Finally some carburator videos that i understand. You missed your calling as a teacher. Your videos are so easy to visually understand especially your video on the 2100 choke adjustments. Thank you.

This is the most complete and comprehensive explanation of the workings of the 2100/50.
I really apreciate you sharing your knowledge with us. This is worth more than gold to me.

Thank you so much, maybe I can tune mine now that I know how all the circuits work in conjunction with the vacuum. Very well explained I hope I can find the video of you tuning one!

Excellent videos, Thank you. I have a 2100 off of 65 289 SBF, it has recently been rebuilt by a professional rebuilder.
The car runs good and starts instantly when cold, however once it sits for more than 10 minutes I have to give it 1/2 throttle and maybe a 5 second crank time before it start, when it does it smokes, I smell a strong gas odor and runs rough for a few seconds.
Obviously a rich condition, when it sits for several hours of overnight it starts up instantly again.
The float level is correct and I’ve replaced the power valve. The rebuilder states it’s bad fuel or dirt in the carb, but before installation I replaced the fuel, tank with a new one, new fuel pump filter, clear inline fuel filter and a new filter at the carb.
Fuel pressure is at 5lbs and I flushed the fuel line from the tank with acetone and compressed air till clean.
Any suggestions on the hard start?? Sorry for the long question/comment

Idle mix screws should be set at 1 1/2 turns from seated. The float level and fast idle speed settings are specific to each application and should be listed in the sheet that comes with the carb rebuild kit. If not you will have to go to the library and consult a Motors or Chilton book. 😮

My autolite 2100 does not have that little metal fitting that sits around that brass inlet valve(where the float needle sits in). I think it is referred to as the needle seat baffle. Is that needed? Also how important is the plastic choke rod seal? seemed useless to me.

The plastic choke rod seal kept out any unfiltered air from entering.
