Love you for covering some of the great Wii-era Nintendo music :) Yokota also did some stellar work on Skyward Sword as well! A very deliberate style of orchestrating with the smaller orchestra (compared to modern film music) they had.
Zach! At 4:44 the melody ...I think you're hearing two. Both from Super Mario 64. 1. Koopa's Message is the main melody (commonly called the Bowser laugh) 2. Koopa Road, which contains that melody. Maybe you figure this out later in the video, but I just started watching. Great video!
I loved the super Mario Galaxy series as a kid because of how big it’s world felt. Even as a little munchkin, I was aware that the music itself being orchestral added to that feeling of being in a big wide universe. On a side note, I’m VERY happy Nintendo at least added the gusty garden theme in he credits of the Mario movie.
Awesome video! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I would just LOVE to see you react and elaborate on more tracks from the SMG2 - which I also think I like more than SMG’s, hehe. Particularly the CREDITS / STAFF ROLL theme. I feel like that one is so masterfully composed and arranged… I’m not a musician, admittedly, but that track just… takes me on a RIDE, every single time!
Somehow I truly forgot how amazing this soundtrack was. It was such an achievement and your video here was not only super interesting for a non-music-theoried person like myself, but it just brought me a lot of joy on a Monday morning. I'm looking forward the Tears of the Kingdom on Friday and your eventual video on it!
Your voice was a bit quiet compared to the music, but otherwise it was very fun to watch! I think the analysis type of videos (like TotK trailer) really show how you know your way through the themes and general build of the pieces and especially how to explain them to those who are not as versed with it.
I always thought the theme of Gobblegut from this game sounded like the climax of an old black and white film. Idk just like the instrumentation of the like brass and strings
2 is WAY WAY better in general lol, but yes absolutely in terms of OST as well! (Galaxy 2 also follows classic style mario stage select made popular by the best titles in the series; Super Mario Bros 3, Super Mario World, Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island). Super Mario Galaxy 2 is in fact the best mainline Mario game ever made since the Nintendo classic imo.
Your opinion of SMG over SMG2 is definitely a hot take, but a hot take I agree with. It just feels more grand with more instruments compared to the first game. Sure SMG brought us some bangers like Good Egg, Gusty Garden, Buoy Base, etc, but SMG2 (I feel) brought even more (better?) bangers. Not to mention the second game perfected the melody of Gusty Garden TWICE in the form of the one part in the credits and the World S theme. My favorite theme is definitely Galaxy Generator
Odd request here, idk if you only do video game soundtrack videos or of you do ones for shows movies like animated ones. Review the Bluey soundtrack? (I know, very weird pick).
it would be awesome if you listen to the tom and jerry soundtrack! or a live orchestra medley version because i know that exists on youtube somewhere :D
Yeah they're on TH-cam uploaded by other fans because Nintendo is a dumb a little crybaby who doesn't listen they don't upload their songs on Spotify or other popular official legal ways to show music and they have copyright struck down so many TH-cam videos and channels that only uploaded music just so they can show their love and let fans listen to Nintendo's actually amazing music Nintendo could profit so much because their music is so GOOD but they are so CORRUPT and STRICT that they do the opposite.. it's depressing.
0:00 Galaxy Generator Galaxy
3:40 My Galaxy-inspired piece
4:16 The Almighty King Bowser
9:36 Final Bowser Battle
If you've been listening to mario galaxy's music chances are you've probably seen me in the comments of those osts
I wouldn't exactly consider it "forgotten", since the whole OST is basically known to be loved worldwide. Yeah though, amazing OST
I will always instantly click on a Mario Galaxy analysis video
Absolutely in love! I love your passion for chord colors and your perfect descriptions. Really loving your channel Zach!
Thanks Gabrel!

Great video!
Yes! I as soon as he played it on piano I thought "omg that's the song from Super Mario 64 during the Bowser in the Dark World course!"
Oh god that woodwind run at 12:30 gives me marching band flashbacks, and it's great
This video is so cool on how it touches on musical themes and ways how to make it work!
Really enjoy these game music analysis videos. Knocked it out of the park again!
Great video! I always get excited when you upload lol 🌟

Oh, and your inspired original work was fantastic. I could listen to that just as easily as any of the SMG2 tracks.
I so love how excited you get lol you are so infectious x I was down in the dumps until I watched this and now I'm going to sleep Happy 😊 thanks Zach
Now I’m itching to make some music. Great video as always.
1:19 counterpoint: Gusty Garden Galaxy

Galaxy 2 is easily better than the first game in my eyes

I'd love to get a breakdown of the tracks you made during this video like you've done with your other "How to Compose Like" videos!
That's really motivating to create music!
Cool! The intro sounds to me like a tango :)

Great music and video! 🎉
Mario music is frfr my favorite like the composers for Nintendo in general are always my go to when trying to find studying music
Mario Galaxy music goes so fucking hard

Id love to watch you break down Irelia's log in music from league of legends that's a great piece too
will always watch analysis of mario galaxy music. so much nostalgia with it.
2 is way better then 1 in ANY regard!! Thanks for giving Galaxy 2 more love then Nintendo (Still mad its not in the 3D Allstars Collection)
Mario Galaxy's soundtrack is unbeatable (Not even Odyssey was close)
Odd request here, idk if you only do video game soundtrack videos or of you do ones for shows movies like animated ones.

plannets? haha that's appropriate!
Are the tracks to this album on TH-cam? I can’t find it in Apple Music.
