260 is his zone 2. What a beast
super motivating man! I'm watching you from Brazil, here we are experiencing some heat waves and I confess that it's difficult to find motivation to do a simple run
Funny how I got it too cold and you too hot to train! Nice to have you follow man 🙏
Good mic quality and perfect timing with the video juuust before my zwift race ;). Probably same watts here, but 1/3 of the duration and z4+ for sure. Keep it up!
I have the same session tomorrow (3hrs spin, 30 min run), yet my zone 2 bike is 170 watts! Matti does 260!! A whole other level!! Cool video :)
Loved the insight to training and the video, curious to where you purchased your lactate meter tester, and brand it is?
Thanks Kris, that is the lactate scout 4, has good reviews but some take others that take as little blood as possible to analyse to be more accurate and not have it diluted with sweat etc. - I don't use lactate as the nr.1 tool since it is very complicated to analyse accurately, but one of my metrics it is.
I'm in mid Finland and still have not started indoor cycling season. Got new Canyon Grizl and enjoying it outside. Need to wear slalom goggles though 😂.
@@MattiWeitz yes snow and almost too cold to keep toes warm. No aero position riding 😉. Last winter I made three hour base training with eMTB on small roads, it was fun also.
Nice video mate! Very educational. Do you use either Maurten or Precision Fuel for Hydration products or another maker? I bought some plain salt tablets from a pharmacy but am wondering about the electrolytes product from Precision. Thanks for your advice 🤙
I use 'Sponser Salt Caps' (google it its a 120caps package) for training and PH for racing on the run for sodium, carb wise I go Maurten but I reckon PH is the same at this stage. ✌🏼
Hi Matti, great video- learned a lot, thank you! Which device are you using to measure lactate?
I have the lactate scout 4, works well but some say others are better that use even less blood meaning better / more accurate concentration, but it ll do!
Hey Matt great video. What’s the spritz bottle you are using before testing lactate ?
Nice video. Thanks! Could you advise on the lactate blood test kit you have got? And if I like to obatain one, where could i get it?
I have the lactate scout 4, which is popular and works well. Dont get lost in 1%ers, expensive and very difficult to analyse well just telling you 😬✌🏼
Hey matti great insight again as always! You talked about your ideal race weight to be 82kg. Do you mind me asking what height are you for me to better understand what a good height to weight ratio is
I am 1.85 but ideal race weight is a tricky one, since it's mostly our ego choosing a number randomly and then chasing it down the scale (aka lighter is better which works for running to some extend / until injury comes) but cycling def not.
But yea I'll race 80-82kg I expect, but will see in April!
You are a good man! Cant thankyou enough for all your time answering all my questions 😅😂
@@alexbaizanos5767 Always happy to help if I can, if I can't I'll also say so 😬
I always wandered why my tri suit was covered in salt at the end of a race, now I understand that is all the sodium from my sweat
Why do you lift yourself out of the saddle like every 10 sec? Are you uncomfortable ?
What rear bottle holder is on your bike ? Great video!
That one is the just the standard one from canyon + gorilla bottle cage, but got an upgrade inc. 3D printed 🤫
Did you actually swim in that semi-frozen lake?
Yes I go 1-2x a week outside, if not outside I go cold shower/sauna combo 👍Very common for Finland, all elderly that have no joint or health issues and amazing brain clarity do this almost daily.
Hey matti what are you using for bottles carbs just sugar or something else? TY
Yes for training just plan table sugar/glucose with water and sodium tablets. For racing Maurten 👍
320 WHATT for 200K??? at 82kg? 4h? Monster!
While speeds will be high due to high watts, when you think watt per kg it's not insane though so 82kg and 320watts is 3.9w/kg. World champ lvl is 4.5w/kg which will be 370watts in future, around 3-5yrs then I am there 😬✌🏼
@@MattiWeitz that's crazy amounts of watts for so long period! I was thinking world class triathletes was holding around 280-300 at 75-80kg...so I was pretty much satisfied with my 270 haha. But im old (45) and only been cykling for 18months...so there might be more in the tank in 2-3 years if I continue...I hope...
@@JuliusPersson Magnus Ditlev has a threshold of 470watts at 80kg, doing the math on that he could ride 370watts at .079% of threshold which is common for pros and AGers to run well off, but needs very good conditioning and strength to be able to ride that high % of threshold and at those high watts energy systems is a big one like fat utilization, those watts cant come all from carb intake, wont work if you plan to run after 😬
separate respect for using tap water

Good on you for wearing small socks! Why on earth are you wearing a hat? YOu've got the fan on and sweating 2 minutes in. Unless you're intentionally trying to sweat...why wear a hat? Even headphones increase the heat in my head and they are a small band across the top of my head and ears. I've also got shorts not bibs to help reduce how much clothing is covering my body.
Also what is going on with the slightly lift you do every 10 reps or so? Assuming it's intentional?
Here is the free sodium loss questionnaire guys, let me know who has more than 1500mg 😂 the winner wins a loss in bank account credit for the future since he/she has to buy tons of salt caps 😅
