It's an equipment variant, it's supposed to have the same hardpoints and stuff. I think the equipment loadout could've been a little better thought out to synergize, but it was developed several major combat balancing cycles ago. Tbh I'm kinda glad CIG doesn't tend to lock away lots of special variants with different gear and hardpoints the way some games do.
This thing, the Caterpillar Pirate edition and the glaive are the only ships that you have to earn, or earn the right to buy by completing in game challenges, so I guess they could have done something special. I personally think that the special paints alone don’t justify the purchase. If you think about it in terms of lore, pirates would change the ships in a way that would complement their needs. Are they really locked away though? I suppose because nobody plays Arena Commander anymore but it’s still possible to earn them.
I find it a bit disappointing that I can't upgrade one of my 'Fury' life time warranty "tokens" to this ship and instead can only choose the 6 month warranty version from the store.
Looking at the ammo racks and the size difference the Inferno is accurate to ammo count, but the ammo count on smaller ships is just ridiculous how little they carry. Very unrealistic.
Same thing for the Pirate Cat. Wish they would add some additional armaments to both Pirate Variants. I mean, when you think about Pirate ships you´d expect so see some jury rigged weapons. Why not slapp some torpedos or bigger guns to either of the ships?
Wish it had something to make it slightly better. Maybe it goes just a bit faster. One extra shield. More and bigger weapon slots. Or just better manuverbility, witch i find just a bit lacking compared to the arrow (dont get triggered, its still good)
This is a cool looking missile. Idk if I should upgrade my Gladius to it... It is pretty rare, but I like the military look (sq42) and tbh, the laser canon are bad... I'm playing with 3*Panther, so I just have to buy one :) now with the pirate one... It's like having something different but not better at all.
You cannot upgrade to this version, only way is to buy this one with "new" cash (probably you can melt something and use store credit but I'm not sure) ;)
Okay, fair point the ships are different. However I am solely talking about the ammunition size, quantity and storage. So let's say that a size 2 weapon uses 12.7 mm ammo, a size 7 would be 70-90 mm. Now the Star Fighters are bigger than the Gladius, but they are not 5-6 times bigger right? So its inconceivable that a ship only marginally bigger can carry 5 times more ammunition of which is already 5 times bigger and heavier than the regular ammo. It may be confusing, but the developers have said that the ammo numbers are just place holders, they will be re balanced later for game play sake. I hope I made sense.

Is earning things in a game such a foreign concept now?
Helped a few GII fellows earn theirs; to my surprise they all bought it.
I think I need to make a stream where I attempt to complete "Pirate swarm". I have an Arrow and I love it. I should try to win "Pirate swarm" with it.

Im a crap pilot but hope to get one soon, lovely paint and achievement
it is a really nice skin though, and I think it is a nice way to say "Hey. I did it. I played and beat Pirate Swarm"

Pirate version should def have like a better shield or an upgraded weapon size.
I saw a post on spectrum saying the pirate gladius has double the insurance claim time compared to normal gladius :/
Can you at least apply the other Gladius skins to it or do I gotta keep the regular one if I want the snow camo sometimes?

@@Bythlak yeah, this is what I did :) The base loadout is incredibly bad between xD but the red-orange color is beautiful!
I see it pretty often, people flying it are a little overconfident, even if they are pretty good.
Overconfidence is never a good thing 😂😂
@@specterofvirgil2677 Only if you can back it up
How can you compare a ship built around a bespoke size 7 gattling gun, vs an off the shelf size 2 gattling gun?

From what I understand the Pirate version can have three size two gimbaled weapons where the standard Gladius cannot.
nope, its the same
Pretty sure it's rare because it's $20 extra just for paint.
Pirate version has higher pitch roll and yaw rates
Really? How did you find that out?
liar!
No, it has the same exact specs as the regular gladius. The gladius valiant has the worse specs.
Wait, after finishing Arena Commander you HAVE to purchase it? I thought it was a prize
Yes, you get the right to purchase it.
Damn, then it's not worth it at all.
It comes with only 6 months insurance and you can even use an Lti token to upgrade to the pirate gladius
