The level of care is desperate. Poor Daryl is completely lost, alone and angry and just desperate for a place of safety but his doctor has no issue with letting him leave. She also seems to take his mild insults ('this is just a job to you') personally too, probably because Daryl has hit a nerve with them. Also, asking someone who is obviously acutely mentally ill 'what are your plans for the evening?' is ludicrous. What is she expecting his answer to be? gourmet dinner and a night at the theatre?! Care in the community my arse. Thanks Maggie Thatcher.
V😂Roy true, it seems he needs some real close care whereby he is encouraged to re engage with society. Care I; the community has been an absolute disaster. I’m not saying lock up all who have mental illness , today Daryl would be seen as extremely depressed and needs regular help, not fire fighting
I am still shocked that a patient has just informed the mental health worker he has effectively taken an overdose, her reaction was i will pop round some time this afternoon. Not sure if this was due to an overload of case work or just letting it go. She should have called an ambulance if she was too busy to save him
Daryl is lonely but afraid to mix in with the outside world. Let him stay in hospital he seems happy there. Let the poor bloke stay there forever if he wants. As a person who suffers terribly with depression I know how it feels to not want to be lonely but who just doesn’t fit in. By the way people would never know I am depressed I hide it quite well. It is terrible to look ok on the outside and feel helpless inside your head.
You don’t get the dr coming out like this these days, I’ve had stays in hospital and crisis team come out. For me my running helps with mh , not all the time but a good amount of time
We have maybe one per state in the southern US. They’re like if prison was friendly. Same bedding just newer. Also the people that clean are paid to do so in the psych wards so the newer ones are very clean. Other than that they’re horrible places and you won’t find an actual doctor on the ward. Just doctors that serve on the board and approve basic medications. Everyone takes an Ativan and shivers under the two top sheets they give you to sleep with. Oh! And they give you an airline pillow in the psych wards. You almost never get a pillow in jail. Like maybe a couple jails in the country have pillows. They’re not even available to buy on commissary. I forget why but at some point people were tearing up pillows and doing some sort of contraband pillow scheme. Jail/prison is a very creative place.
@@davidharvey8812not particularly, but it's hardly offensive! It wasn't cruel or mocking so chill out. Ugh I hate it when people feel the need to point out every little thing. It just doesn't matter!
Whoa i actually saw a Greg's on the high street when he was on the bus!!! I was convinced that Gregs was some crazy mandela effect that never actually existed before about 2005 😂 people act like its a British institution but i swear in the south east i never saw one until 15 years ago, and even then only becase they took over all the local bakers oven shops.
I have worked with psychiatrists like that Raphael and she is clearly not good at her job and takes it out on her patients. Darryl has told her he has taken an overdose and she says I ll see you later. I wonder what happened to her I bet she isn’t practicing (I hope not) clearly never learnt any empathy, compassion or motivational interviewing! She is totally useless. Just admit him.
I was five days away from seeing Pink Floyd live in Vancouver, B. C. I recall that week very well. Doesn't seem at all that it could be 30 years ago now. I was 22.

Hospitals are not institutions. Their purpose is to rehabilitate the ill.

Dr Raphael clearly saw Darryl as a malingerer.
The psyche ward used to be OK but now the beds are uncomfortable and far from home due to budget cuts.

Your observations are interesting. Gregg's was founded in 1951, according to Wikipedia, by John Gregg 🤰
That raphael woman.was.useless, that one worker had.so much singular control was wrong.

Its weird to see june 20th 1994 the day I was born how life just was going on while I was a fresh human out the womb ❤😅
Life wasn't exactly just going on was it. It was a big old never ending struggle
