Great. Thanks. My first flight from LCY was to Rotterdam, in a Dornier 228 operated by (the now defunct) Flexair.

Brilliant especially that excellent shot at the end as pulling onto stand with the embraced tacking by and the Swiss avro landing.

Awesome flight ! I'd love to fly on a Saab 2000, looks like an interesting turboprop !

+Vxracing16 - HD Aviation Videos turboprops like the saab 3000 and 2000 series rarely fly in this country

Some say that driving a vehicle with a manual transmission is "real driving". I say that flying in a prop plane is "Real Flying"! This is a "Turboprop" aircraft. A turboprop engine is a jet engine with a propeller attached. It's not a turbocharged piston engine like that of a Porsche. Many non observant people are not aware of that. The word "Turboprop" actually refers to the fact that it's a turbine driven engine and not a piston engine. Another name for a jet engine is "Gas Turbine" engine.
The props spin at their maximum RPM on takeoff, roughly 1,500 RPM. Shortly after takeoff, they are spooled down to about 1,200 RPM. They probably spin at approximately 1,000 RPM during the cruise portion of the flight.

I've noticed that he increased engine speed when started to descend, something I've never seen before

+Khalid Suwaid I believe it just sounds like that because of the feather. It sounds like it he's powering up but really it's just louder with the more feather used.

Increasing the feather, increasing the RPM while maintaining the same torque which helps slow the aircraft down, sounds like it's producing more power because the angle of the blades is more forward and therefore is putting more of a workload on the props

18,000 feet for a 40 minute flight seems pretty low, most aircrafts I've been on have flown to maybe 24,000 feet and we only flew for maybe 30-35 minutes or so. Perhaps you only flew to 18,000 feet because of the type of aircraft you were flying?

Anyway, Saab 2000 is among the fastest turbo props.
