That was a very poor report on an issue that may be the result of a number of or combination of factors. One factor was chosen as the explanation - institutionalized racism - and not even one example was given of how that is manifested in the health care protocol followed in this context.

Do you know how many places in the US are OBGYN DESERTS meaning that most places black women live have only one doctor or they have to go to a different state for maternity care and have to pay out of pocket because their insurance only applies in the state they live. People love to blame black women for everything that happens in our communities but if proper treatment and education is not available to black women how do you expect any change instead of saying she’s probably an alcoholic or a drug addict maybe the same care that’s given to white women should be given to black women and other women of color the fact that anyone else who is not a person of color is blaming us for the lack of care and respect that we receive on a daily basis is messed up. To think all this doesn’t go back to slavery or racism is absolutely wrong. Do you know that it’s still taught in most medical textbooks that black people don’t feel pain like other races. We were medical tests subjects and guinea pigs up until till about the 60s and the 70s.But to say all the things we experienced in this country is a fault of our own or is a fault of our own lack of understanding and not this society in which we live in being messed up is atrocious behavior.

I was going to ask the same thing. It could be that black woman or people of different ethnicity including myself are more prone to issue within or during pregnancy down to health factors and genetics 🤔 It might be more complex then just calling it racism.
I read this book once, it was about cultural health issues, disease and how genetics play a massive part in what health issues different cultures are prone to and why. With outside factors such as food and hormones… stress exc. It also spoke about hormonal issues in women and how higher levels of certain hormone such as testosterone in woman can affect things like fertility and pregnancy. I also read that black woman and woman of different ethnicities are more likely to have hormone imbalance problems and health issues like high blood pressure and glucose tolerance problems which affect pregnancy and recovery 🤔 add that to a lack of stuff, nurses and doctors, our NHS in the UK is exhausted 💭 I believe it’s more complicated then racism . This issue needs to be looked at from a different perspective in my opinion. 💭

I've never seen so many beautiful women in one news segment. It's awful that it's not about a celebration and instead is about injustice - this is racism impacting heath outcomes.
I've personally as a UK felt that my mother's complaints of health (which are in hindsight vitamin and mineral related - leading to a sister with spino bifida), led directly to assuming I was a hypochondriac ("like my mother" - which she wasn't at all), that negatively affected my ability to deal with IBS throughout my life. Of which I've ended up curing myself anyway.
