- Hello folks! Today I'm in Tbilisi at one of the flea markets. Here you can also find various interesting things, tools, knives, axes, daggers and so on. This time I was lucky and bought a dagger. This dagger is interesting and small, but the fact that it has a bone handle and old rivets is already interesting! Well, let's start the walk!

The tool you asked about is called a "shingle froe" used for splitting wide thin pieces of wood to make roof shingles. I enjoy the market videos, but I love the restoration videos

Can confirm the tool is a froe - you beat me to commenting that. Not sure if it's a shingling one because most froes are quite similar, but it is indeed a froe - a tool for splitting wood along the grain.
I wasn’t sure of the name. I was sure it was for shingles.
Around where I live, they were also used to make tobacco sticks for curing tobacco. That was before my time.
@@Starbuck01 Those are used for a lot of things - from shingles to paling posts to firewood - even if the latter is overkill use of a froe. *_(NOT_** arguing with you, explaining for those who don't know.)* There _are_ specialist froes for shingles and paling and what not, but as with axes, any froe can do the job. Specialist shingle froes tend to be straight and this one is curved - but that might be for any reason. Not really relevant, mind you, because all froes are used the same way! 😜

I remember that dagger! I watched the video you did on it😄. I've been slowly making my way down the list of your videos. What am I gonna watch when I see them all 😱? I don't really trust any of the other restoration artists.
