I worked along with a few of my female nurse friends during Covid and we made hundreds of thousands of dollars. Few years after Covid, all my female friends told me they had spent all the money we made. And they said it was on clothes, bags and shoes. Me on the other hand bought two houses cash. Consumerism is a killer especially in the black community. I wish more girls can watch this video and take your advice seriously.

You hit the nail on the head, people need to figure out what their dream life looks like. Truly. A lot of people are looking for respectability and thinking it comes with a designer bag, well...I got the bag but that didn't earn me anything. A lot of people are trying to LOOK rich, and not LIVE or BE rich. Its sad. The day I managed to save 5 figures CASH was the day nobody could tell me ISH, didn't matter what brand I wore, or how "rich" I looked, I had a very "F U" energy because I knew I had some backing. It hits different when you have CASH behind you, you move different. You stop caring about what others think or what "aesthetic" you fit into. I feel empowered when I budget. Its another goal.

I used to work in a high end retail store and every time new inventory would come in I would be like “wow that’s so cute I want it!” And of course it would be a $400 dress. For a full month, I would pass by it every day and each day I wanted it less and less.. I learned that I was just craving a dopamine rush from purchasing a product and not the actual product itself. Working in retail made me realize how worthless it all is. It’s just material. Window shopping is much more fun now than actually buying the product and going broke(:

The problem is people who aren't financially wise or don't have money are just buying things to feel better emotionally.

This is a GREAT video! the point about questioning purchasing habits was a good think piece. I'll say for me I want the item for free and the cash in hand so therefore, I won't be buying it 🤣

I don’t think a lot of these girls even pay for some of the stuff they get. It’s a trend because the world likes to see it and it makes for good TH-cam content. Hence Allyiahsface. But these girls are not really spending that money once they start making more money. 95% of what they get is free. I say keep doing you IT GIRLS! ❤❤❤

The consumerism and it girl trend will have you broke cause you are constantly trying to keep up with the Joneses. I had to learn first hand. I had to limit my social media cause it is easy to get influenced to run and go get all these must have products.

This is good, sis! I never been big on name brand clothing, but I’ll purchase fast fashion fit QUICK, lol! I can barely fit any of my clothes due to the quality, which is resulting in purging. I’m researching higher quality clothes, that can last, and ultimately be my basic capsule. This will help with overconsumption and overspending.

I’m what ppl consider a IG corporate baddie. I deactivated all social media. Only using TH-cam app now with an anonymous profile and I honestly feel free. I haven’t bought a Stanley or any crap…I don’t own any makeup and live a minimalist lifestyle in my nice apt in south Florida with my fiance…I’ll reactive if to post wedding pics but other than that I’m not falling for any more cults…already fell for that mlm cult bs when I was in a vulnerable place back in 2020

For me, it’s as simple as I don’t want a load of ish in my house and in my room that I don’t use. Seeing clutter and seeing stuff everywhere irritates me more than the joy I get from buying a new thing. I also like my money to stay in my bank account

YES! I'm a big saver and believer in treating money like it's not mine 🤣 it feels like I am stealing if I over spend or touch money in my savings account
I am always asking myself am I actually going to use this.. and getting rid of things I don't touch or wear regularly.
I am also a big fan of thrifting to save money. Stores like Plato's Closet, they have gotten kinda pricy but if you catch them on a good day like at the end of a season or during a clearance sale you can find some nice pieces. I have found brand new dresses, coats etc for $10 sometimes with the original tag being $20+

I used to think I couldn’t be that girl because I am not spending my whole paycheck to look like everyone else. Then I realized that I am That Girl. I am an original It Girl because what I do makes me feel good. The products I use make me feel good. And I am a budget baddie and I love seeing my money work for me.
