Who is After School?
After School is a 9-member female group from South Korea managed by Pledis Entertainment.
Debuting initially as a 5-member group with their debut single AH in January 2009, they were labeled as the Korean Pussycat Dolls for the matured and sexy concept they had taken on. In April 2009, After School released a digital single titled DIVA and introduced a new member, Uee, into the group, as part of After Schools admission and graduation concept. Later in November 2009, member Yoo So Young announced her withdrawal from the group citing health and studies reasons. At the end of the same month, After School admitted two new members, Raina and Nana, into the group making After School a 7-member group. Later that year, Lizzy was added, and not long after (December 2010) E-young was named the 9th member of the group, debuting only on April 2011.

@PhionSoAdorable90 This is back at the beginning of 2009, when After School consisted only of five members. Uee joined later that year (in April) when After School was promoting Diva. Nana and Raina were added when Because of you was released (and Soyoung left at that time too, for health reasons). And now, Lizzy has been added for Bang!

I really miss these days, when there were just the original 5 members and they did these kicks ass/sexy hip hop style songs :( There first single will always be my favourite AS stuff.

@AJokhun Officialy, it was because of health reasons. But I remember that at the time of her withdrawl, rumors were going around she left because Pledis didn't promote her as an actress at all, while UEE got lots of gigs (Soyoung joined Pledis as an actress) :P

It's good that After School is eating. Unlike the other K-Pop entertainment industries that require dieting...we all need to eat to live! But as long as we eat healthy, it's all good. ;)

@AhLiYza well... SM Entertainment has a very strict diet on their entertainers.. and they are only allowed to eat whatever when camera's are rolling... I think After School would be on the strict diet too... if they wanted to keep their figures, but yeah... SM only lets SNSD eat whatever on camera.. so thats why they go crazy for meat.

I think it's because American entertainers can earn hundreds of thousands of dollars for just selling one album.
Korean entertainers can also get that much, or even more, by doing albums, CFs, performances, etc. However, a certain percent of the revenue goes to the company (backup dancers, staff, etc), a certain percent go to the production costs (lights, stage reservation, fireworks, costumes, etc). That's not to say they're poor or anything, it's just that they aren't millionaires.
Everyone always says that Jooyeon is so beautiful, but I've always thought of her as a cutie.. I dunno, maybe it's a cultural thing.

From what I've seen, Asian entertainers are alot more modest and humble compared to American entertainers. . . .you dont see Asian music artists showing off their cars, homes, valuables, etc. They seem to be more down to earth and more easy going/laid back, ya know? Compared to American artists of many whom DEMAND respect and attention and whatnot. . .
it's good that they don't believe in dieting.
