Marty you did get good at slide, I think it was a video several years ago you made with Criss playing some Allman Brothers and you were playing great. 👍😎✌️
Hey Marty I've been looking for a good lesson on Brighton Rock by Queen it's one of my favorit solos ever I just wanted to see if you'll take requests for a video
I love the sound I get from glass, BUT I'm so clumsy and got tired of dropping and breaking them, moved on to brass. That sick feeling just as you see your glass falling to the floor, like ah crap.
It’s only good if you want to slide one or max two strings at a time. Great for standard slide. But you really want a long slide to cover all strings in open tuning to make the most of the playing style.
Slide players almost always use an open tuning. Otherwise, playing a chord is very hard. Open D or Open E are common. Open G too, but maybe not quite as much.
Ima respond to both of you. You can absolutely play slide in standard tuning and emulate some open G playing because the D, G, and B strings stay the same. A lot of great slide players play in standard often! Standard tuning slide playing is more accustom to single note playing while open tunings one can play all 6 strings at once and make a chord ring out.

Great vid! Just curious, what guitar is Mike playing?
The metal slide definitely brings that delta blues tone.
Literally yesterday I was wondering about what kind of slide I should get…. Marty to the rescue!!!
Thanks for the comparison. Love the metal- especially the swampy sounding comparison.👍👍🎸
Wow, he made them all sound great. Talented dudes right there.
Great info. Great playing. Thanks for doing it. And yes I love D'addario too.
My favorite, Duane Allman. His legacy lives on.I remember the first time I heard him, over 50 years ago."And the road, goes on forever. "
Hey Marty, great video on the different slides. Appreciated!!
Can you do a tutorial for corduroy by pearl jam
Is there a benefit to lighter vs heavier slides for beginners? Does one make playing slide easier? Thank you Marty!

Thank you for existing like always marty
Can you do corduroy by Pearl Jam?
MARTY, make a lesson about playing BEHIND the slide. Try to find a bunch of fretting behind the slide licks by Ariel Posen to make a lesson about them
Marty! Request: Charley Crockett - Spade
Great interview, thanks guys!
I would like to know what body and neck Mike was using on his guitar.
Glass, Brass, or gas - nobody slides for free

Saw Justin Johnson use a ring slide, looked pretty cool. Wondered if anyone had ever used one.

Standard tuning I mean*
What tuning?
Marty, Quick question. Was the guitar using the slide tuned the same as yours?
Slide players almost always use an open tuning. Otherwise, playing a chord is very hard. Open D or Open E are common. Open G too, but maybe not quite as much.
@@VeloVagabond Thanks for the information, I think I'll give it a try!

Hi
News flash: Brass is a type of metal. (Copper + Zinc)
Dude, you should do a Collab w/ Nick lutsko 😂 that would be awesome 😎 💭💭💭💭💭💭🦅🗽🌎 do it for super earth!!!!!🌍
Maybe a weird thing.. but how would a marty x Justin Johnson colab be? That guy has a lot of weird guitars.. even a ironing table guitar
Sweet child O mine lesson?
I've never bought a slide in my life. I always use a Bic lighter.
Your a genius you got that bic tone😂😂
Wait how does that work?
A Zippo works better in my experience.
I've also played with a beer bottle and a pint glass in the past.
Tell ya how to pick the right slide, buy a ceramic one
