There are videos of Luffy's VA, Mayumi Tanaka, getting very emotional and teary-eyed when speaking about recording the Gear 5 episodes. She and the whole cast are treasures, and I just hope everyone makes it to the end of story. Fortunately, the whole Straw Hat crew still seems to be going strong, though honestly I have noticed that Franky's VA has maybe lost a few ticks off his fastball compared to the heyday of Bon Clay and Water 7 Franky.
Ye Franky is not as much "OW!" as before. Also Jinbei's actor is 80+ .

I think that's the reason why Toei had to be caught up a little bit with the manga. Wano has only 4 to 5 chapters left before the next arc
The next arc had 43 or 45 chapters to be adapt in the anime. The VA are gonna get old if Toei just keep getting behind the manga. I mean, they had to slow the pacing, of course the pacing is always slow but they have to adapt 1 full chapter adaptation every episode

Informative Fact: the name origin of Luffy's Gear 5th Finisher, Bajrang Gun, comes from "Bajrang" being an alternate name of the Hindu Monkey God, Hanuman, a potential inspiration for Sun Wukong; meaning to translate the punch-attack's full name as Gomu Gomu no Monkey God Gun
Since I wont believe even for a second that Luffy has any knowledge about that I like to believe that back when he was thinking about what to name his attacks now the gomu gomu was like "Dont worry I got this" and just whispered them straight into his mind

my fav part about luffys trust in them is that he didnt have that before in thriller bark and in sabaody. they saw what luffy was doing to protect them and they stepped up and he recognized it

What I really liked was the symbolism of God Nika being prayed to and it almost seeming like Luffy was getting a power up from everyone's hopes and dreams of wishing to be free.

After timeskip, the fights has been getting serious and i really miss the days Luffy in pre timeskip where he is just having fun

Gear 5 definity changes everything. It's his peak and i don't know if we are gonna have another Luffy power up. At this point, Gear 5 is gonna be best power up and his last. Gear 5 is PEAK!!
He'll still get powerups, but in the form of mastering his Haki instead of new gears

I'm not sure if it's gonna be a power up but he's definitely gonna show NEW different varieties of techniques and forms while still in Gear 5th. The Giant form was one of em.
I mean Gear 4th have 3 variations. Boundman, Tankman, and Snakeman. I'm guessing Gear 5 too.

Actually read an interview with Oda who said the reason he made Gear 5 so silly is because he wanted to remind people that One Piece at its heart is a silly manga. Apparently he also felt it may have been getting to serious.
Kaido is the GOAT. How can you hate him. Yeah, he's a villain. But he's such a well written character. Episodes like 1026 and 1033 give him so much depth. Also yeah, this episode was FIRE! And I repeat, Luffy did not beat Kaido alone. Akazaya Nine, Yamato, Worst Generation, he fought all of them without rest. While Luffy ate and rested completely after he was beaten by Kaido in 1033. If it's one on one, bet on Kaido is still valid.

I can hate him because he's boring he's just an obstacle for Luffy and the gang to overcome. They went in depth with Doflamingo and even big mom but Kaido? Barely anything if being strong makes a villian good than yeah he's one of the best other than that pretty boring

Gear 5 gives me nostalgia for pre-timeskip
I love that Orochi is a scumbag that dies in the fire, Kaido is the fire/lava, Oden survives being boiled alive on fire for long enough to save his retainers. Retainers following Oden's will bring Luffy and Luffy's will allows him to survive all of the Kaido's fire and more. And Luffy is also carrying Ace's fire will.
Comparing Doffy and Orochi is so interesting, because Doflamingo is my all-time favorite villain in fiction, and Orochi is my most hated character in fiction. Both written amazingly well. I’d say there’s 4 major characteristics that differentiate them that causes fans to love Doffy and hate Orochi.
1. Doflamingo does the work himself. He doesn’t use other people to get their hands dirty when he needs to step in - because he is the strongest in his country and his crew. He does have people do things for him, but so does Luffy or Shanks. In the end, Doffy left for Punk Hazard right away when he thought Law and the Straw Hats were still there. It makes Doflamingo feel like a menacing force himself, where Orochi feels sniveling by comparison because despite having a mythical zoan, he’s extremely weak. This makes him into more of a Spandam kind of character.
2. Doflamingo is extremely cruel, but not excessively. And by that, I mean that Doffy is as cruel as he needs to be to accomplish his goals and not further. While people were suffering as the toys of Dressrosa, he did not want the country as a whole to be suffering and miserable. The people (the human population, anyway) actually loved him and begged him not to step down as king. Granted, they didn’t know about the truth behind the toys, but the people weren’t miserable like the people of Wano. Doffy created just enough suffering to accomplish his goals and nothing further, while Orochi’s only aim was to create the most suffering possible. There was a point to turning people into toys; there was no point in feeding the starving people SMILE fruits except to be cruel because the sound of their suffering (that he caused) was annoying to him.
3. Doflamingo loved his crew, at least the core crew. He really did treat them like family and grew furious when people messed with them. We see this when he rescues Baby Five and Buffalo on Punk Hazard or when someone made fun of Pica’s voice. He at least treated his core crew the way we would expect a good captain to treat their core crew. Orochi cares for no one but himself. He would gladly sacrifice everyone else for a little more power or satisfaction. It would be one thing if he was using his power to elevate the Kurozumi clan and protect the people of his clan that remain, but they suffer in the same conditions as everyone else, as evidenced by the fact that Otama is a Kurozumi, and Luffy helped her just the same as everyone else because she was suffering in the conditions as badly as anyone. Her parents died in the factories that Orochi made, so he didn’t even care about the suffering of his clan like he claims. He really just cares about himself.
4. Oda wrote Doflamingo such that his tragic backstory lets us see why he is the way he is, and even though we don’t agree with it, we understand it and accept it. Oda wrote Orochi such that even though he has a reason for why he acts the way he does, it’s not enough for us to bridge the gap to accepting it. And because of that, we feel like Doffy’s evil is understandable while Orochi’s is not.
Wapol + Doflamingo = Orochi
Orochi's goal was to make the people of Wano and the country itself suffer. I don't think Orochi is crueler than Doffy. It's just that his goals are more cruel. Everything that Orochi did, I could see Doffy doing as well, if it aligned with his goals. Orochi and Doffy's childhoods are very similar in that both had terrible childhoods and both believe that they deserve better. While Doffy was in a high position for a while, Orochi has always been seen as inferior since his birth. This is what makes me believe that his disproportionate desire for revenge. At the end of the day, both are equally horrible human beings, but one has other traits that we associate with being bad and negative, such as cowardice, weakness and low will. Maybe Oda should delve more into Orochi's backstory because he also went through hell as a child. People often forget, but he probably suffered just as much, if not more, than Doffy.
For me is like this.
Doflamingo: Extremely evil, but you can respect him as a character with potentially good traits. His background explains where his goals come from, and he is motivated by a desire to be at the top.
Orochi: Extremely evil and impossible to respect as a character, lacking any good traits. His background explains where his goals come from, and he is motivated by pure hate.
@@LucasSilva-nu1md but that’s kinda my point though. Doffy would make people suffer if it was required to reach his goals. Orochi’s goals ARE people’s suffering. As many as possible. Doffy is cruel in the fact that he doesn’t care about suffering, but his desire is not to inflict suffering; that is merely a means to an end. Orochi’s entire goal is suffering.
@@tbhgodrick6120Doffy is also a sadist. He enjoys controlling people to make them kill their friends or family, even when it's not necessary. He does it just because he finds it amusing. I find both equally cruel because they're capable of doing the same things, but Orochi has done more damage. Both have selfish goals anyway, so for me, it doesn't make a difference because their goals are equally cheap and evil. But I understand where you're coming from, we just have different ways of measuring and understand cruelty.
Pretty sure Doflamingo wants the whole world to suffer. He just doesn't do that in Dressrosa because he still needs the place functioning.

