I need help please. I've tried 3 different sensors and even tried another dme on my 2007 e60. I can't get any voltage drop on sensor running magnet across it.
When the crankshaft sensor starts to go bad, it starts showing symptoms when it's cold. This is my own experience. You just can't find that information anywhere. You could easily think that there is a problem with the mixture ratio, although the crankshaft sensor may be the real culprit and may work well in warm weather, but at a certain degree of frost it starts to show symptoms.
@@buckhayes2104 And the freezing point where the symptoms start can be very sharp. It may be that the car works well, for example, at -13 c degrees and -14 c doesn't work anymore very well. In severe frosts, it sounded as if the ignition was completely out of place and the car would only idle at about 500rpm and engine may not be able to take more revs.. The car smoked a lot and the exhaust smelled strange.
@@buckhayes2104 Here's a link to a video where you can hear how the car's engine was doing before the fault was found. I myself had two faults. The crankshaft sensor and then the air mass meter. But the crank sensor was the main culprit. The faulty air mass meter made jerks only at higher revs while driving. But didn't affect the idle and didn't make it difficult.

I had this problem periodically with a Opel Vectra B. First, I took a cheap aftermarket sensor for 20 bucks. It worked fine for a year and broke down again. Then I decided to take an original sensor with the GM logo what was MUCH more expensive. This original sensor did not work at all. The engine made no effort to start. After looking unsucccessfully for any other reasons, I recalled a thread, that somebody said, that mechanics try these sensors out sometimes. I made a last attempt and ordered a cheap sensor again. The car started immediately as if nothing had happened.
Which engine does your Vectra have? There was an issue with crank sensors on certain engines, the solution was to widen the gap where the bolt that hold is in place.
@@MechanicBase The crank sensor of the x20xev was unfortiunately hided behind the power steering pump or compressor. But it could get replaced without removing these aggregates. But it was no fun. At the moment, I have a Vectra B 1.8 (X18XE1) from 1999.
I have a 2001 Chevy express van 1500 it’s got a 5.7 L motor and I cannot find the position sensor anywhere that people are showing me be disguised pretty good. Evidently I might have two of them is that correct?
Can't see anything from above ? Should I be able to see it from looking down from under the bonnet/Hood or do I need to get under the car to actually locate it ? Car is 2017 Mokka X 1.6 petrol
Those cars are known to have issues with a bad PCM (the computer that controls the engine and transmission). Hope that's not the case with your Jeep, though😮
I need help with my e60. When I plug in sensor the 5 volts goes down to 2.5v. It's got good 12v power and good ground from dme. I tried to see any volt drop with a ociloscope. I tried 3 different sensors and 2 different dme.

I have to argue that it is not the most important sensor, your oil pressure sensor I think it is most important because if you don't have oil properly lubing the engine then say goodbye to that engine or to your bank account having to replace or rebuild said engine!!
I think my crank shaft position sensor is bad (got code) or selenoid is bad. So i got a no crank no start. I needed a booster to get car started. Got it to start but car lasted I only 2 days and then did the same thing. I charged battery i case it was battery. Started no crank no start. Did it again and it took 10 seconds turnover before it started. So i dont think its the starter or it wont even turn but the selenoid going bad is not popping out coukd cause it to not turn sometimes or not turn most times? From spinning and cranking? I got a code for cam shaft position sensor, which I read eventually causes no start but it doesnt say if its a no turn no start or of its a turn but no start. Alternator hasnt died or the car would lose power and turn off or just not turn and or crank at all. Other suggestions anyone? let me know please. I dont want to buy new starter and alternator just to find out issue continues. It may be ignition switch or something similar? Not sure

Can this information be applied to motorcycles as well? My kawasaki z900 - 2017 sometimes just wont start and I've gotten the code P0335 on it. Sometimes it just wont start for at least 6-7 tries but then it works just great. However, after riding it for some time , if I turn of the ignition it wont start which has left me stranded a couple of times (sorry for my english, I'm from Sweden) Great informative video btw!
I have no problems starting when the car is cold. N52B25. But when the car can't cool down because of high ambient temperature... the car won't start. It will crank, but not start and give all kind of strange faults (ABS, DSC, et cetera) on the dash and I have to let the car cool down before it will start again. Even last holiday at BMW München, Ferrari Maranello and the Nordschleife. If I let the car cool down enough (sometimes with the hood opened), it starts with no issues at all... like it has no problem :) Could a CPS _going_ bad be the fault? If it gets to hot it's not working as it should be?

