And there are already underwater monitoring devices setup between Taiwan and the Philippines and between Taiwan and Japan’s southern islands.

I am on the verge of becoming 63. In the 1970s when I was in Middle School, a social studies teacher told us students that at that time there was enough Chinese people to circle the globe three times.
When I see how close those two islands were to the Chinese mainland and how far they were from Taiwan, I see a strategic disaster to attempt to keep them in Taiwan.
That said, it is a shame that the US has wasted its wealth, strength, and reputation for a bunch of senseless wars, especially these current money drains, and China biding its time will walk right in. May the Taiwanese people truly value their freedom and fight to the bitter end.

Because of the island chain, Japan in the north and Philippines in the south, and Taiwan in the center, china has limited access to the vast area of the Pacific ocean. China does not care somehow about the semiconductor produced by Taiwan. They want to take Taiwan by all means in order to have limitless access to the Pacific as what the USA is enjoying. For china, Bashi Channel is very narrow for them to get in and out of the Pacific Ocean when all there movement can be seen and are being monitored. That’s why, most of the time china ships turn off their AIS automatic identification system, so that satellite could not detect their location and movements at sea. Just like what happened recently in Catanduanes, a major Island of the Philippines in the east side, the chinese research ship was seen by the air surveillance plane of the Ph Air Force, dropping some research equipment in that Philippine EEZ without permission. But this chinese ship could not be seen in the graph. When Philippine Navy ship went there, they were gone. What are they doing there in the Philippines Sea, maybe testing the water for deuterium? Because that area there east of the Philippines is identified to have a large amount of deuterium deposit. Deuterium or Heavy Hydrogen which is said to be the fuel of the future. An endless source of green energy.

Like it or not, no one can defeat the U.S. in a conventional war. The U.S. military was built and perfected for such warfare. On the other hand, any country would struggle in an unconventional war, i.e. Iraq, Afghanistan, Vietnam. Hit and run tactics, urban warfare, etc. are the most effective against a conventional behemoth. How do you fight a war like that and expect to win, when you don’t know who the enemy is? Especially when you try to abide by the rules of engagement, law of armed conflict, etc. Your enemies use these “rules” against you, while they adhere to none.

I taught English in China over 20 years ago. The thetoric then was already very strong. The average Chinese student thought it was a grave injustice that Taiwan was protected from becoming Chinese as it generally has been throughout history. And when you study the history you do learn that a very corrupt pro-western (puppet government) collapsed when Japan invaded in WWII and were basically rescued by America and set up in Taiwan as the mao's communist army fought off the Japanese and took the reins of government with national popular support. And much of the national treasure has been looted by the fleeing Chiang Kai Shek (sp?) government.
That said China has become a monster and they will punish the Taiwanese people.