About the bending reality...in manga they say something but in anime not...gorosei say that "NIKA is only limited by his own imagination" no boundry's sky is the limit.....
This has caused a lot of people to misunderstand that he can actually bend reality even tho it should be obvious he can't. His power is still limited to rubber properties but that power is only limited to the imagination of the user like Luffy turning lightning into rubber. Too many people misunderstand that he can just summon a black hole or something if he wants but doesn't do it because he doesn't know his powers are imagination (it's not).

@@Gopal__S if we go by definition in manga it is never stated that his power is rubber by the gorosei, they only said that Nikas body had the qualities of rubber which is a very specific wording, very very specific wording, and they also stated that the power is only limited by the imagination of the user, kaido himself in anime and manga said that what luffy was doing was not possible for rubber, and luffy has ignited fire underwater, summoned goggles from his eyebrows, bounced from lighting at the same speed and has also summonded sunglasses, as well as what happened with light in the last chapter all of those are things that rubber cannot do, specially the last one since even if you speculate light was turned into rubber then how it works afterwards wouldnt make sense, and there is still regular thor and hwak moves preawakening to explain, I am not saying he can do whatever but he definately is not binded for all to be rubber, by the original japanese text and subtext i believe everything is related to rubber because luffy knows rubber related techniques, he might have awaken but he is still in the hey I am made of rubber deal after all. Another important note is his speed that has been changing in the last art since he is able to keep up with the fight he is in with ease, My point being we still dont know full capabilities of it and speculating he HAS or LACKs any ability at this point is foolish and headcannon.

It doesn't work exactly like rubber because it's not rubber just the properties of rubber. The goggles are formed by molding his hair that has properties of rubber. He bounced from lightning because he made the lightning have properties of rubber. His fire thing was even way before the awakening and is explained in the same way how tons of people in the story randomly have fire powers. Unless you want to argue every one of those people have the powers of imagination it's pointless to bring up red hawk. Idk what about the latest chapters are confusing you. You'll have to be specific about the example because nothing about it leads to what you're saying, so I'd need the specific example you're talking about to refute it. And the speed and strength are already explained when the goresei said it gives the user more strength. Nothing about imagination. I'm way controversial about Gear 5.
Humor is one thing, but have you seen Luffy clowning around back in Water 7 when he was fighting Rob Lucci?
We had dramatic story line, and Oda perfectly knew when Luffy was supposed to be humorous, and when he was supposed to be serious, like he was when he fought Rob, cause he knew that if he lost that fight, all his friends would be either killed or imprisoned and Robin would be facing the living hell in hands of a World Government.
Here the situation is pretty much the same. Zoro is almost dead, all the crew is exhausted as heck, people are literary being burnt alive inside Onigashima, Wano has been suffering for like 20 years already and its people have been bled dry by Orochi and Kaido, Tama has been poisoning herself with river water for who knows how long cause she's nothing to eat.
And whereas we're all invested into how tragic and serious the situation is, in the midst of it we're getting goofy clowning Luffy who looks like he's lost any sanity from HAHAHAHAHing too much. And the fact, that he's using a flipping EMPEROR OF THE SEA a.k.a. "THE STRONGEST CREATURE ALIVE" as a jump rope makes it even dumber and goofier for me.
I'll like One Piece, but the pattern "Be funny where it's supposed to be funny and serious, when it's supposed to be serious" works much better for me, and Gear 5 kinda contradicts this pattern
I was legit tearing up watching this fight. Its been awhile since ive seen a masterpiece in motion. The angles and the animation in general is flawless. Just wow
