Super joyous rendition of "Out in the Street"! I just love the part at 4:15 when Clarence turns to Danny and just smiles and dances! They're both in heaven now, playing together again, without any care at all. Love to see that.
I was out in the streets in 1980 in Frankfurt. Now I am sitting in an airport lounge in Delhi killing time and thinking how quick time has passed. If you read this, be aware life is over before you realize it. So enjoy it now..
So true! So right! Is today the last day of your life? Did you live it flat out? Gas pedal floored? No....not dead yet.... But, tomorrow? Yea, maybe.... So stand up and live it!!! Worst case? Not dead ? Again? Hooray!!!!!! Rinse, repeat......
I was at this concert - Grady Gammage in Tempe, AZ - 1980. It was sold out and last minute the seats behind the stage were opened up for sale..we didn't care where we sat - just happy to be able to see him - this was the best concert I have ever seen in my life, and I have seen many! There are no words to describe how incredible it was!
I saw the River tour but not in Tempe. I saw it in December 1980 at the Boston Garden and then a few weeks later at Nassau Coliseum on December 29, 1980 (some have called that Bruce's greatest live performance EVER), and then in Chicago in September of 1981 I saw ALL THREE SHOWS when he played the Rosemont at the next to the last stop on the tour. Sigh. Those were the days... Now I feel OLD. but this music never gets old.
@2:25 the sax solo they failed to light up the sax player The Big Man Clarence Clemons. Watch as Bruce, being the gentleman he is runs across stage, dragging his spot beam of light to light up Clarence.
Bruce puts his mind and heart into lyrics and then he puts his sweat and tears into live shows!! He is hands down the best live show that I have ever spectated!!!!!
He E St and The Who ( with Moonie) are most definitely the best live shows I’ve personally witnessed. The WHO in 1976 then The Boss and E St in 1978. In Texas The Who in Ft Worth and Bruce and E St in Dallas ( Memorial Auditorium) .
Don't worry about the "dislikes", Bruce will always be The Boss when it comes to live performances; nowadays no one comes close to putting out that much emotion and energy in a live show
maybe he's using steroids or something to keep his energy level up while he's playing or he's just a jock in disguise hiding his athletic acumen from the world.
What a whirlwind 5 minutes of my life:) This is truly their glory days ...when everyone was alive , happy and clicking on all cylinders! Damn I miss the 80s!
He was a true force of nature...the energy the joy and the power of r'n'r! He is still this young man in some way in his '70....i would have loved see him in concert in the year 78 or 80! I would have been blown away....
I love this song it was one of my husband Favorite he always sang it to me he passed away five years ago and I miss him so much this song reminds me so much of him he love Bruce music
i was supposed to check my emails for something from my lawyer but i got sidetracked and landed here watching Bruce springsteen videos.. so satisfying.. was a long time fan..still is.
listened to the boss and the band my entire life, especially the River, but never realized how fun this track is until seeing this. Clarence, Stevie, and Danny are having a blast
Truly one of the best rock n roll songs ever made... that swing at the end... with Clarence dancing and the band in its prime IS the moment in concert you want it to NEVER end... and if I die and find that it never does I’ll know I’m in heaven.
Lucky bugger. Waited from 1980 to 2014 - saw him in Cape Town AND Johannesburg South Africa and now still waiting for another return. In the meantime, love You tube, follow all the concerts here :)
Was born and raised on the streets of jersey for four decades Raced my 1970 Mustang 351- 4 speed hurst shift, Candy apple red with white racing strips had some of the best times of my life especially at the jersey shore Point pleasant ,Asbury park, SeaSide Heights ,Barnegate lite , Every Every time I listen to this music it takes me back Every Time
Gotta be one of my all time very favourite Springsteen songs ...still even today ...nearly 40 years after I first heard it .....Its stirs SO many memories :)
He still is an awesome performer in 2024. He might have lost some energy and he has to breathe more often, but he still delivers with passion. This is such a good reflection of how young people feel, l love it.❤❤❤❤❤
E o cara estava certo " o futuro do Rock já possui nome e seu nome é Bruce Springsteen " não há dúvida desta declaração de John Landau! passou 36 anos e nossos ouvidos ainda nos deixam jovens!
WOW red wine flowing this has just taken me back to my youth. 16/17 walking home with the River album in hand dying to get it on the deck. I had just heared Born to Run on the radio for the first time only months earlier. I spent my hide earned pay on this album and this track just blew me away.
Can you imagine dressing up, going out onstage, and playing the tambourine for Bruce Springsteen? What are the qualifications, because I want that job?!
I was at the River tour in Madison sq garden. I cannot even begin to describe the electricity of that concert! We were high (not from the smoking) for days after that. He was skipping and hopping all over the stage and he and Clarence blew us away! Bruce is the Boss!
I too was there at what was then called the "University Activity Center"... I've never been a big Springsteen music fan - but watching Bruce and the band bouncing around that stage, all smiles with each other, sweating it up, playing good music together as a single tight unit... Awesome. This performance just makes you feel happier. Very few could deliver it LIVE like this band back in the 70s/80s.
Never liked this song . Opened with it in the August Meadowland 1984 shows . I liked when the band was young and hungry . After 1978 the live performances just didn't have that spark anymore . The 1975 tour was phenomenal . Now he writes as a political critic , and critiquing his blue collars' choice for President ! I'm in the construction industry in NJ , and from a twenty something swinging a sledge-hammer to a sixty five year old engineer , all rejected the Democrat vision . Interesting . The middle class working guy who made his career in some ways , he has turned his back on them . I know a lot of people here in Jersey who have nothing good to say about the guy who we all thought sang for us . But hey , it was a great ride .
Sometimes I play a game with my brain where I am back in my bedroom in '63 watching some musical act on - I don't know....Ed Sulivan - and a man from the future appears, hooks two wires up to the antenna inputs, tunes to unused channel three, then plays something like this from a strange typewriter. I always end up teary-eyed. Despite all, isn't this an incredible life to live; to be able to hear Bruce then go out and conquer our lives?
This show was not at Grady Gammage, it was at ASU Activity Center..The basketball/sports arena. I snuck in for the sound check, which was amazing! They played songs they did not do in the show. Their sound ck was better than most bands shows! This was also the same arena that Elvis played on his last tour. Phx was the first stop.
It's always hard for me to rate his albums. I love Greetings because it's touches so many things within me. Darkness has some great songs but seeing him multiple times on that tour ingrained those songs in my soul and just blew me away.. Nebraska, born, human Touch, tunnel, Rising, Magic, Tracks. They're all so good. But when ever I try to justify one of them I always seems to say but then there's the River. With the Release of the box set and the added attention has just reinforced what I always wanted to admit. This is his best albums and one of the better albums by anyone.
+Bob Gwartney .. If i had to condense 4 albums of Bruce's. Remember I love what ever Bruce puts out there. But for me personally it would be Born To Run, Darkness, The River, Born In The USA.
Difficult to rate but Darkness was always my favourite and then The River and then Nebraska just for its pure soulness and then probably The Rising...and of course everything else still fits in my top ten :)
Super joyous rendition of "Out in the Street"! I just love the part at 4:15 when Clarence turns to Danny and just smiles and dances! They're both in heaven now, playing together again, without any care at all. Love to see that.
What a lovely comment. They are both in heaven for sure
Pppôll
Looks like the holy ghost hit. 😊
When your kids ask you what was rock in roll. show them this!

