- Taken from the 'Life In The Jungle' album released in 1982.
I can remember being on holiday at Butlin's holiday camp Bognor Regis with my parents around '83 and picking this album up whilst out shopping somewhere. I then had to wait a week to get home and play it as the chalets never came with a turntable ha ha.
'The Old Romantics' was the first track I learned from it as it was a stand out tune for me.
I used the Copicat for this one, the trusty old '64 Vox AC10 Twin and of course my faithful red Strat.
Listened to many versions of this beautiful song. Yours is the best, Rufus!
Thanks for watching 😀
Don’t know how I have not found your channel before today …. I’m hooked up and subscribed now ….. thank you for sharing YOUR time with us all to relax and enjoy 🎸
Thanks Tom, it's much appreciated 👍🏼
A Watkins Copycat was the first echo unit I had in ‘63 after that a Binson, great echo units...good playing
Thanks mate 👍🏼
Great sound and playing. Back in the Good Old Days I used a Copikat when playing Shadows. Nobody compkained. Lol.
Beautifully played, and a wonderful tone!!
Thank you 👍🏼 😊
Agreed.. Beautifull! A very lovely tune and your rendition is spot on 🙂

Great performance Rufus,
really well played and presented. Lovely sound, bought my Watkins Copycat back in '64 for my first gig, wish I still had it!
Keep 'm coming, John.
Cheers John.
I messed around with a few vintage echoes for this one. The Roland Chorus 301 the Dynacord Super and even the Quadraverb, but the Copicat just seemed to suit it best. I picked it up from eBay last year. It was a mint '63/'64 model if I can remember still with the original cover and receipt!!
Thanks for your comment mate, it means a lot when people stop by.
All the best.
Bought my Quadraverb's from Ebay must try my luck with a CopyCat, Thanks Rufus.
Loved that, thanks for sharing.
Thank you for watching 😀🎸
Beautifully played, Rufus! Bravo
silvano novalis Thanks mate 👍🎸🎶🎵

lovely sound mate and great guitar playing keep it up
Thanks mate 👍👍🎸🎸
Beautiful job there Rufus. Cheers, Gary.
Thanks Gary :)
I am a universal guitarist and I love the shadows too
The Copycat sounds amazingly good. It's a shame they didn't make a four or five replay head model to compete with Binsons/Meazzis?
I'm pretty sure they did a later model, still all valve but it had 5 heads and a speed control!
They come up every now and then but they are usually a grand or so.
They look stunning.
@@rufusdtonebug4049 - I don't remember seeing such model in Australia in the 1960s? Most guitarists in OZ used Echolettes - much more versatile but not really Shadows type echo! I couldn't even find out in those days what type of echo machine Hank used!
@@bernhardnizynski4403 He used an old drum model Meazzi, extremely rare.
I had an old Meazzi restored to Hanks early spec.
I made a video on my channel of the full restoration process if you want to check it out 👍🏼
I then did a demo of it by playing 'Wonderful Land' and it sounds pretty spot on to me 😃👍🏼
@@rufusdtonebug4049 - Yes, I've found it - thanks! Who did the Meazzi restoration for you? BTW I have a 1964 Brown Face AC30 - was originally a Bass version - just a minor tweak with a .001 capacitor across the volume control - beautifull!
watkins did make 4 5 and 6 replay heads
I always said you could get a passable basic shads echo from a Copicat, it’s the complicated one Wonderful Land that’s the problem
Hi again 😃
I love the sound of my Copicat.
It's mint and only had one owner before me. I have the receipt from the original purchase!!!
It's all original including the heads which usually get replaced.
Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🎶🎸🎸
super avec écho Wilkins comme moi en 1964
Nice tone there Rufus! Which one do you like best between the Echocord Super and the Copicat?
Elinin Hi.
The Copicat is a much better sounding machine and easier to operate than the Dynacord. There is a touch of top end loss with the Copicat but I suppose that's why people use it just as a valve pre-amp because there is quite a bit of gain on tap when driven!
The Echocord has a nasty fizz to the repeats if set for many repeats if that makes sense. They get too much treble as they fade so you have to be careful when you set it.
Another thing with the Dynacord is there is far too much gain so you have to set it very low but you still get quite a lot of hiss because of this.
I'm hoping to have these issues sorted by a great tech I know so it becomes much more usable.
I hope this helps if you're considering either unit.
Cheers
Thanks for the Reply Rufus! I just got an Echocord Super. I am sending it to Bobby Staedel in Germany for service. I should get a copicat soon! Do your Echocord has the three pots on the top of the deck? Keep it coming I really do enjoy your videos! Thanks..
Elinin Hi, yes it does have the 3 pots but they don't do anything!!!
I've tried turning them all the way up and down but nothing.
There are 2 trim pots on the side too when you take the cover off. These adjust volume of repeats and length of repeats.
Does yours sound ok or does it have that high treble to the decaying repeats?
