Fun fact, this video was claimed by some group called "Interstreet Records" claiming that the segment of my video talking about "Remember" (8:41) is actually a song of theirs called "The end". I of course sent in a dispute, hopefully it gets resolved. Also I love how every time I make a video featuring ACFA the video quality tanks HARD lmfao. Game is so fast the bit rate can't keep up
The same thing happened to me on my Mechanized Memories cover actually! I filed a dispute a while back but i'd need to check the outcome of that. None of my other AC tracks have been copyrighted oddly enough. Edit: just checked, the strike was removed, hope yours gets removed as well!
Typical Copyright system thieves. Shell Company Record Label set up by scammer. Scammer then *samples* a popular song for a dogeater trap beat. Scammer uses Shell Company Label to upload the "Beat", effectively stealing primary ownership. We should inform FromSoft with advice to seek damages.
To be fair, Hoshino really started "flexing" his musical muscles after AC4. Before that, all previous gens had a varied amount of composers, a couple of which did most of the more renowned tracks: Tsukasa Saitoh and Keiichiro Segawa, to name a couple. Also, not to be pedantic, but Artificial Sky was NOT composed by Hoshino. It was composed by Tsukasa Saitoh, along with many more tracks for AC3 and Silent line.
Little correction regarding my claims about Hoshino's evolution. He has stated in interviews that Tsukasa Saitoh was a sort of mentor to him, so it makes sense for some overlapping to occur in certain tracks. Also, I was wrong, he started flexing his craftsmanship from Nexus onwards (Albeit with a lot of other composers contributing a lot to the soundtracks)
Im glad people are talking about Kota Hoshino, he really deserves the spotlight more often, also, Im really pleasantly surprised that you talked about "Sys", composed by Tsukasa, yes, but still a damn great song that more fans should know
>!>!>!>!>>!>!!?!??!?!?!??! Today after being a hardcore Armored Core fan for almost 20 years... I have learned AC2's theme song producer's name is pronouncd "Mike van Dike", not "Mijik van Dijik" - I have been LIED TO!!! Jokes aside though, I absolutely love your take on the music and completely agree - Global Cortex's menu is one of the best, and probably one of the most moody that really gets you believing in the world. Good stuff bro :)
This is a great summary and expose on Hoshino's inner mind (given the info available on the man himself). Armored Core has such a deep, detailed and rich story when it comes to...well everything, but specifically when it comes to its music and I think that needs to be celebrated a lot. Great job chief.
I love Kota Hoshino's stuff. Hell, I think all of Fromsoft's composers are great, Shoi Miyazawa has really proved himself with AC6 (especially the 3rd disk)
Oh yeah isn't he the newbie(?) who also liked armored core back in the day and he ended up working with them. I remember reading something along the lines of that. And yeah disk 3 hits hard especially since takes me anywhere is sung by the staff
The english vocals in his tracks remind me of latin used in epic orchetral tracks. Sure they dont always make the most sense but its the sound that matters
Hoshino's music is such an ispiration to me. I think I remember seeing somewhere when I was researching a cover that he is actually a self-taught bassist as well as being unable to read sheet music, which I find extremely relatable. Another Armored Core music tidbit I like is that there was a cover made of Day After Day by one of the now hired by Fromsoft, Shoi Miyazawa, that I think may have led to him being at least brought to the attention of Kota and the FreQuency team.
For me, Mechanized Memories - in the end - was what got me into Armored Core. I was browsing TH-cam one day and got recommended it. I couldn’t stop listening to it, and it always got my blood pumping. I then began to look into what it came from, and as result, got absolutely addicted to Mecha as a genre.
For Answer's 'Cosmos' is my personal fave, and its riddled english lyrics of "Let it go round in the cosmos over the pain" convinces me its the song of the Cradles, and how those living in them atop are ignorant of the world they're poisoning below. Its a powerful, elegant, and tragic piece, and having it play as you fight the Answerer only enhances the experience. Its return in ACVD is also hauntingly beautiful love Kota Hoshino's works. And Disc 3 of ACVI is magnificent. With From's team having continued interest in the AC series, I have high hopes we'll see more of his masterpieces come to life in the near future.
Love the video and honestly armored core series made its own mech music both literally and emotionally in that game . Same goes with Mechwarrior on emphasis on heavy metal dakka and lazers . Titanfall with the you don’t fight alone music ( escalating music ) . I love how it these artist and groups that made the music just to stand out for a video game that they might not even play themselves. ❤subbing (not played lots of mech games but those have those baller like Jesus that’s should be a boss theme)
I also wanted to talk about the fact that FreQuency Spotify page has published now a SHIT-TON of "ambient music"? Like, albums with something like 24 tracks each? And every album was published this year... It's pretty strange 😅 I hope they'll be called again to do the next AC soundtrack!
Good good .... Now my number one question is ... WHERE IS THE MUSIC IN 6 MINUS THE THREE DECENT TRACKS WHEN PREVIOUS GAMES WERE JUST JAM-PACKED FULL OF BANGERS
I've always found it interest AC4 and AC4A had such a different feeling, since they're quite similar gameplay-wise. With that said, Mechanized Memories is SO good and doesn't get enough love.
to break down the Genres for each of the era's even further. PS1 Gen = 90s EDM. Techno, Drum & Bass, House, Acid, Trance... its ALL there. And it's glorious. PS2 Gen = Y2K vibes. Alot of weird electronic Future Dystopian sounding music. Alot of PS2 games have this style, but it dont got an official name. PS3 Gen = a JRock that only Kota Hoshino could manifest 😹 PS4 Gen = Terminator. Very dark ambient, with arpeggio leads like its the 80s.... and then theres stargazers People have preferences for specific generations. But the series having such distinct OSTs is a positive to me. Compare it to say the Souls games which all have orchestral scores... which kinda blend together. Now of course, I would be down for a hypothetical Armored Core 6 DLC: The Coral Must Flow to do some throwbacks. Def not against a lil fanservice, cus some 90s dance music, Y2K ambient, hype gibberish jrock.... These def should be celebrated. But again, it's only thanks to the series willing to try something different that it'd be able to do that.
Number Girl being one of his favorite artists is a really odd coincidence that took me aback because I made several ACfA MVs with Number Girl tracks back in the day.
I swear, the only thing that LACKED in AC6 was the music. It didn't have the engrish, the energy of the previous soundtracks. And that's a pity, cause otherwise AC6 would have been absolutely perfect.
Personally AC6 is one of my fav soundtracks in the franchise, it fits the setting of AC6 so well, the dark dystopian 80s cinematic synths mixed with some electronic music, and some dark ambient stuff at times. I think It's honestly one of my fav osts Fromsoft has put out.

I was going to mention RIP ad revenue, because remember is the only song that keeps getting striked by those same guys on my channel

His best works were in ACV and ACVD tbh

Kota is credited for lyrics on Artificial Sky.

Takes Me Anywhere is an amazing piece filled with passion.
Day After Day basically sings about Magnolia Curtis from ACVD and how she missed the battle field
I love Kota's english very much in his music, it just add to the whole soundtrack of any game.
massive fan of Hoshino's work, one of my favourite video game composers full stop
