Man I still miss this place, was there back in the mid 70's till the Last Drag Race, 64 funny cars, fox hunts, world finals etc.400 foot burn outs, dry hops, thanks for the memories! and the best burgers at any track, they would put In In Out to shame!
@@hemibrown Thank you, same here, OCIR, Pomona, Irwindale ect... Pop took me to my first drags when I was 8 day's old! 😂 Dad ran Bracket races & that meet was at the old Fontana dragstrip! Hell, You & I probably sat in the stands at the same meet before 👍
This was so cool! I remember the radio ads- the guy screaming "64 funny cars!" What a blast. Used to drive down to OCIR or to the original Irwindale after work on Friday nights watch bracket cars. Good times. I doubt there are 64 nitro funny cars in the entire country now.
JR. High and High School, this was our playground. The great Days of 64 Funny Cars are just an awesome Memory. Disneyland, Knott's berry Farm, and the Beaches of So. Cal. Good times in Anaheim. Shout out to Magnolia Class of '78.
At minute 0:33 that is me at the top of the stands with the long hair. My first drag race was a 64-funny car event at OCIR in 1977. I remember in the early 80's they cut the event down from 64- funny car to 32-funny car event because it got harder to get enough cars for a 64 event. I was in another shot of Dwight's when he was video taping a couple of F-4 Phantoms landing at El Toro Marine base. Again I was at the top corner of the stands on the spectator side. I remember making it in some shots in the National Dragster magazine with my 1970 Buick GS Skylark 455 in the staging lanes at OCIR.
I am surprised the race between Jim Dunn and his son Mike Dunn was not added to this video. I was there for that, and it was one of best burn out/dry hop show downs I remember seeing.