My car doesn’t throw a code. It'll run sometimes, then after even a short break, if I walk out or take a minute outside with the engine off, it does not turn back on. I'll have to probably wait 30 mins to get it back on. Any advice?
@MechanicBase It does not crank, sounds like it wants to turn on. But no crank. The lights will illuminate. Frequently happens after a drive. I'll get out and shut the car off. 15 seconds later, 30 seconds, whatever, try to turn it back on and I'm sitting there for at least 30 minutes for it to back over again and get it started. Any clues?
@MechanicBase I replaced the CKP sensor by the way. Car will start and run and then I'll stop after a drive. Shut it off, and doesn't go back on. Could it be the capacitor?
Big thumbs up for mentioning some manufacturers put it on timing belt side. Unfortunately, my Civic is on timing belt side so it was big bucks to replace 😢
My 2017 Nissan patrol super safari starts rough making weird sound, fuel efficiency is lower than the norm, RPM plays around at idle, has no check engine light on (bought it used, suspect foul play). Used my scan tool and got a confirmed P0335 engine speed sensor which I assume is the same as crankshaft position sensor. Cleared it and and it still came back the same. Not sure where the crankshaft sensor is to inspect it, and the manual doesn't mention it. Its worth mentioning I also have a confirmed C1130 (ABS system code).

I have a 2012 Volkswagen Passat SEL. Problems cranking, give it gas and starts ok ish, rpms above around 1,200 runs fine but when rpms below 1,000 starts sputtering and engine shaking and sometimes dies, i just had an oil change last month on april 7 and oil level was at half and it was dark. Is that from the valve, magnet, or sensor? Please help. I only kindly know what I am doing. Only because of videos. Code P0011
The code P0011 is Camshaft position sensor related. In simple words, the intake valves are opening too soon, which allows to much air into the engine. That's why the idle is high, and it has a tendency to stall. The problem might be in the sensor or the VVT solenoid. Has this started just after the oil change?

GREAT VIDEO BRO. After winter my batterie in my S2000 died, I replaced it and the car started, but it didnt run smooth. The power was low, revs fell off and missfiring started and it cut out. I thought that was probably the Ignition coils. Replaced them and the car ran better but vibrations were getting higher the warmer the engine got. Then I got a tool to read the fault and it said Crankshaft position sensor. I erased it, it wont start anymore but now i definetly know why. It all makes sense after watching your video. @@louwscustomsza I'm having same problem. Mine just cranks. I've changed the vvt solenoid, solenoid filter, camshaft sensor, fuel pump, starter, battery, a couple sparks plug... It's still cranks but no start. I have no codes showing when I plug the OBD. I'm thinking it's the crankshaft sensor tho.
@chriskramp5174 My problem was the metal plate that came after the crank sprocket. Apparently, the letter on it is supposed to be faced outside(B)(F). The crank sensor gets its reading from it

I've a Opel Corsa C 1.4 16v the engine start good, any codes or ligths on the dashbord appers, but after 15 or 20 minutes after the start and when the engine get temperature 90°c the engine cut out, after that, I trying to restart it, but the half of the dashbord is off... no check engine light, no oil, no inmo, nothing light are ON... after that 1 hour and when the engine is cold or warm, the engine start again normally. Just found this. 1998 honda prelude no start. Replaced distributor, rebuild starter, replaced oem ngk spark plugs. Got no codes. Just did timing belt change with all related components about 6 months ago gates kit with japan parts.

The code P0011 is Camshaft position sensor related. In simple words, the intake valves are opening too soon, which allows to much air into the engine. That's why the idle is high, and it has a tendency to stall. The problem might be in the sensor or the VVT solenoid. Has this started just after the oil change?

GREAT VIDEO BRO. After winter my batterie in my S2000 died, I replaced it and the car started, but it didnt run smooth. The power was low, revs fell off and missfiring started and it cut out. I thought that was probably the Ignition coils. Replaced them and the car ran better but vibrations were getting higher the warmer the engine got. Then I got a tool to read the fault and it said Crankshaft position sensor. I erased it, it wont start anymore but now i definetly know why. It all makes sense after watching your video. @@louwscustomsza I'm having same problem. Mine just cranks. I've changed the vvt solenoid, solenoid filter, camshaft sensor, fuel pump, starter, battery, a couple sparks plug... It's still cranks but no start. I have no codes showing when I plug the OBD. I'm thinking it's the crankshaft sensor tho.
@chriskramp5174 My problem was the metal plate that came after the crank sprocket. Apparently, the letter on it is supposed to be faced outside(B)(F). The crank sensor gets its reading from it

Does your car run OK? If so, you can delete the code and see if it returns.

I've a Opel Corsa C 1.4 16v
the engine start good, any codes or ligths on the dashbord appers, but after 15 or 20 minutes after the start and when the engine get temperature 90°c the engine cut out, after that, I trying to restart it, but the half of the dashbord is off... no check engine light, no oil, no inmo, nothing light are ON... after that 1 hour and when the engine is cold or warm, the engine start again normally. Do you think that the sensor is damaged or the connector o wires?

Just found this. 1998 honda prelude no start. Replaced distributor, rebuild starter, replaced oem ngk spark plugs. Got no codes. Just did timing belt change with all related components about 6 months ago gates kit with japan parts.
