    Dear Harrison don't take any notice of those extremely rude airheads. Your review was excellent, I am definitely going to buy the lens.

    Enjoyed the Review, Harrison. Just picked up one of these lenses and am excited to try it out! BTW, ignore all the ppl throwing shade on your presentation delivery. Those who can't do it themselves often criticize others. I liked your style!

    I am wondering if we can pixel shift while we are using focus stacking mood, means; can I get a 80 mp final stacked photo from the camera and having the both options functioning in the same time? thank you

    Are you shooting manual or autofocus? The 60mm seems pretty jumpy on the Gh5.

    I just got this lense and all my photos are just a mess, not focused lol. I'm just starting out and I'm not sure what kind of settings to use for example photographing plants.

    Good evening, Harrison. Thank you for your video. I have this lens and just love it. It's amazingly versatile and while it's promoted as a macro lens, it also is excellent as a walk round lens. It's so fast. I also took a wee look at your instagram macros and they're beautiful.

      thanks Jann, glad you like the lens - I agree that is very versatile, and glad you like my instagram!

    Hey mate, I just bought this lens to use on my Panasonic G9. Awesome lens so far, only had it a week or so. I'm not too fussed about the lens hood as it would likely get in the way or block out too much light when shooting super close.
    You've covered all the aspects very well.
    With the criticism, learn from their message but disregard their negative crap.
    There's constructive criticism and negative criticism. Learn from constructive and disregard the negative. Keep up the good work.
    I'm an Aussie as well and am going to check out your other vids right now.
    I've just subbed. 👍

    Thank you for your informative and useful review but I will add this comment: There’s no lens hood included because users of macro lenses don’t normally use them.
    They often get in the way when close focussing, and most importantly they cast shadows when using ring flashes or other typical macro flashes.
    At macro focussing distances, d.o.f. is very shallow. So it’s often necessary to maximise d.o.f. By using a small aperture. But that cuts down the light and requires slow shutter speeds. Fine on a flower in a windless studio, not good on a moving ant in the wild. So macro photography requires a lot of additional light, often provided by a ring flash attached to the lens filter thread or using two flashguns mounted at about 45° apart either side of the lens.
    Most photographers will already have a kit zoom lens which will encompass the 60mm focal length and which will have its own dedicated lens hood. So yes, you *can* use this as a portrait lens. Or you could just use the 40-150 PRO f/2.8 which many Olympus users choose as their kit lens and which a lot of Panasonic users buy as the Panasonic equivalent is slower, has more CA, vignetting and distortion, but doesn’t cost far less than the Olly lens.

    • @HarrisonBroadbent
      @HarrisonBroadbent  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      fair enough and thanks for your informative comment. I just think it's a bit cheap that they don't include one in a $400 lens, regardless of whether it's a macro or tele or whatever considering they cost about $.10 to make. but fair enough that for a macro lens it might not be the best use case for one

    • @robobertelliclark988
      @robobertelliclark988 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Harrison Broadbent: The Olympus version is a bit more complex in that it slides back over the lens barrel. For just £10 you can buy a conventional screw-on equivalent on eBay.
      So supplying it as standard when most macro users would never use them increases the total
      manufacturing costs, the amount of packaging, the size of the box and all of those multiply the costs of supplying and stocking the product. Yes: a few cents extra in manufacturing costs, likely a dollar or two in total retail costs, but not including it saves Olympus money and adds to their profits for anyone who chooses to overpay for the official Olly hood over the cheap generic ones. As it’s a sliding hood which can go wrong, not including it also reduces their exposure to warranty claims.
      It’s now also a valid argument that adding a piece of plastic which most will never use just adds another tiny bit to the amount of plastic waste which is polluting this planet.

    I also don't have DSLR camera 😂. But I do enjoy whatching your reviews, bro. What is your opinion about Canon Rebel SL2 (EOS 200D) - as an beginners DSLR camera? I do appreciate your frank opinion.

    • @HarrisonBroadbent
      @HarrisonBroadbent  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the sl2 is a fine first camera but if you wanna spend a little more then the T7i / 800d would probably last you a lot longer as it's got some newer features - either one though would be a great starting camera!

    Excellent super sharp lens but extreme focus breathing at the macro end makes it almost useless for focus stacking. Panasonic macro lenses 30mm and 45mm) have no focus breathing issues.

    Macro is awesome for B roll... it gives you great bokeh
    also used shooting photos for architecture because it lacks lens distortion you get Beautiful straight lines.
    Now you can also use it in a lot of Creative portraits IE water drops and in a marble etc.
    Umm this lens offers a selection of focus ranges and as it works well with "Post" Focus or selective focus camera functions you can Stack focus in photoshop and get Razor sharp focus on a Wide range of depths like Grass blades and an eye for example or an entire collection of small objects
    Now not gonna go into all the ways you missed you can use Macro... but shooting reflections is one major one. I use a macro to shoot a Building reflected in a Spoon type of thing enough I carry a macro with me
    Macro for my Cannon 5d mark 2 was about the size of a Venti cup and heavy. My entire gh4 and 3 lenses is not as heavy and actually fit in my bag. With a Flash and Batteries etc I offically Love this lens.
    The in lens stability doesnt work with gh4 so shaking camera is an issue. 2 upsides for me
    1 i got to get a Gimbol and a slider!!!!

    You are so fidgety (like a jack-in-the-box) when you speaking.
    On the other hand 60mm some focus hunt.