I know...1954-
One in a million. Never see greatness like this again.
I was at this concert - Grady Gammage in Tempe, AZ - 1980. That show was at the University Activity Center. They played there again on 11/8/84 for the Born in the USA tour.
I saw the boss in atl on this tour best concert ever went to

Oh so you were one of the bums in the bleachers he mentions in Sherry Darling, love that!
Agree with you. It was one of the greatest concern I’ve ever seen.
@2:25 the sax solo they failed to light up the sax player The Big Man Clarence Clemons. Watch as Bruce, being the gentleman he is runs across stage, dragging his spot beam of light to light up Clarence.
You're right! Well spotted. I thought the lighting wasn't the best but didn't notice this.
Nothing else really compares or even comes close. I loved everything about The River album 42 yrs ago and still do.
The energy is breathtaking.
Bruce puts his mind and heart into lyrics and then he puts his sweat and tears into live shows!! He is hands down the best live show that I have ever spectated!!!!!

you are right

I don't know why so many dislike Bruce Springsteen. He is The Boss and the haters will never change that.
One of his very best songs, performed brilliantly- and I saw this tour live.
What a whirlwind 5 minutes of my life:) This is truly their glory days ...when everyone was alive , happy and clicking on all cylinders! Damn I miss the 80s!
He was a true force of nature...the energy the joy and the power of r'n'r!

This song is always a big highlight in his shows.
Whoa, the band is so ON in this clip. What a great performance.
Would have loved to have seen this show back in 1980!
I saw this show when I was 19......where has the time gone??? Long live the Boss ( And me) 😁
Bruuuuuuce!!!! Greatest of all time!
I was there! And I'll be seeing him again in 4/2023
It really sounds fresh
Out In The Street= best song out there about the joys of quittin time on a Friday ;)
RIP Big Man and Phantom Dan. "If you're here and we're here, they're here."
Saw him in Pittsburgh for the 1st time that same year... Rock n Roll in it's purest form, completely blew me away
Easily the best live version of this song I've ever seen!
i was supposed to check my emails for something from my lawyer but i got sidetracked and landed here watching Bruce springsteen videos.. so satisfying.. was a long time fan..still is.
One of my favorites!!!
listened to the boss and the band my entire life, especially the River, but never realized how fun this track is until seeing this. Clarence, Stevie, and Danny are having a blast

They’ll be listening to The Boss and E Street 200 years from now.
Truly one of the best rock n roll songs ever made... that swing at the end... with Clarence dancing and the band in its prime IS the moment in concert you want it to NEVER end... and if I die and find that it never does I’ll know I’m in heaven.

This is a true working class anthem, what doubt can there be about it
One word is delicious in every way Bruce is and always will be the King of Rock.
Was born and raised on the streets of jersey for four decades Raced my 1970 Mustang 351- 4 speed hurst shift, Candy apple red with white racing strips had some of the best times of my life especially at the jersey shore Point pleasant ,Asbury park, SeaSide Heights ,Barnegate lite , Every Every time I listen to this music it takes me back Every Time
The last minute of this video makes me weep.
0:09 Bruce's pick flies away, then he picks it up again XD, a genius!
Happy Big 7-0! Great to see the Professor and the Phantom bringing the keyboard heat!
Gotta be one of my all time very favourite Springsteen songs ...still even today ...nearly 40 years after I first heard it .....Its stirs SO many memories :)

O Bruce é lindo, tem uma voz maravilhosa, adoro ❤❤❤❤
Whoever votes this down needs to check their pulse to see if they're still living.
+Ken Colwes It's just not possible. I'm saying 4 people's hand slipped
+Ken Colwes I agree! The only reason that makes sense is because the video is slightly out of sync with the sound. Or maybe it's just my computer?
It's NOT a tumor!!
ha ha . what you said..hilarious.
