No Danny Briere? I would have thought you would have loved him. Based on what you describe as your fav players I thought Danny encapsulated those qualities

Small, fast. great shot, great hockey IQ and one of the best clutch players in the sport. Briere in the playoffs was always amazing to watch.

He was so clutch in the playoffs, too. Took his game to another level, ala a Claude Lemiuex type.

Ron Hextall is my all time favorite Flyer and the reason I grew to love hockey as a kid. Without him I don’t know if I become such a fan. Crazy? Maybe, but his passion for the game was contagious.

I'm a lifelong Flyers fan. My top 10 favorite players that I got to see play:
    1. John LeClair
    2. Eric Lindros
    3. Chris Pronger (short lived, but he was the man)
    4. Eric Desjardins
    5. Kimmo Timmonen
    6. Claude Giroux
    7. Simon Gagne
    8. Mark Recchi
    9. Rod Brind'Amour (no offense to Primeau, but I still can't believe they traded him)
    10. Sean Couturier
Honorable mentions: Danny Briere, Rick Tocchet, Brian Propp, Ivan Provorov, Tim Kerr, Scott Hartnell, and Mark Howe

nice to see Murray Craven get some recognition. thought he was really underrated. Same with Pelle Eklund, who woulda made this list. Also Dave Brown, if only for the pre-game brawl in Montreal

  • @patch8376
    @patch8376 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Favorite active player would be Couturier. Konecny's an honorable mention.
I would have added Sanheim to the list but I can't unsee a blatant double crosscheck to the back of a downed DeBrincat's head in Europe during preseason (and DeBrincat wasn't even running the goalie at all. It was unnecessary and uncalled for, and also didn't get called). I can't prove anything, but I've wondered if it had something to do with DeBrincat's slow start and subpar season. The second of those two hits to the back of the head in particular looked like it could have done damage whether it was immediately realized or not.

When I was a kid I wondered why the Pens would trade away Recchi to bring in Tocchet, even though I loved both. It was just one of those high-scoring-winger-for-another-high-scoring-winger deals that didn't make sense at the time. As it played out I realized, Oh, right: Lemieux between Tocchet and Stevens, and Tocchet was the smallest but toughest of the three. Kinda need tranquilizers and bear traps to stop that trio.

Rick Tocchet was my favorite hockey player as a kid. My dad turned our basement into a gambling office (he had a problem back then lol) and on the wall was a poster of Tocchet, I asked who's that (I was 5 at the time) my dad jumped out of his chair and was like "you don't know Rick Tocchet?, we are going to fix that right now". He sat me down and we watched flyers hockey fights VHS tapes from his collection for days after that, that was back in 1990, and he's been my favorite ever since

Being a lifelong Flyers fan it would be impossible for me to pick 15 but I can't argue with your choices, however, since I go all the way back to the early 70's I would have names like Rick MacLeish, Reggie Leach, Ross Lonsberry, Bernie Parent, and the like on my list. As for Kerr, the guy was beset by some bad luck too both professionally and privately. First, one of his injuries came from stepping on a puck. I'm convinced the Flyers win the Cup in '85 or '87 or both if he was healthy for the Finals. As for his private life, he losing his wife days after she gave birth to their daughter was heart breaking. He still lives in the area living in Moorestown(Camden county) as well as Avalon where he has a real estate business.

You should not be picking these lists with your biases or at least disregard them for someone who is as good as Bobby Clarke and Eric Lindros. I am not old enough to remember Bobby Clarke playing but I have watched him in the Summit series and when they Flyers beat the crap out of the Soviets and plus just his famous missing teeth. Not to mention Clarke is the only Flyer Captain to lead Philly to Lord Stanley's Cup and he did it back to back. Clarke is the #1 all-time Flyer let alone not in the top 10. Also, as a child in 90s and really someone who fell in love with hockey in the 90s (also played my entire life), I cannot imagine having a top 15 Flyers list and not having the "Legion of Doom" as a whole on it: John LeClair, Eric Lindros, Michael Renberg. But even just based on pure objective stats Eric Lindros deserves to be on a top 15 Flyers list.

John LeClair wasn't respected in Montreal because he was American. he was scoring huge goals for Montreal and that franchise didn't care because he was an outsider

The dog's name was Sprocket. And if your a fellow Flyers fan. And Tim Kerr & Ron Hextall are not in your top 10. You should stop eating paint chips.

I was surprised that Eric was so high on the list. Recchi was a great dumpster diver. Did great for us in the playoffs(bruins 2011).

Tocchet and Brind'Amour are the best Flyers players in a way, because they were tough, quietly excellent, and they played forever. Bill Barber more than Bobby Clarke.
