I'm a living testament that these tools do work. "Tell it to the people in a war zone, disadvantaged etc". I'm disabled living in a country three years deep into war, with constant blackouts, sometimes days without electricity, surrounded by death, grief and suffering.
Safe to say that all my fears have come to fruition and...life has never felt more meaningful, truly. And I've never felt more at peace, yet courageous both in the face of life and death. This is the way, sisters and brothers. It's about behaving as beautifully as one can under completely impossible circumstances (aka life).
I don't know whether I came to this work as the way to cope with the world or a natural progression on my self-realization path but either way, have managed to redefine survival following the advice on this channel and works of Stoics, transcendentalists, Christian mystics, Frankl, Rilke etc. If remembering correctly, he said that people are drawn to the easy and the easiest of the easy, but it's clear that we must hold ourselves to the difficult.
Atesh, thank you for always reminding us to mirror and magnify each other's light. Thanks for everything.
Wow this is extremely powerful and inspiring. Thank you very much for your words ❤
A very common core of PTSD is "moral injury". When you are faced with a difficult or impossible situation and you do not act as morally as you thought. Suddenly you are faced with your own imperfection and your own selfishness. I've seen this weigh on people and prevent their progress so much more than a fear for their life. They punish, reject and lose themselves. They also refuse help and compassion from others until they have accepted themselves as they are. I've also seen immense post-traumatic growth when these people come to accept and love themselves as imperfect, and use the experience as a valuable lesson that they can learn and teach from. These difficult times are also invaluable opportunities for growth.
Don't underestimate the power of your own morality. It's not a question of what others think or do to you, it's a question of if and how you can live with yourself given your actions.
This video arrived on my feed at nearly the perfect time. I was let go from my job on Monday morning, but irrespective of the discomfort that I immediately experienced within that moment, I was overcome with a sense of stability. An understanding for my ability to overcome. In fact, it didn't bother me nearly as much as I thought it would. Immediately afterwards, I focused my energy towards the actionable steps I knew needed to be taken in pursuit of a new position elsewhere. Nonetheless, I thank you for these videos that sort of externalize my thoughts into a visual format.
You could try therapy, it could help
best of luck ❤
@@mojoryse7836 thank you my friend, and to you as well. 🙏🏼
@@Malemelooo not needed, but I appreciate the suggestion. Simply another challenge that shall be overcome.
Your videos are a gift in a world so focused on “getting theirs” at the expense of others. Every time I falter in my virtues, your videos help get me back on track, thank you very much
Thank you so much for this video!
I loved everything about this and once again, forever grateful!
Always remember...
"They make everything better and they are fully under our control." 🤗
Such true statements. To hear someone talk like this is reassuring and grounding. It reminds me to keep refining myself and not be distracted with all the worldly delusions.
Thank you for another dose of precious wisdom
It is so easy to get swept up in the tidal waves the world throws at you, and these bits of knowledge from history makes navigating the challenges of life a little easier. These videos help me orient myself towards what truly matters. Thank you.
Yes, we can feel it in our conscience. It's actually so simple yet seems complex. Thanks for the heads-up.
Thankful to you for sharing 🙏🌟
I would love to see a bookshelf tour from you :)
For me, I no longer fear problems because I have lost all my important battles with life, so when another problem comes to me, all I do is not worry anymore, not because I am wiser or stronger, but because I have already given up.
As an older person who doesn't feel old I find myself noticing what strange thingy upset many of my peers - like whether the bins are emptied on time - garbage cans you would say - or that the mail delivery is late. I say to myself that I hope my world never shrinks like that. I believe it won't because since studying the "ancients " ( which is only since end of August and with be life-long) I feel calm in situations that previously would have given me stress like visiting a friend in hospital with an uncertain outcome on their recovery. I also find myself remembering an insight from Marcus Aurelius or Seneca right at the time I am thinking of something difficult i know is coming up and it's absolutely amazing the effect it has. Just marvellous. Thank you so much philosophy man you have literally changed my quality of life and I see no reason for that to ever change. The "ancients " have an answer for everything and always using the virtues as my guide i have such peace and contentment. 😊 from Scotland.
Lol, you've got way bigger problems in the UK to worry about than worrying about garbage cans and mail delivery!
I came to the conclusion that the ancients didn't have anywhere near the distractions we do today so they came to these epiphanies sooner.
Thank you - Your videos are therapeutic, and I truly appreciate them.
I like this week's video where you suggest folks disadvantage yourself for a clear conscious - i also think it's a drop in the Ocean that has a reaching ripple effect. It's underrated in todays societies and needs to be preserved.
"Disadvantage yourself." man this is why I love your videos. You often expand on values or views I came to naturally but never thought about the reasons why. It just felt right. This video in particular reminds me of the scene in Pirates of the Caribbean where Captain Jack Sparrow says to his dad, "That's the trick isn't it? To survive." To which Captain Teague responds, "It's not about living forever, Jackie. The trick is living with yourself forever."
Excellent!
Your talks, michael singer and orion philosophy have become my sunday sermons - thank you for enriching our lives!
