That said I've always wanted to learn. I'm a drummer and rhythm guitarist, so my internal metronome is already insanely developed. So at least I'd have an edge that way.
I was a turntablist for 10 years scratching everyday and I could do the Mr. Hahn parts of Linkin Park exactly, Dj Lethal parts from limp bizkit exactly but Sid's parts on Slipknot??? Just 50%, he is the best scratching DJ Slipknot could have. In the first album, in 1999, the tricks he performs were only for mega experts at that time.
I'll never forget I stumbled upon this legend named sid at a Spencer gifts in San Antonio TX, he was buying a blanket, I recognized his transformers tattoo on his hand, then realized his hair was orange too! That's definitely sid! Immediately stood behind him, he grabbed my phone, he took the photo and left into the crowd! Sic show that night.
Just got back from watching Sid and the boys killing it at Download. They had a pretty close camera on Sid and it’s amazing how much he adds to their sound, he’s on it all the time 🤘
It's so crazy seeing the man I've watched live 7 times going crazy on stage and making ridiculous mixes to my favorite songs just hanging out, chillin, being just a genuinely good dude
Been playing drums for 29 years and I know it's doing 3 sometimes 4 things at once but I could NEVER get the hang of scratching. It's a very underappreciated talent. I understand how it's done but it's not as easy as it looks and making it sound good is pretty difficult.
slipknot came out after i got into hiphop through thrasher skate and destroy game, and just before i got into D&B and jungle. the scratching and drums in slipknot tunes were my favourite thing in their music (also their videos too). this is cool stuff. thanks for the video
This is based! I’ve always wanted to see how an actual DJ can scratch and spin the turntables, it looks so fun! Especially in old school hip hop and even Nu Metal! ⭐️😎👍
First of all AJ drums are an instrument and I respect that you play it🤘I do too Second of all I love Sid Wilson and what he does is cooler then I thought!🔥🔥 your so lucky to have met him
Ive know sid and shawn since i was in 1st grade at holy family catholic school here in des moines. Shawn kids went to school with ne and he was very involved in the school and church. I became good friends with his oldest daughter alex in about 2nd or 3rd grade. I miss gabby so much and gage was always a funny crazy kid and as we got older i hung iut with gage more then alex. Ill never forget seeing gabby with this like alomst 30 yr old at a house party and gage and i beat the living breaks out of him. She was 15 or 16 at the time. And sid i knew well from his time being a dj at my moms club razzmatazz as star scream.
When it comes to music, especially genres such as house, rave, techno and other similar genres, Sid REALLY knows his shit. I spoke to him briefly about music and he is pure knowledge, sadly the conversation wasn't as long as i wanted it to be, because Jack Daniels made an appearance!
scratching (or even small section of hip hop beat) in metal songs is cool when its used right but not too much late 90s and early 2000s got the best metal music that used scratching and old school hip hop beats, for some reasons it got bad after that period of time
This was amazing. Practically just gave some pretty good tidbits to future DJ's in here. Sid is just such a unique guy , freaking love him lol 🤟 this must have have been such an experience to witness

@@michaelofparadise Patreon my good friend
I think the scratching and kind of hip hop influence is what made me fw slipknot so much. Sids got that sound
Did Sid bring the flowers? Hes such a gentleman 🖤
This was like living a personal dream through someone else and being just as pleased seeing it as if it was myself. So cool man.
Fun fact: The “Ahh” sample is also used by Joe Hahn(Linkin Park)
(ie. Session, Cure For The Itch, etc.)
8:21 probably the same kid that took a bite out of that crow back in the day. Came back for seconds
"Scratching with Sid Wilson" needs to be a regular segment dude!!!!!!!
Yes please!!! I'd sub to that TH-cam channel instantly lol
That's really cool! Scratching's definitely one of those things that is much harder than it looks, and Sid fuckin' kills it!
Hard as any other instrument. Who thinks tt is a noise joke is a total ignorant.
Idk, it looks pretty fucking hard lol
That said I've always wanted to learn. I'm a drummer and rhythm guitarist, so my internal metronome is already insanely developed. So at least I'd have an edge that way.

Sid makes it looks easy 😂
This really shows How big of a part sid is in slipknot, acutally incredible video and a Massively under appreciated Musician
I'll never forget I stumbled upon this legend named sid at a Spencer gifts in San Antonio TX, he was buying a blanket, I recognized his transformers tattoo on his hand, then realized his hair was orange too! He is a very good teacher. Just 3 sound clips and you can do so much
Dude they even have almost same tattoos on fingers. You can't look me in the eyes and say they're not long lost father and son. Awesome video
I wish he had a masterclasses or a channel on TH-cam on teaching his style. I think he's one of the most underrated DJs on earth.
finally sid is back in the house of masks 🔥
It’s awesome because I’m going to be Sid 1999 for Halloween, and I’m dying to hear the surficing part
I cannot contain my thrill and excitement being part of this Sid Wilson experience!

The scratch king is here
Sid is such a cool dude. Down to earth.
It's so crazy seeing the man I've watched live 7 times going crazy on stage and making ridiculous mixes to my favorite songs just hanging out, chillin, being just a genuinely good dude
People sh*t on DJs, but there's still an art and skill to it, just like any other instrument.
Sid’s parts actually go so unnoticed sometimes❤
Never thought the DJ would be my favorite guy in any band, but here we are.

I started out a lefty in life, my school pushed writing with my right hand, I play a right handed guitar but I do a lot of other things lefty.

This is based! I’ve always wanted to see how an actual DJ can scratch and spin the turntables, it looks so fun! Especially in old school hip hop and even Nu Metal! ⭐️😎👍
