Reminds me of my favorite KOM. 1.5 miles with 950 feet elevation loss, an average grade of -12.5%. Average speed of 53 mph with a max speed of 70.3 mph. What a ride!

Good lord! My hill is 1.7 miles 600 feet 7% avg, tacking on almost 300 feet of elevation gain/loss on top of that is insanity and to think that is almost straight up with no switchbacks with that high of an average speed. I'm sure there is more to the story that you are leaving off because either the views must be worth dying for or there is a way easier approach to the top of that thing.
@@Xhadp That descent I have the KOM on is pretty nuts- just one gentle curve, otherwise straight down with no turns at all, and a few sections over 20% grade in the middle of the descent. The climb up the backside is a bit easier, about 3 miles at 6-7% grade but still has some sections over 18%. There are absolutely no views at all, just trees on all sides, the only reason to go up there is to ride back down it!

I’ve been riding road bikes for about 22 years, not racing, but have smashed a watt or two - I’ve never seen a chain do that and can’t imagine it happening at those speeds…. You Aussies have absolutely taken over my TH-cam feed. 😂👊🏼

KOM is going UP the mountain. What you did was attempting the opposite.
KOM on Strava is basically the no.1 ranked time for any segment (climb or descent, doesn’t matter)
