I applaud VW for its aggressive move into the EV market. However, there's nothing compelling about any EV presently on the market that would make me want to go out and buy one. None of them are fast enough or power enough to be of any special interest.
They're all VW's "good enough" basic transportation, but nothing special enough to offset the extra cost, and trouble of dealing with the limited charging infrastructure. I'd also have to give up the security of a true spare tire, and a sun roof that actually opens. As far as I know, only Porsche has retained that particular feature on its EVs.
The range is still by far the greatest limitation for someone like me that lives in an apartment with no way to charge it outside of seeking out a charge station where I'd be exposed to the elements. Once the range approaches 400 mi. I know for sure the car can outlast me even on an all-day road trip.
On the bright side, I do like this infotainment display a lot more than the giant one they have in the ID 7. Its much more aesthetically pleasing in its placement in the center of the dash without being overwhelming in size.
