I’m so gutted that she peaked both musically and as an actor so early in her life, then she put a lid on it. She accomplished so much in her teens, songwriter, producer, actor, multi award winner, MOTHER! all before 23. I’m being selfish but I really wanted to see her continue to flourish in all areas because she clearly had the talent to do it all. It saddens me.

I remember as a 12 year old little girl,a year later after it came out on video, I remember way back that I used to adore and be obsessed with her Lauryn Hill, I always called her Rita but I now I call her by her real name Lauryn Hill. This movie had rung my bell that I was getting close to Highschool, and made me wanted to go to a Catholic High school,so Id started off in a All girl Catholic High School and on my freshman year .it was lots of fun.Back then .but I graduated from a Public Highschool and that's ok.

i understand her mother still had some grief due to what happened to her dad when he was tranna sing and become a musician but to discourage her daughter and make her feel bad for it was not right. That wasn’t right, I didn’t like her momma when I first saw this. Like come on let the girl try dang!! But I have to admit…when I seen her mamma in that crowed I was like awww crap! she in trouble 😟 but then again I’m like girl you already up there so you might as well just keep on singing 🎤 yep sing on this last leg. 😂😂😅😅😅👀👀👀

Yeah, I can't stand control freak parents who try to deny their kids the right to have a dream, even for the right reasons, when they have a right to make their own choices in life and not be guilt tripped into staying where they don't want to. Worse is the daughter just doesn't stand up to her enough to tell her off about being too controlling.

All I can think of is what the music scene would have looked like for the past 20 years had we not been deprived of her talent. Music is basically garbage right now and had she continued on, her voice would easily destroy any other artist, male or female, in music today. She had that effortless quality to her voice that Whitney Houston had. I'm not saying she's Whitney, but her ability to make it look easy would be basically unmatched today. No ex-Disney channel star or former country singer could eve come close. I understand she had a rough go if it starting when she was in the Fugees. Guys using and manipulating her, then she had a kid. I'm never going to disparage motherhood, but the world deserved more of her talent. She could do it all, sing, rap, perform. A total prodigy.