I'm sitting here with fingers on the keyboard and a burning yearn to express the depth I feel for this particular reflexion of yours, but all that comes to word is a profound and humble... wow. I will have this one on repeat for long years to come, thank you.
Thank you, much appreciated!
Our friend is back ❤
Have a good day everyone
Thanks!
Thank you!
Being old is a challenge in itself both physically and mentally which you will one day experience. And as for large challenges - especially when facing them on ones own and having too many - they eventually wear you down. Life shouldn't be so serious all the time. There has to be a balance but for some people everything gets thrown at them. Thats when sadly they become vulnerable to the idea of suicide or have a nervous break down.
I agree, but I don't think that really was his point. The point was more that lack of bigger problems makes one "seek" bigger problems in smaller ones, such as the cleaner misplacing things. It's natural to get old and let things slow down.
It’s wonderful watching your videos after making it through to the other end of a long, drawn-out struggle. Now, reflecting on things is a joyous experience, with more understanding and clarity.
I like to think of it as being in the off-season. Having battled and won, now I prepare for the inevitable next season in life with new tests and new lessons to learn.
Finally a new video. Time to learn. And thank you once more for sharing your wisdom.
You are awesome, very inspiring
So helpful and so inspiring! Love this life-reminder!
Timely and welcome. 🙏
This video reminds me of words that said, Those who go astray will not harm you if you are guided.
Thank you for these videos, made me read Meditations and contemplate on each of the thought.
Great message brother.
If it only it worked the same way for me. Bigger challenges in my life make the easier ones harder to handle. Its when I don't have a those larger challenges that I'm able to handle the smaller ones
Really needed this. Thanks❤️
I red a Schopenhauer quote once,
He who humbles himself wants to be exalted
Wer sich erniedrigt will erhöht werden
Im very grateful👏
This is what I needed 👍
these are so helpful, thank you 🙏💗
Thank you for your videos on ancient philosophy and day-to-day life. I believe in living akin to virtues such as honestly, kindness and being just, but If I am using the virtues that I live by as a tool to face my challenges, make me more confident or more efficient in tackling them. Then what happens when I’m faced with the (possibly uncontrollable) situation of choosing one virtue over the other e.g. lying to save a loved one ? I can no longer find sanctuary in knowing I am sticking to all the virtues, the feeling of reassurance when I engage with the challenge is no longer there, and I am perhaps incapacitated in my decision making. Somehow to me, this challenge would be the most important to overcome, and the one which I am most unprepared to face after a life of sticking to the virtues.
Amazing, 🌹
just exactly as i needed😢
Thank you!
just what i needed eating breakfast right upon opening youtube
Thank you. . .
Sir, you have been an immense help to me this year and I have a request. My best friend and was also a man I was deeply in love with committed suicide. He is alive but was recently declared brain dead. I just don't know how to move forward. I am hoping you can give me some kind of guidance or thought that can help me through this. And yes I have a therapist. I just want your help in figuring out how to get past this
I’ve been working my way through your book recommendations and they are truly life changing. I wondered if you had read any Camus, in particular The Myth of Sisyphus essays and if so your views? It seems to me there is overlap with the work of the Stoics and Frankl in the sense that one should face life with courage and responsibility in defining ones own meaning in life in spite of an absurd universe? Similarly the overlap in human agency, to choose one’s attitude to life as well as a focus on the present and experiences. Similarly the notion of death as a certainty that should not be feared but give meaning to life and an urgency to exhaust the limits of the possible in our finite lives.
Perfect timing
Yey, new video!
Love u bro
wow, it clicked for me in this video

Golden ratio baby!!!!!
I cannot read this Quote of the Week without thinking of Bashar al-Assad and Benjamin Netanyahu.
Yes, so true with challenges I've faced in my personal life. Do you have words of wisdom about the anxiety many Americans are feeling about the recent election in the U.S. An unvirtuos man is going to be our president.
Oh please. They are all the same. It's just another game that they have you perceive this or that one as worse than the other. That circus needs to be ignored. I don't even vote because I know better. Get off that wheel of lies. Politricks sucks. Move on.
@meloearth well sounds like you got it figured out, good luck.

Using examples of people who do things you believe or perhaps know to be wrong as reasons to rationalize your own wrongdoing seems a bit odd to me. For example, knowing that some people will use manipulation to get what they want from you isn't a reason to live a manipulative life or use that tactic yourself; instead, use that knowledge as a way to defend yourself against or counter such behaviors. Allowing those people to make you like them is a bad idea. Learn to overcome that weakness within yourself, to overcome the desire for the path of least resistance.
If you choose to live a bad manipulative life be aware that you will receive it bad equal and opposite.
It's just a matter of time.
I disagree. Some of life's challenges endure and stay constant for decades at least. They don't get easier "in some way shape or form". If a challenge is difficult enough, or not interesting enough to garner huge dedication - simply high levels of difficulty - is not enough for our minds to "just stretch" and increase our capacity to then handle those challenges. There is research to show extremely high difficulty turns people off, rather than keeping them engaged and allowing them to gradually get better at adapting and overcoming that challenge.
