieces(8 is ideal but you need 2 more in case of injury or foul trouble) Can a true backup center be acquired using Zeke Nnaji's contract and a 2nd rd pick? Can Saric be waived and replaced by a better shooting guard than Strawther(Lonnie Walker)? I think Hunter Tyson and Julian Strawther can be used as those emergency rotation pieces in the event of injury or foul trouble. I think DeAndre Jordan is fine as an emergency backup center to the new backup.
I absolutely agree tht Jokic has the right to keep the details of his time off private. However, as average people, we don’t get paid if we decide to miss a few days of work without a valid reason. I don’t think it should be any different for NBA players, especially given their multi-million-dollar contracts.
What's with the salty take on the Davis game winner years ago? How much "luck" did the Nuggets have last year vs the Lakers? To be literally outplayed most of the series...how many titles did the Nuggets win in the Jokic era? Lol Besides that, I actually love listening to this podcast. You guys do great work, I don't hate the Nuggets, they're just another fun team to watch....
He has a baby coming any day now--or it has already come, or..... Let's hope that his wife and the new baby are okay. There is nothing more important in his life right now, and it should not be.
thats fine but in that case he should take a 9-5 job making 50 grand a year with pto and paternity leave, hes a basketball player, the highest paid basketball player in the entire world. hes making generational wealth..to play a game. games take around 3 hours. add an hour on each side for the other b.s. and its five hours out of his night then he can go back home to his child. tonights game is a home game. so yeah..taking a couple weeks off and a few games off is kind of okay considering. but he should play tonight.

jokic is a basketball player and has a contract that pays him millions upon millions of dollars and has an entire offseason to take off. id understand a couple games for the birth of a child but 3 or 4 games? starting to get ridiculous. 5 or 6 games should be unacceptable in this context unless his child is unhealthy or something is going on that we dont know about. you cant compare the average person taking pto to the situation jokic is in. hes my favorite player. i love him. but hes being paid GENERATIONAL wealth to play a game. to take 5 hours out of his day at max to play a game. its not like hes working 8 or more hr days 5 days a week. and if you take into account the amount of time hes already been out. its time to get back on the court. i dont think thats unreasonable for fans to expect barring health issues on the part of his child or family members. if hes back tonight though. no harm no foul. but..its time. come at me in the replies i dont care.

So many Nugget fans say that they "love" Jokic...well, if they really care for him as a human being, they should try to understand him--this is not a game; this is a life situation. Now, if they love winning only and are not at all interested in the human beings who help the Nuggets win, then that is something else. That, too, is fine.
