    I recently went through my disgusting wardrobe after embracing an essence of minimalism.
    After decluttering and keeping quality and beautiful tee's, I realised the peace of mind I got. thanks for the video too.

    I always was a hoarder and had mostly sale items but when I started traveling fulltime that completely changes everything. Nowadays with kind of a stable living situation I just have a few good quality items that I really enjoy and always look put together...I guess a capsule wardrobe is not for everyone but I appreciate it a lot

    I’m the same way about graphic clothing. Shirts, hats, sweaters, I don’t want to walk around looking like a billboard. Also, I’m more of a solid color than a pattern. I don’t do any bracelets or necklaces. Having a couple of each is enough for me. I have some watches, hats, jackets with different warmth. My shoes are a problem cause I don’t have one for different situation.

    hi nicholas, i have watched several of your videos and am subscribed! i really appreciate your thoughts that you share. i'm not a minimalist by any means but have for many, many years embraced the ideas of simplifying down, owning less, and personalizing life hacks (like, for me, my best life hack so far is no more shoe laces, slipon only!). life is too complicated as it is, so putting some thought into lifestyle choices can definitely help. keep it up!

    I have 2 pairs of leather shoes from the time when I was in corporate 3-years ago to be specific.
    Now I really want to get rid of those since I am not using them, but two things are holding me.
    First those shoes are way more expensive... I've tried to sell them, but not getting good value.
    Second, unlike our bodies our foot size remains the same, so I have a feeling of holding them till eternity, which I know is a nonsense 😅
    May someone advise me how to go ahead in this scenario 🙏

    I noticed i gravitate to more neutral colors now i love graphic shirts so my graphic shirts are mostly hues or browns, oranges, gray. I never get decision fatigue picking out my clothes. I wear the same 3 jeans over and over again and I’m ok with that. I’m at the point that i love saving money.

  • @georgeandrews2839
    @georgeandrews2839 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    When I was originally down sizing I didn’t make much of a cut on clothes.
    What I do is whenever a piece gets worn I only replace it with a grey piece.
    Some I don’t replace at all. So I get full value / use of the clothes I’ve already paid for.
    I only keep one “dress suit” and one set of sweats.
    I agree on solid colors, who wants to be a bill board?

    Great video, I'm always inspired by your wardrobe discussions. There was a lot of humor in this one, too. I love the idea of being able to wash all of my clothes in the same way (no separating out white or hand-wash or whatever) and that is what I am moving toward. Also love the concept of mixing and matching muted neutrals as you show. One last thing--I wear socks and flip flops around the house, which doesn't work very well, and it just occurred to me watching your video that I ought to get a pair of Nike slides. Hah!

    Minimalism really become a blocker for me with all these basic clothes. Now I have my own version of a ”basic” wardrobe with dresses in patterns, colors and styles that I like and a few pair of pants. My problem is not having enough clothing, not to much 😅 I do declutter my wardrobe 4 times a year to make sure av get rid of things that doesn’t fit, items that have worn out etc.

  • @richie3097

    Where do you buy high quality basic tees?

  • @epilogical
    @epilogical ปีที่แล้ว

    I've hated fast fashions for the past few years which I think helped me save a lot of money. I just buy plain or simple design (striped) shirts. I also will buy casual shirts from the men's section (I'm female) just because they are better quality and cheaper compared to a similar shirt in the women's section for the same brand.

    Deffo agree with having better quality clothes. You notice the difference when you spend a bit more, in the end you end up saving.
    That watch is awesome, will deffo be checking it out.
    Great idea with having accessories that match with anything. Always the way to go.
    I usually have a clear out with my clothes each year, cut back on what I don’t wear, replace worn out ones etc.
    Great video as ever mate👊🏻

      @@NicholasGarofola Thanks so much. I figured they were expensive, and yes, they will probably last for years. I've bought my T's at Nordstrom on sale (Alex Costa) but had been $80 four years ago! I love them and they are still good, like having nothing on. I can't find these on Amazon (the Alex Costa T's) . I will try Proof, and I really appreciate it!

    I have a minimalistic wardrobe but not in a typical way. I have a more alternative/androgynous style and that is what makes me happy, but I still wind up with some aspects of a typical “minimalist” wardrobe. I have a neutral color scheme, I thrift a lot of graphic t-shirts that are grey/brown/black/forest green. I go for durable pants…and I shop small companies/businesses that align with my values. I love the open conversation layout you have in this video and the beginning statement of basically “just do what feels right for you” because I think that is super important.

      Well said, always do what makes the most sense for you

  • @saavike
    @saavike ปีที่แล้ว

    Awesome. I started following you since I can relate to you. I skate and play basketball aswell. Without even acknowledging, Ive been a minimalist myself for quite a long time. All started with clothing 10 years ago. To be specific, I wear only green which can be controversial for many ppl (since I have also dreads) but I feel comfortable wearing this color + as you said, eliminates decision fatigue. Next thing I got rid off is social media. Oh man life is so much easier without needing to post pics/express anyone and ofcouse no more scrolling. But I do violate it with TH-cam since I work from home and I can watch/listen while working. And another thing. Not sure if you have mentioned in previous videos, but having few best/loyal friends is everything. Same thing applies - you dont need to worrie about meeting with all different ppl just because they are your friends. Its time consuming and before when I had friends that I didnt even kinda call friends.. I just had to meet them because they insisted. This is a douche move but you gotta think whats best for you aint that right? 🙂
    Oh btw, one recommendation that I use while travelling. Toothpaste tablets. Not sure if you guys in US have this but I find it really convenient.
    And question. Is it somehow possible to convince your parter to minimalism? If yes, then how. I have a wife that share some of my views about minimalism but she thinks im a extremist, which im not - yet. This hussle to get her into minimalism has taken me years. I wish I could break that code much faster. 😅
    Greetings from Estonia and fellow skaterboy!👊

      @NicholasGarofola  ปีที่แล้ว

      I appreciate that man! I've heard of toothpaste tablets but never actually saw them for sale here. And my partner isn't a minimalist, yet 😄
