Is this common that companies have problem with you working from other countries?
Semi-Old dinosaurs 🦕 are usually the ones with such issues. Companies are evolving though, and some allow a month or two of out of country remote work. That strikes a balance between freedom and between minimizing headaches for HR and Tax departments.
Another reason, which is completely valid, is data residency requirements. If your company is subject to regulations about records having to stay in a specific region or country, then they can't allow their employees to work abroad.
It's workable, but it's a cost benefit question to such companies and it will all go down to competition on the finite market skills. People will probably prefer to work for companies that are more flexible.

Yeah I straight out avoid contracts like that. My work as a security consultant makes that hard sometimes.
